Trivia: Joey wants to pool all the winnings ($300 million) and buy the NY Knicks. According to Forbes, $300 million was the original purchase price of the Knicks in 1997. At the time this program aired (April 2003), the team would have been worth considerably more. As of January 2016, the value of the team is listed by Forbes as $3 billion.
Of course, Joey's plan is all based on the assumption that if they won, they'd receive $300 million in cash. But if they took a lump sum payment, after taxes, they'd end up with less than half that. Naturally, you don't want to consider such pedestrian details when you're dreaming.
Goof: When Ross arrived at Monica and Chandler's apartment just before the lotto drawing, the friends were surprised to see him. Monica said since he was there, she wanted him to participate in their lotto ticket pool, so she would put in $50 for him (and Ross then said he'd pay for the tickets himself). Since no one (including Monica) knew Ross would be there for the drawing, how did Monica know to get 50 extra tickets when she was in Connecticut? And why didn't this alert everyone else to the fact that Monica bought many more tickets than the agreed upon number?
Goof: At the very start of the episode when the camera zooms in on Central Perk, you clearly see a man in a white t-shirt in the window. However when the camera changes it is an old man in black with a hat on, sitting next to a woman.
Goof: When Phoebe runs out to the patio with the lotto tickets and they chase her. The window between Chandler and Monica moves up and down in between shots.
Goof: When Phoebe and Joey are in the process of breaking the wishbone, you can see Joey's thumb move up and down along the bone between shots.
Monica: (about Emma) How do you know she's gonna start talking?
Rachel: Well, when I talk to her I almost feel like she understands what I'm saying.
Chandler: Kind of like Joey.
Joey: What's that now?
Monica: I haven't won anything since the sixth grade.
Chandler: Pie-eating contest?
Monica: Just because I was heavy, you assume that's the only way I could ever win something?
Chandler: No, I saw a picture of you covered in blueberries.
Ross: (bursting into Monica's apartment) They're towing your car, they're towing your car!
Monica: I'm parked in a garage on Morton.
Ross: They're towing a car. And I am seeing... spots.
Ross: You're not gonna win.
Rachel: I know the odds are against us, but somebody has to win and it could be us. And then how are you gonna feel? We're gonna be all like, "Everybody, let's take our helicopters up to the Cape." And you're gonna be like, (imitating Ross) "Oh, I can't, guys. I'll have to meet you up there. I gotta gas up the Hyundai."
Chandler: I can see the headline now: "Lottery winners' friend, filled with regret, eats own arm."
Ross: Why would I eat my own arm?
Chandler: Well, you wouldn't, but we own the paper, we can print whatever we want.
Ross: If we're going to do that, we should probably call me Daddy, too.
Phoebe: I like that, Daddy.
Ross: I, uh, I was just talking about Rachel.
Phoebe: Oh, is Daddy getting angry? Is Daddy going to spank me?
Ross: Well, that depends. Have you been a bad g-- No, I can't.
Rachel: Okay Mon, say that one of your special tickets win. How are you going to feel then, when you win the lottery and lose all of your friends?
Monica: Oh please, if I win the lottery you guys are not gonna leave me. Someone gave me a basket of mini-muffins last week and I couldn't get rid of you for three days.
Chandler: Hey, there's two messages. They could be from work
Monica: Play them!
Chandler: Okay. Here we go.(plays messages)
Phoebe: (on the machine) Hello, this is the pigeon from the balcony calling to apologize. I shouldn't have knocked the tickets out of the pretty lady's hand. It was my fault, not hers. Bye. Cooo.
Rachel: This is just like the time they promoted Sandra over me at work.
Chandler: Was she related to Ralph Lauren?
Rachel: No, she was just much better at her job than me.
Ross: (about Emma's first word) Use it in a sentence.
Rachel: Uh, okay. Emma just said "gleba".
Monica: (giving Chandler the phone) It's your boss.
Chandler: Oh, yes, the sorry-I-rejected-you phone call. I'm not used to getting these from guys.
Joey: Hey, that is so great about the job.
Chandler: Thanks, man.
Joey: And I like to think I had a little something to do with it.
Chandler: Really? What?
Joey: Well, before, with the wishbone... I didn't wish we would win the lottery, I wished you'd get the job.
Chandler: Oh, yeah? Listen, don't tell Monica, she'll rip your heart right out.
Joey: Oh yeah.
