  • I like it when they're all together.

I enjoyed this installment alot more than any other episode this season mainly because of all the characters being involved in the same scenario. Lottery tickets. Ross is skeptical, the gang are hopeful.

The thing I liked most about this episode is how it highlighted each character's individual personality.

Monica : Competetive, organisational and driven.

    Chandler : Comic.

    Phoebe : Hopeful and eccentric.

    Ross : Skeptical and realistic.

Joey : Hyper and quite dumb.

    Rachel : Aloof and outgoing.

My favorite character this episode was phoebe. The pigeon thing was hilarious and she had the best lines, "Is daddy gonna spank me."

  • The gang trys and wins the lottery.

    8.9
Good episode. Joey wants to buy a lottery ticket and so does everyone else except Ross. He later agrees. Phoebe was dumb when she did that. Why the hell would you even go outside and even attempt that!! It does make Friends a little less in rating. Even in the end when the hear about the guy found the ticket in the stree. You think they would do something about it!! I sure hell would!! And like on shows like Friends they can never win a million dollar prize. It is very dumb!!moreless
  • really great and funny! =D

    9.9
In this episode, the six of friends bought lotteries, except Ross. They pooled their money together and promised to share the money if they win. They were very excited of winning the lottery, Phoebe even went to a psychic, and Ross was keep making jokes of them. Emma was about to say her first word when Rachel called her. All of them were excited at first, but later they found out the word that Emma said, gleba. Monica then found buying other tickets for herself and Chandler, and soon the six friends fought to get the lotteries. Phoebe then went to the balcony to threaten to throw them off the edge. She actually didn't mean to throw them off, she just wanted the gang to realise friends were more important than money. However, she did drop them off because she was shocked by a pigeon, and they could only get half of the lottery tickets. In the end, Phoebe won three dollars, which should have been divided into six, and they found out that one of the lost tickets was worth $10,000.moreless

Monica leads the gang, except for a scoffing Ross, to purchase a bunch of lottery tickets for the multimillion dollar powerball jackpot, but while they gleefully plot how to spend their possible shares, a disdainful Phoebe throws caution to the wind literlly dropping all of the tickets from the balcolny and one was the winning ticket i think. Meanwhile, Chandler frets as he waits for a phone call that could mean a new paying job but he doesent get it, he gets a better kob and is happy and Rachel thinks baby Emma is close to saying her first word.moreless
  • Funny, one of the best, and exciting.

    9.3
Everyone buys lottery tickets, but Ross is still not sure about it. Chandler is having hope on getting a new job but his friend whose father is the boss, might also have a bigger chance than him. Meanwhile, Rachel thinks that her daughter said her first words but Ross is confused that the word Emma said...is not a word.

Phoebe is sure that she is going to win the lottery, but after a misunderstanding from the gang, the tickets fall off the balcony and half of them are only found. Phoebe wins three bucks.

This episode "The One With The Lottery" is a funny, exciting and definitely one of my favorites!moreless

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Goof: When Ross arrived at Monica and Chandler's apartment just before the lotto drawing, the friends were surprised to see him. Monica said since he was there, she wanted him to participate in their lotto ticket pool, so she would put in $50 for him (and Ross then said he'd pay for the tickets himself). Since no one (including Monica) knew Ross would be there for the drawing, how did Monica know to get 50 extra tickets when she was in Connecticut? And why didn't this alert everyone else to the fact that Monica bought many more tickets than the agreed upon number?

    • Goof: At the very start of the episode when the camera zooms in on Central Perk, you clearly see a man in a white t-shirt in the window. However when the camera changes it is an old man in black with a hat on, sitting next to a woman.

    • Goof: When Phoebe runs out to the patio with the lotto tickets and they chase her. The window between Chandler and Monica moves up and down in between shots.

    • Goof: When Phoebe and Joey are in the process of breaking the wishbone, you can see Joey's thumb move up and down along the bone between shots.

  • QUOTES (12)

    • Chandler: Hey, there's two messages. They could be from work
      Monica: Play them!
Chandler: Okay. Here we go.(Plays messages)
Phoebe: (On machine) Hello, this is the pigeon from the balcony calling to apologize. I shouldn't have knocked the tickets out of the pretty lady's hand. It was my fault, not hers. Bye. Cooo.

    • Joey: Hey, that is so great about the job.
      Chandler: Thanks, man.
Joey: And I like to think I had a little something to do with it.
      Chandler: Really? What?
Joey: Well, before, with the wishbone... I didn't wish we would win the lottery, I wished you'd get the job.
Chandler: Oh, yeah? Listen, don't tell Monica, she'll rip your heart right out.
      Joey: Oh yeah.

    • Ross: (Running into Monica's apartment) They're towing your car, they're towing your car!
Monica: I'm parked in a garage on Morton.
Ross: They're towing a car. And I am seeing... spots.

    • Ross: You're not gonna win.
Rachel: I know the odds are against us, but somebody has to win and it could be us. And then how are you gonna feel? We're gonna be all like, "Everybody, let's take our helicopters up to the Cape." And you're gonna be like, (Imitating Ross' voice) "Oh, I can't, guys. I'll have to meet you up there. I gotta gas up the Hyundai."

    • Monica: (About Emma) How do you know she's gonna start talking?
Rachel: Well, when I talk to her I almost feel like she understands what I'm saying.
      Chandler: Kind of like Joey.
      Joey: What's that now?

    • Monica: (Giving Chandler the phone) It's your boss.
Chandler: Oh, yes, the sorry-I-rejected-you phone call. I'm not used to getting these from guys.

    • Rachel: This is just like the time they promoted Sandra over me at work.
Chandler: Was she related to Ralph Lauren?
Rachel: No, she was just much better at her job than me.

    • Rachel: Okay Mon, say that one of your special tickets win. How are you going to feel then, when you win the lottery and lose all of your friends?
Monica: Oh please, if I win the lottery you guys are not gonna leave me. Someone gave me a basket of mini-muffins last week and I couldn't get rid of you for three days.

    • Chandler: I can see the headlines now. "Lottery winner's friend, filled with regret, eats own arm."
Ross: Why would I eat my own arm?
Chandler: Ah no, you wouldn't, but it's our paper. We can write whatever we want.

    • Ross: (About Emma's first word) Use it in a sentence.
Rachel: Uh, okay. Emma just said gleba.

    • Ross: If we're going to do that, we should probably call me Daddy, too.
      Phoebe: I like that, Daddy.
Ross: I, uh, I was just talking about Rachel.
Phoebe: Oh, is Daddy getting angry? Is Daddy going to spank me?
Ross: Well, that depends. Have you been a bad g-- No, I can't.

    • Monica: I haven't won anything since the sixth grade.
      Chandler: Pie-eating contest?
Monica: Just because I was heavy, you assume that's the only way I could ever win something?
Chandler: No, I saw a picture of you covered in blueberries.
