Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Excellent

The One with the Late Thanksgiving has to be one of the best Friends episodes. Its great storyline is very good. After the gang asks Monica to make a Thanksgiving meal even though she doesn't want to, she reluctantly agrees. But Phoebe and Rachel are at a beauty pageant for Emma and Joey and Ross are at a Rangers game and they are all late for dinner. They all however meet in the hallway trying to make up an excuse. However Monica realizes they are out there and locks the door. Rachel uses her spare keys to get in but Monica and Chandler used the chain. After they squeeze their heads in to apologize, Joey gets stuck and breaks down the door right into the Thanksgiving dinner. However, Monica is not upset because her and Chandler are going to get a baby form the adoption agency.moreless
  • Funny episode. Not the best thanksgiving but very good!!!

Very good episode from Friends because the acting was great and wrting too.The performance of Monica and Chandler were great and Joey was great too.Every character develops its personality here and shows us the greatest parts of thir characters.Season 10 is not the greatest because it hasn't got so many significant episode like the previous seasons but the tone is funny like before. That thanksgiving is not the greatest one but it is pretty goo for a last season. The funniest moments were when they were waiting and Rachel,Phoebe,Joey and Ross were outside the apartment. And the most moving moment was when Chandler and Monica realize they are chosen for a baby.moreless
  • Brilliant thanksgiving episode with some great moments

After Monica announces that she's not cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year, Phoebe talks her back into it. This leads to her being in competition with herself to beat last year's Thanksgiving. This leads to some hilarious obssessive Monica Moments. Ross, Rachel, Phoebe and Joey are all late to the dinner, thanks to a baby beauty contest and a Rangers game, so Monica and Chandler lock them out. The best part is when Joey's head gets stuck in the door and ruining Chandler's cranberries which he spent all day on. But the funny thing is the mess doesn't bother Monica. She just got a phone call informing her that a pregnant girl from Ohio has selected her and Chandler to adopt her unborn baby. One of the best 5 Thanksgiving episodes and has a sad moment near the end marking the last Thanksgiving episode.moreless

  • the group begs monica to cook thanksgiving dinner but then they all show up late.

This episode is probubly my favorite. it was so funny. In the beginning chandler tells them that he and monica don't want tocook thanks giving dinner. But they talk them into it.

Pheobe: think about it monica you'd be trying to top what you did last year. It'd be like you were in compotition with yourself.

    Monica: thats my favorite kind

then Joey and ross get tickets to a big game and decide to go before dinner.

Ross: (to chandler) guess what Joey got.

    Joey: Rangers tickets

Ross: I wanted him to guess.(to chandler) Ok guess where they are.

    Joey: center ice

Ross: did I do something to you?

Pheobe and Rachle sign Emma up for a baby beauty pagent that is before dinner.

Rachle: don't you put make-up on my baby

Pheobe: why not? she's gonna look washed out compared to the other contestants.

Rachle: cause I all ready did

They all show up late and monica won't let them in.

Joey: I hope the threeof you have a happy thanksgiving. Monica, Chandler, and the vain!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • Goof: Rachel, Phoebe, Ross and Joey are trying to decide who goes in first using "Rock-Paper-Scissors". The problem is, that game only works with two people.

    • Goof: When Monica and Chandler are in the kitchen talking about the adoption agency, the studio light reflection is visible bouncing off the balcony window.

    • Goof: When Chandler tells Joey he can see his fake Rangers hand, Ross takes it off and throws it on the floor in front of him. However when Joey picks it up and throws it into the apartment, the foam finger is suddenly behind him.

    • Goof: Since Phoebe and Mike are now engaged, wouldn't they spend Thanksgiving together?

    • Continuity: It's not possible for Rachel to have an old key that works. In "The One Where Rachel Tells..." after Treeger knocks down the door, he clearly states that the door will need a new lock.

    • Continuity: How could Rachel still have her old key when she gave it to Monica when she moved out in "The One on the Last Night"?

Plus, the four friends who are locked outside Chandler and Monica's apartment can't seem to be able to find a key. Yet, in the series finale, they all leave their own keys to the very same apartment on the counter. Why didn't they use them here?

    • Goof: When everyone approaches Monica and Chandler to hug them after hearing about the baby, the audio is a few seconds behind the actor's speech. This is clearly noticeable when Rachel mouths "I'm so happy for you," with the audio of that coming in shortly after.

  • QUOTES (20)

    • Monica: We need to talk to you about something.
Chandler: Yeah. We don't feel like we can host Thanksgiving this year.
      All: What?
      Phoebe: Hey!
      Ross: Are you kidding?
Chandler: Well, it's just with work and the stress of adoption, we just don't feel like we have the energy. Plus, we don't think it's fair that every year the burden falls on us.
Ross: That doesn't sound like you... That's Monica talking!
Chandler: No, no! We made this decision together.
Ross: She's putting words in your mouth!
Joey: (to Monica) Don't you put words in people's mouths. You put turkey in people's mouths!

    • Rachel: I can't believe this. This is Emma's first Thanksgiving.
      Monica: No, it's not.
Rachel: It's not?! (to Ross) When was she born?

