Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Mark quits.

This episode i thought would put off some weight off the Ross & Rachel problems, but it didn't. Since Rachel is still seeing him, Rachel seriously need to appreciate her boyfriend more. Ross slept at the lecture. That was hilarious! Phoebe and her ex partner was sort of sad, cause in the end, after Phoebe forgave her, she betrays her again. Although the song "Smelly Cat" is good for a kitty litter campaign! The prosthetic leg plot wasn't great. I like how they brought back the nubbin storyline though. Chandler got it removed! A great episode, with a lot of foreshadowing of Ross & Rachel's relationship.moreless
  • There's a new singer at central perk and her and Pheobe have a past. Chandler meets a woman in a men's bathroom. Joey recounts a story ofthat woman involving a wooden leg and fire. Rachel and Ross attend a fashion lecture with unfortunate consequences.moreless

We learn a great deal about Phoebe. Her mother worked on a barge and with the jingle girl's mother. Jingle girl was her childhood best friend up until five years ago.

Chandler meets a girl in the men's restroom. Her name is Ginger and as it turns out Joey had an incident involving her wooden leg. He can't really handle the premise of a wooden legged girl friend but he excepts it. When she learns he has a third nipple she freaks out and leaves.

Ross falls asleep at Rachel's fashion lecture that he attends merely to keep Mark away from her. I think this is the beginning of their relationship problems.

In the end Phoebe STUPIDLY gives the jingle girl "Smelly Cat" and she, jingle girl abandons her yet agian, and turns it into a kitty litter jingle. "Go to hell jingle whore..."moreless
  • A clever and entertaining episode with some good songs.

Definetely a step up from last week's "The One Where Monica and Richard are Just Friends", "The One With Phoebe's Ex-Partner" is a clever and entertaining episode with a cute spin on Phoebe's infamous songs. Sherilyn Fenn ("Twin Peaks") plays a beautiful woman with a big secret, an artificial limb. The hilarious backstory about her fling with Joey is outrageously funny and very original. Back to Phoebe, we learn a new song that will continue into the series called "Sticky Shoes" as well as a great twist with her best song "Smelly Cat". All in all, a great addition to the series and offers a clever spin with Phoebe's past.moreless

    • Goof: When Ginger is leaving after finding Chandlers third nipple, she's taking her coat and her purse is lying on the counter. When the camera angle changes, her purse is suddenly in her hand.

    • Phoebe's Songs: "Sticky Shoes"
My favorite shoes, so good to me, I wear them everyday.
Down at the heel, holes in the toes, don't care what people say.
My feet's best friends, pals to the end, with them I'm one hot chicky.
Though late one night, not much light,
      I stepped in something icky.
Sticky shoes, sticky shoes, always make me smile.
Sticky shoes, sticky shoes, next time I'll avoid the pile.

      "Jingle Bitch"
      Jingle Bitch screwed me over!
      Go to hell Jingle Whore!
Go to hell, go to hell,
      go to hell-hell-hell.

    • Trivia: This is the first time we see the restroom area of Central Perk.

    • Goof: When Monica comes in and asks Chandler if she can borrow some milk, Chandler is reading a paper that is flat on the bar. In the next shot he is holding it folded, then he lays it on the counter, and suddenly it is in his hands again.

    • Goof: When Joey is telling his story about Ginger, a large section of Phoebe's hair falls in front of her face. In the next shot it's gone, even though her hands are visible the whole time.

    • Goof: In the end tag scene Chandler comes in with his hands by his sides then it suddenly cuts and his hands are in his pockets.

    • Trivia: This is the first time we hear Phoebe's song "Sticky Shoes". We hear another version in "The One with Joey's New Girlfriend".

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Ross: (About Rachel attending a lecture with Mark) Well, I'm sorry, but, ah, look if you're not working with him anymore, why do you have to still do stuff with him?
      Rachel: Because, he's my friend.
Ross: Okay, but do you really need another friend? I mean...
Rachel: Okay, well if I stop playing with Joey and Chandler, can I play with Mark?
Ross: Is that funny? Am I supposed to be laughing?
Ross: I don't know, you thought "See you Saturday" was funny.

    • Joey: It was like four years ago. Okay, Ginger and I had gone out a few times, and then this one weekend, we went up to her Dad's cabin. Just me, her, and her annoying little dog Pepper. Well that night, I cooked this really romantic dinner...
Monica: You gave her food poisoning?!
Joey: I wish. No. After dinner, me, her, and Pepper all fell asleep in front of the fire. Well I woke up in the middle of the night and I saw that the fire was dying out. So, I picked up a log and threw it on. Or, at least what I thought was a log.
Phoebe: Oh, my God! You threw Pepper on the fire!
Joey: I wish. See, I guess another thing I probably should have told you about Ginger is that she kinda has a, ah, artificial leg.
Monica: Oh, my God! Joey, what did you do after you threw her leg on the fire?
      Joey: I ran!

    • Monica: (About Leslie) Wow, she must have hurt you pretty bad, huh?
Phoebe: Well, yeah. You know, we were best friends, ever since we were little, our Moms worked on the barge together.
Monica: Oh, you two must have been so cute running around on a barge.
Phoebe: You never run on a barge!

    • Rachel: I've got some bad news.
      Ross: What?
Rachel: I can get a quick bite to eat, but then I have to come back up here.
Ross: Come on sweetie! You've had to work late every night for the past two weeks, what is it this time?
Mark: Actually, it's kinda my fault. I, I quit today.
Ross: (To Rachel) But work comes first!

    • Leslie: Well, I, you know, I was just, um, I was just thinking and hoping, that um, maybe you'd want to get back together?
      Phoebe: No. But thanks.
Leslie: Aw, come on Phoebe, would you just think about it?
Phoebe: Okay. (Pretends to think about it) No. But thanks.

    • Ross: A hundred million people went to see a movie about what I do. I wonder how many people would go see a movie called Jurassic Parka.
      Rachel: Oh, that is so--
Ross: No, no, no, a bunch of out-of-control jackets take over an island! (Ross gasps and throws off his jacket).

    • Phoebe: (About Leslie) When we were playing together, that was the best time I've had in, like, all my lives.

    • Monica: My milk's gone bad.
Chandler: I hate that. I once had a thing of half-and-half, stole my car.

    • Chandler: Just had me a little nubbinectomy. Yep! Two nipples, no waiting.
Monica: Wow. Just like Rachel in High School.
      Rachel: What?
Monica: Come on! Come on, I was kidding! It was such an obvious joke!
Chandler: That was an obvious joke; and I didn't think of it. Why didn't I think of it? The source of all my powers! Oh dear God, what have I done!

    • Leslie: Okay, my next song's called, "Phoebe Buffay, What Can I Say? I Really Loved When We Were Singing Partners, And I Shouldn'ta Left You That Way."
Phoebe: Oh no, one of those look-for-the-hidden-meaning songs.

  • NOTES (3)

    • Ross: A hundred million people went to see a movie about what I do. I wonder how many people would go see a movie called Jurassic Parka.

Jurassic Park is a 1993 thriller film, adapted from a novel written by Michael Crichton, about genetically engineered dinosaurs.

    • Monica: No, it was Ginger. I remember because when he told me, I said: "The movie star".

Monica sings a line from the theme song for Gilligan's Island, an American TV sitcom.
