Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • One of the funniest episodes of Friends ever! -True Story

This episode is so amazing! I laughed more than I ever laughed in my life. Rachel doesn't approve of Ross' decision to try and bring Emma to the park because of a swing incident that happened to her when she was little. Ross' convinces her to go and see how much Emma loves it, so Rachel does. We find out that Ross' is deadly afraid of spiders. Monica and Chandler meet with the Adoption Lady and find out that she was one of the people Joey had a one night stand with. They say they aren't friends with him because they want her to like them. Chandler says one of the funniest quotes ever when the lady walks through the door, "We love kids, love em to death, well not actually to death...We love them a reasonable amount...aloud by law."

Joey than walks by the door wanting to go in to their apartment, Chandler jumps up and slams into the door to try and make him go away. Chandler says, "Don't worry thats just Crazy Bert, he wanders the halls. He is great with kids though." The lady looks confused. "Keep on roaming Bert we don't want no crazy today," says Monica.

Joey says everything doesn't sound fine to himself as he walks into his apartment with an idea. We then go back to Mondlar's apartment and we see Joey walking up the fire escape with a bat, hahaha.

Soon enough the adoption lady knows Joey is there and confront him about why he never called her. Joey acts as if she never called him to make her look bad. He tells her that she broke his heart and that she has no idea how many women he had to sleep with to get over her. Joey leaves and we learn later that her name is Laura. Laura apoligizes to Monica and Chandler and they say that it is okay. She says that they are nice and they get wait listed for a baby.

Mike and Phoebe realize that they don't really want a huge wedding and decide to give all the wedding money to charity. They do and then Phoebe later decides that she made a mistake and that she does want an amazing wedding. So she goes to ask for the money back.

Rachel tells Ross that when she was little she got her hair caught in the chain on the swings, and she never wants Emma to go on one. The next scene shows them at the park. Emma gets on the swing and she loves it. Ross trys to take a picture and get kick by another kid on a swing haha.

In the last scene Rachel and Ross make a deal that she will get on a swing ONLY if Ross holds a spider. Rachel very catiously gets on the swing and Ross holds a spider. Ross says I can barely even feel him anymore and Rachel says thats because hes on your neck. Ross flips out and acidentally gets in the way of Rachel's swinging path. She knocks him over. End Scene.

The acting in this episode is awesome, and this is such an amazing episode.moreless
  • You can tell Kevin S. Bright directed this episode. It was brilliant!

Fantastic episode where every storyline in this one was hilarious and to all you believers who think post-season 7 episodes are not as good are wrong. Just watch the rest of this season and you'll see. I admit Season 9 dipped a little but Season 10 made up for it. Phoebe and Mike were the funniest with their fickle decision about donating their wedding fund to charity, Monica, Chandler and Joey are extremely funny with the adoption lady and Ross and Rachel take Emma to the swings where Ross gets kicked in the head twice! Rachel explaining her fear of swings was very funny and was completely in her pre-Friends character.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Magna Doodle: A drawing of a giant snail with huge fangs and a little man in a hat yelling, "Help!"

    • Goof: When Rachel is about to admit her fear of swings, the camera angle switches from the back of her to looking directly at her. After the shot changes back to her, you can clearly tell that the words she says do not match what her lips are saying.

    • Continuity: Monica wanted to give Phoebe her veil to wear for her wedding. This veil is not the same one that Monica wore for her wedding.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Ross: There's no way around it, Pheebs. You just got to accept the fact that this is going to cost you a lot of money.
Mike: I heard that weddings are like a forty-billion dollar a year industry.
Ross: Yeah, and I'm responsible for just, like, half of that.

    • Phoebe: How would you feel if we gave all the wedding money to charity and we just got married at City Hall?
Mike: I think it would make me wanna marry you even more.
Ross: I've got to say, you guys, that's an incredible gesture.
Chandler: (to Ross) Maybe you do that next time you get married.
Ross: No, no, no. The next time it's gonna be in Hawaii at sunset. But maybe the time after that.