    • Rachel: Happy Thanksgiving!
Phoebe: Oh yeah! Happy needless-turkey-murder day.

    • Phoebe: Hey Rach, what's Emma doing today?
Rachel: Well, let's see... I know that she has a meeting with her lawyer, and then she has to make a very big poop. Why?
Phoebe: Well, I wanna enter her in a baby beauty pageant.
Rachel: Oh my God. That's the creepiest thing I've ever heard.
Phoebe: Okay, but, well, before you say no, my friend Susanne is entering her kid and compared to Emma she's a real dog!
Rachel: Oh, Phoebe, all babies are beautiful!
      Phoebe: Oh... okay.
Rachel: Phoebe, just the idea of putting one baby against another, I mean, you know, and judging who's cuter just for a trophy...
      Phoebe: And a thousand dollars.
Rachel: ... is something I'm very interested in. Oh please, do not tell Ross. He still believes that (mimicking Ross) what's on the inside is important...

    • Chandler: (to Joey and Ross about his contribution to Thanksgiving dinner) And get ready to taste my very special cranberries. Or should I say... "Chan-berries"?
Joey: (after considering what Chandler just said) That's some gentle comedy, dude.

    • Rachel: No Phoebe, I am not letting you put makeup on my baby!
      Phoebe: Why not!
      Rachel: Because I already did!

    • Ross: What's with the trophy?
Phoebe: Uh, we were at the Spelling Bee.
      Rachel: And I won!
Ross: You won an adult Thanksgiving day spelling bee.
      Rachel: Yes! Y-E-S. Yes!

    • Rachel: What happened to your shirt?
Ross: I got mugged. And they stole my pocket.

    • Ross: (reading Monica's note) "We know you're out there".
Joey: Who do you think it's from?

    • Phoebe: (about Monica and Chandler's apartment) It's locked!
Ross: Oh sure. Now they lock it. But when they're having sex on the couch, it's like, "Come in, my butt is surprisingly hairy!"

    • Rachel: Oh, I just remembered. We do have something to eat. Monica put something in our oven this morning.
      Phoebe: Oh yeah!
Monica: Hey, you touch that and you will be sorry.
Chandler: Guys, I'd listen to her. The vein is bigger than I've ever seen it!

    • Rachel: Oh my God! It's Brussels sprouts!
Ross: That's worse than no food!

    • Rachel: (to Phoebe about Monica and Chandler) You know what? I don't want to be with them either. But it's Thanksgiving and we should not want to be together together.

    • Joey: We don't need your stupid dinner!
Chandler: That would be a lot more convincing if you weren't drooling!

    • Phoebe: Come on you guys, let's just do our own Thanksgiving.
      Rachel: Yeah! I'll cook!
      Ross: Yeah! Let's go out.

    • Joey: (with his head between the door and the frame) Help! I'm stuck!
Phoebe: (in the hall) Here, I'll pull you through.
Joey: Ow, stop, stop! Before you damage my head!
      Chandler: Little late for that!

    • Monica: We have to unscrew the chain.
Joey: Well, hurry! I can't feel my ears!
Chandler: Can you ever feel your ears?
      Joey: Interesting.

    • Monica: Chandler, where are your tools?
Chandler: I left them on my bulldozer.

    • Chandler: I don't have tools.
Monica: I lent mine to Rachel.
Rachel: I lent them to Ross.
Ross: I gave them to Joey.
Joey: I left them at the park.

    • Monica: (to the gang) Now when I get back, I want you and your friends to be gone. Thanksgiving is over. The Vein has spoken!

  • NOTES (2)

    • Joey: Three tickets to today's Rangers game!

The New York Rangers are a professional hockey team. Playing their home games at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers are one of the oldest teams in the NHL, and have won the Stanley Cup four times.

    • Ross: When I was here for Holidays on Ice, I was so far away Michelle Kwan couldn't read my banner.

This is alluding to the famous Olympic Figure Skater Michelle Kwan who has won Nationals every year since 1998 and has won the worlds in 1998, 2000, and 2001.

    • Phoebe: ...or, we can plant PCP in the apartment and call the cops on her.
She is alluding to the illicit street drug called phencyclidine (abbreviated as PCP), also known as "Angel Dust."

    • Phoebe: Now, the way I see it, our real competition now is Cameron. Oh my God, they just took her sweater off. Look at those arms! Hello Michelin Man.

The Michelin Man is a TV mascot for Michelin tires with a body made up of tires. Phoebe made this allusion from the chubbiness of the baby's arms.

    • Chandler: You, me, and little Hemingway Bing. What? He's my favorite author.
Monica: Name one of his books.
      Chandler: The Firm?
The Firm is a John Grisham novel about a lawyer who accepts a job with a firm that, unbeknownst to him, is run by the Mafia. This book is one of many bestsellers written by Grisham. It has also been made into a movie starring Tom Cruise.
"Hemingway" refers to Ernest Hemingway, a famous American novelist, who wrote The Old Man and the Sea, The Sun Also Rises, and A Farewell to Arms.
