Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Eh.

Not the greatest episode of Friends. First of all it went by really fast. Most of the episode was taken up by the guest star's singing. Everything else was good. Monica being like Ross' mother and getting him through a shot. Chandler & Joey losing Ben on a bus but get him back pretending to be together. Why was Rachel looking at the singer like she was about to cry? I don't know. But the Rachel & Phoebe moment was really great! So in my opinion, not so great. Not even that funny. So much of a filler. Otherwise other plots were good.moreless
  • Awesome.

When Ross has an allergic reaction to Monica's kiwi-lime pie, Chandler and Joey are asked to baby-sit Ross' son, Ben. They use Ben to help them try to pick up girls. They leave him accidentally on the bus, they later find him, but they are not sure the baby is really Ben as there are two similar babies in the room. Phoebe loses her Central Perk singing gig to a professional singer (Chrissie Hynde), and she becomes a street singer in front of the café. Great storyline, I love the start where the baby, Ben only cries around Monica but nobody else - I found it very funny/ I have to say I love Chandler Bing. I love this episode - the boys meaning Joey adn Chandler are at there best, the lose the baby and it's just so funny, also Rachel has to tell Phoebe she can't sing in the Coffee House anymore meaning that there is somebody better than her - but that all gets sorted out by the end of the episode.moreless

When Ross has an allergic reaction to Monica's kiwi-lime pie, Chandler and Joey are asked to baby-sit Ross's son Ben. They use Ben to help them try and pick up girls. Phoebe loses her Central Perk singing gig to a professional singer. Now this is where it gets really good. Chandler and Joey are at there best here every scene with them made me laugh. "Stay back I got Kiwi, run joey run" was a really memorable moment. Phoebe's songs where really funny too. The part where Monica throws the basketball out the window was good also. 9.5 out of 10.moreless
  • Joey and Chandler are just classic!

    I love this episode!

The main story is that Ross gets an allergic reaction from some Kiwi Pie that Monica made but is looking after Ben. He needs to go to the hospital though, and so entrusts Joey and Chandler to look after Ben while he goes to get treatment.... Joey and Chandler decide to use Ben as a babe magnet and end up getting on a bus with some women, only to then get off the bus and leave Ben on it!!!

When they go to pick Ben up they can't decide which Baby is Ben so decide to flip for it:

Joey: Uh... uh, we'll flip for it. Ducks or clowns?

Chandler: Oh, we're gonna flip for the baby?

Joey: You got a better idea? Chandler: All right, call it in the air.

    Joey: Heads.

    Chandler: Heads it is.

    Joey: Yes! Whew!

Chandler: We have to assign heads to something.

Joey: Right. Okay, okay, uh... ducks is heads, because ducks have heads.

Chandler: What kind of scary-*** clowns came to your birthday? Only when they get home do they realise they have the right baby when he starts to cry around Monica like before!

    Overall a great funny episode!moreless
  • "What kind of clowns came to your birthday"-Chandler Bing.

When Ross has an allergic reaction to Monica's kiwi-lime pie, Chandler and Joey are asked to baby-sit Ross's son Ben. They use Ben to help them try and pick up girls. They leave him accidentally on the bus, later they find him but they are not sure the baby is really Ben. Phoebe loses her Central Perk singing gig to a professional singer. She becames a street singer in front of the café. Favourite episode of season two, it was hilerous, couldn't stop laughing when Ross goes to yell at Chandler and Joey and Chander says "Step back I have Kiwi, run Joey run!" it was brilliant a very memorible episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (9)

    • Continuity: In "The One with Frank Jr." Rachel tells Phoebe that she's not supposed to bring cups out of Central Perk. However, in this episode, not only does Phoebe drink from a cup outside of Central Perk, but Rachel brings it out for her. Also, in "The One with a Chick and a Duck" Gunther (who was actually the person to tell Rachel that the cups weren't supposed to be brought out of the coffee place) brings out a cup of cocoa for Rachel (possibly because of his feelings for her).

    • Goof: In the scene where Chandler is telling Monica that it will be a long time before she has to deal with her own baby, Monica folds her arms. When the camera angle changes, her arms are down by her sides. When the angle pans back to Chandler, her arms are folded again.

    • Phoebe's Songs: "Shower Song"
I'm in the shower and I'm writing a song
Stop me if you've heard it.
My skin is soapy, and my hair is wet,
and Tegrin spelled backward is Nirget.
      Lather, rinse, repeat
      and lather, rinse, repeat
      and lather, rinse, repeat
      as needed.

      "I Play For Me"
When I play, I play for me
      I don't need your charity
      La lalala lalalalalalala
      lalala lalala lalalalalalala....

      "Double-Jointed Boy"
...was the double, double, double-jointed boy.

      Stephanie knows all the chords.

      Terry's a jerk!
And he won't let me work!
      And I hate Central Perk!
You're all invited to bite me!