    • Phoebe: (about their donation) ...And we don't want any recognition. This is completely anonymous.
Mike: Completely anonymous. From two kind strangers.
Phoebe: Mr. X and Phoebe Buffay.
Charity Guy: Well if you like, we can include your names in our newsletter.
      Mike: Not necessary.
      Phoebe: Buffay is spelled B-U-F-F-A-Y.
Mike: And "X" is spelled, um... "Mike Hannigan".

    • Rachel: Listen, I heard about you and Charlie. I'm really sorry.
Ross: Oh, that's okay. I'm sure there are tons of other beautiful paleontologists out there.
      Rachel: Absolutely.
Ross: There was one! She's it! All the rest look like they should live under a bridge!

    • Rachel: So, uh... what are you going to do today?
Ross: Well, I was thinking about taking Emma to the playground.
      Rachel: Oh, My God! What?!
Ross: Like I said, I was thinking of taking Emma to the museum of knives and fire.

    • Rachel: (about swings) Ross, those things go like forty miles an hour. Okay, there is that moment, when you're at the top when you just don't know if you're gonna return back to earth.
Ross: Space is filled with orbiting children.

    • Ross: You don't want to be one of those mothers who passes on her irrational fears to her child, do you?
Rachel: Okay, I'll remember that the next time you freak out about a spider in your apartment.
Ross: Oh yeah, that's the same. I'm sure there are thirty different species of poisonous swings!

    • Monica: This is her wedding, Chandler! And that's way more important than any stupid kids!
Chandler: That's sweet honey, but save something for the adoption lady.

    • Rachel: (to Ross as he puts Emma on the swing) Watch her hair! Watch her hair!!
Ross: Rach', she's got, like, three hairs.

    • Monica: (to the adoption agent) We're so glad you're here. We're really excited about getting this process started.
Chandler: Because we love kids. Love them to death. Well, not actually to death. That's just a figure of speech. We love kids the appropriate amount... as allowed by law.

    • Ross: Son of a bitch! (a few kids stare in amazement) Oh, relax, I didn't say the F-word!

    • Ross: I want you to get on the swing, okay? And you'll see that there's nothing to be afraid of.
Rachel: I know what this is all about. You've always been jealous of my hair.
Ross: Look, I just think you're an adult, okay? And you should get over your silly fears.
Rachel: All right, fine. I'll do it...
      Ross: Good.
Rachel: ...if you hold a spider.
Ross: (freaking out) What?! Where?! Where?!
Rachel: "If" you hold a spider...

    • Joey: (to Laura) You know how many women I had to sleep with to get over you?!

    • Monica: (on the phone) Hello? Yes? Oh, my God! I can't wait to tell Chandler! Thank you. (hangs up the phone)
      Chandler: Wrong number?

    • Monica: (just off the phone) That was Laura. She gave us a great report and we're officially on the waiting list.
      Chandler: That's great!
Monica: Yeah, we just have to wait for a call and, and someone tells us there's a baby waiting for us. (hugs Chandler) Ohhh...
      (The phone rings)
Chandler: (answering the phone expectantly) Hello?! (to Monica) Have you seen Joey's bat?

  • NOTES (2)

    • Chandler tells Laura that Joey is a guy named "Bert" and that he has a brother named "Ernie".
Bert and Ernie are a couple of Muppet friends on the popular children's TV show Sesame Street, performed by Muppeteers Steve Whitmire and Eric Jacobson. Originally created by Frank Oz and Jim Henson, Bert and Ernie have been entertaining childern all over the world since 1969.

    • Rachel: (about who will play her in a movie) ...I was thinking Claire Danes.
Claire Danes is an American actress who played Juliet in the 1996 remake Romeo + Juliet and Yvaine in the film Stardust. She is probably best know currently as Carrie Mathison in the Showtime series Homeland.