      "Smelly Cat"
      Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
      What are they feeding you?
      Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
      It's not your fault.

    • Trivia: In this episode we learn that Ross has a Ph.D.

    • Continuity: Phoebe knows guitar chords in this episode, but not in "The One with All the Resolutions" which is three years later.

    • Trivia: In the spinoff show Joey, in the episode "Joey and the Book Club", Joey is seen singing "Angel of the Morning", the exact song Chrissie Hynde was singing at Central Perk.

    • Trivia: In this episode we learn that Joey has seven sisters.

    • Trivia: This is the first episode in which Phoebe's song "Smelly Cat" is played.

    • Trivia: In this episode we learn that Ross is allergic to kiwi, lobster and peanuts.

  • QUOTES (18)

    • Ross: Ben loves you. He's just being Mr. Crankypants.
Chandler: You know, I once dated a Miss Crankypants. Lovely girl, kinda moody.

    • Monica: What if my own baby hates me? Huh? What am I gonna do then?
Chandler: Monica, will you stop? This is nuts. Do you know how long it's gonna be before you actually have to deal with this problem? I mean, you don't even have a boyfriend yet. (awkward pause) Joey, she does not look fat.

    • Joey: Are you okay, Ross?
Ross: I don't know. What's in this pie?
Monica: Uh, I don't know. Butter, eggs, flour, lime, kiwi--
Ross: Kiwi? Kiwi? I thought it was a key lime pie.
Monica: No I didn't, I said kiwi-lime. That's what makes it so special.
Ross: And that's what's gonna kill me. I'm allergic to kiwi.

    • Monica: Is your tongue swelling up?
Ross: Either that or my mouth is getting smaller.

    • Ross: (mumbling due to swollen tongue) Thumrthel, thubrthel thbhrth!
Chandler: (to Joey) You understood that?
Joey: My uncle had a really big tongue.
Chandler: Is he the one with the really beautiful wife?

    • Terry: Rachel, it's not that your friend is bad, it's... it's that she's so bad, she makes me want to put my finger through my eye, into my brain, and swirl it around!
Rachel: Okay... so you're not a fan...

    • Caroline: I think it's great you guys are doing this.
Chandler: Well, we are great guys.
Caroline: You know, my brother and his boyfriend have been trying to adopt for three years. What agency did you two go through?

    • Phoebe: But, but this is my gig. This is where I play. My, my name is written out there in chalk. You know, you can't just erase chalk.

    • Rachel: Terry is a jerk, okay? That's why we're always saying "Terry's a jerk!". That's where that came from.

    • Ross: Well, there's no way I'm gonna get a shot. Maybe they can take the needle and squirt it into my mouth, you know, like a squirt gun.

    • Becky: So what are you guys out doing today?
Joey: Oh we're not out. No, no. We're just uh, two heterosexual guys, hanging with the son of our other heterosexual friend, doing the usual straight guy stuff.
      Chandler: You done?
      Joey: Yeah.
      Robin: Oh, there's our stop.
Joey: Get outta here. This is our stop too.
Becky: You guys live around here too?
Joey: Oh, yeah, yeah, sure. We live in the building by the... uh... sidewalk.
      Chandler: You know it?

    • Chandler: (on a pay phone) Come on, pick up, pick up! Hello? Transit Authority? Yes, hello. I'm doing research for a book, and I was wondering what someone might do if they left a baby on a city bus. Yes, I do realize that would be a very stupid character.
(Chandler hands the phone to Joey)
Joey: Hi, here's the deal. We lost a carseat on a bus today. It's white plastic, with a handle, and it fits onto a stroller. Oh, and there was a baby in it. (hands the phone back to Chandler) He wants to talk to you again.

    • Joey: Oh, oh wait. That one's definitely Ben. Remember, he had that cute little mole by his mouth.
      Chandler: Yeah?
      Joey: Yeah.
Chandler: Hey, Ben, remember us? Okay, the mole came off.
      Joey: Ah!

    • (Chandler and Joey have to decide which of two babies is Ben; one has duck designs on his clothing and the other has clowns)
Joey(about to flip a coin) Okay, uh... ducks is heads, because ducks... have heads.
Chandler: What kind of scary-ass clowns came to your birthday?

    • Rachel: Well, people missed you in there. And in fact, there was actually a request for "Smelly Cat".
      Phoebe: Really? From who?
Rachel: Well, from me. And I know it's not your big money song, but it's my favorite.

    • Ross: I just wanna thank you for being there for me today. And I'm sorry I, I almost broke your hand.
Monica: That's ok. I'm sorry I poisoned you.

    • Ross: Oh, man. Oh, remember when I stuck that broom in your bike spokes, and you flipped over and hit your head on the curb?
Monica: No. But I remember people telling me about it.

    • Ross: I hope Ben has a little sister.
Monica: Yeah. I hope she can kick his ass.
