Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • good

Phoebe talks Monica into letting her give her a massage but becomes disconcerted when Monica begins making sexual noises over how good pheobes massage is. Joey dreams about being with Rachel and betraying Ross which is funny. Rachel feels her baby kick for the first time and joey is there to feel it which upsets ross for not being there. so this is a very funny episode and a must reccomend.moreless

So this episode completely butchered Monica's character. They just changed her whole character for comic relief. Although we did get to see what that door lead to after 8 years, I just felt like they could have done better with that. They made Monica messy? Does that sound like Monica Gellar to anyone? The REAL Monica Gellar would have that closet spotless because it would bother her so much, that she wouldn't be able to sleep. If she freaked out about shoes being left out in the living room in season 1, she should freak out about this.

Now the positives: Joey continues to have an undenying strange love for Rachel. As a roommate, he is there for all the baby stuff, which Ross always misses. And he manages to forget Mona, big surprise. Her character can tend to be a tad forgettable so I don't blame Ross. Rachel moving in with Ross was good, good for plots anyway. Joey & Rachel did have a good run, but it's good that they're changing things up a bit in this sense. The father & mother of the baby living together but they're not together. Hilarious situation.

Now we have the plot for cheap laughs, which sometimes is a good thing. Monica making sex noises while Phoebe massages her was absolutely hysterical. The ending was priceless, could not stop laughing. Good episode overall.moreless
  • The Closet and what is in it...

Good episode! Monica has a sercret closet that no one knows about then Chandler suddenly wants to know whats in it. That was so funny they thought Richard was in there. Did Chandler even get his credit card since it fell in there? That would be funny if he got it then everything came out. I was so hoping that would happen. Monica's closet is messing but neat at the same time because she said she didn't want Chandler's stuff in it or it will screw it up. Joey's dream was so funny! That was the best part of the whole episode.moreless
  • Chandler goes throgh great lengths to discover what is in Monica's secret closet.

The One with the Secret Closet is amusing enough, but it seemed more of the same. Monica stays in character as disorganized in a plot line that she doesn't even appear in - Chandler wanting to find out what's in Monica's closet.

Rachel has false labor pains: it's an overused sit-com theme line. The twist on the doctor's confusion about who the father is is cut, but hardly ground breaking.

The final sub-plot deals with Phoebe's unwillingness to keep Monica on as a massage client, because of the perceived sexual responses. Again, it was amusing enough, but the stereotypes of the role characters were too exaggerated.moreless
  • What's in the closet?

The far back closet in Monica and Chandler's appartment, Chandler soon realises that in the ten years they have lived near eachother he has never looked inside that cupbaord.

With due reason, because inside that cupboard holds one of Monica's biggest secrets - that knowone is ever allowed to see.

Never mind, let's just use Monica's tools to open it.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (10)

    • Trivia: When Joey is talking to Chandler about Rachel just having moved in with Ross, Joey is drinking juice. On the juice bottle the brand name is partly blacked out. Instead of "Minute Maid", it says "Vinut Vaia".

    • Goof: After Rachel agrees to move in with Ross, as he pats her stomach, you can see the edge of the fake pregnancy belly.

    • Continuity: When Chandler leaves Monica and Phoebe in the kitchen, he carries the ugly punch bowl with him to the bedroom. In subsequent shots, however, the punch bowl is still on the kitchen table.

    • Continuity: In this episode, Joey says that giving Rachel pickles is like giving him a salad. However in "The One Where They're Up All Night" Joey says he should always order both soup and salad.

    • Trivia: In this episode you can see the fourth wall in Monica and Chandler's apartment.

    • Magna Doodle: A drawing of a hockey goalie

    • Goof: When Rachel comes into Joey's room after the opening credits, he says he is not wearing any bottoms. But as he pulls the sheet around him, you can see that he is actually wearing neutral boxer briefs. You can also see it when Rachel tells him to fix the sheet.

    • Continuity: When Joey asks Chandler for a bobby pin, and Chandler says he doesn't have one. Chandler says he'll go see if Monica has one. Joey says sure, "Monica." He used the air quotes correctly when he says Monica. However he claimed he has no idea what the air quotes mean in "The One Where Emma Cries".

    • Continuity: Monica is nervous about Phoebe giving her a massage, but in "The One Where Rosita Dies", Phoebe mentions that Monica and Ross were her only massage clients since the beginning of the year.

    • Continuity: In this episode, it says that no one has ever seen inside the closet but in "The One with the Routine" when Phoebe and Rachel are looking for their Christmas presents, Rachel goes into the closet and there is nothing wrong with it.

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Chandler: You know, I've been living here for awhile and I've never seen what's inside that closet. What is in there?
      Monica: Feminine stuff.
Chandler: Don't try to make me uncomfortable with "feminine stuff"!
Monica: Chandler, there is nothing in there that concerns you. If you love me, you'll just... you'll let it go.

    • Phoebe: How would you feel if you couldn't share your cooking? Or, or imagine how Ross would feel if he couldn't teach us about dragons.
      Monica: (correcting her) ...Dinosaurs.
      Phoebe: Potato, potawto.

    • Phoebe: I've seen you naked hundreds of times.
Monica: That was different, we were roommates... and when?
Phoebe: I'm curious about the human body.

    • Chandler: (panicked, thinking Monica just came home) ...I wasn't trying to open your closet! I wasn't trying to open your closet! I swear!
Joey: Wow, Monica runs a pretty tight ship around here, doesn't she? What are you doing?
Chandler: Monica has a secret closet and she won't let me see what's in it.
      Joey: Why not?
Chandler: I don't know. What could she possibly be hiding in here that I can't see?
      Joey: I don't know... Oh! I bet it's Richard.
Chandler: Why would Monica be keeping Richard in here?
Joey: Well, off the top of my head, maybe she's having her cake and eating it too. You being the "cake" and Richard being the "too".

    • Joey: (trying to get the closet open) Oh, hey! Do you have a bobby-pin?
Chandler: Yeah. (runs his hands through his hair) Oh no, wait, I'm not a nine year old girl!
Joey: Then why do you throw like one?

    • Joey: (to Chandler) I saw this movie once, where there was this door, and nobody knew what was behind it. And when they finally got it open, millions and millions and millions of bugs came pouring out, and feasted on human flesh! (having scared himself) You know, it wouldn't kill you to respect your wife's privacy!

    • Ross: (referring to Braxton-Hicks contractions) Oh. Oh. Thank God, that's no big deal. Most women don't even feel them.
Rachel: Okay, no uterus, no opinion.

    • Ross: Look, I don't want to miss any more baby stuff, so here... Here's my new pager number, okay? Anytime anything pregnancy-related happens, use it. I'll be there! I don't care if it's three in the morning and all you want is some ice cream.
Joey: Hey, can I get a copy of that?

    • Chandler: (to Monica) Look, I don't love you because you're organized, I love you in spite of that.

  • NOTES (3)

    • Monica: It's not because she hates Enya.

Enya is a four time Grammy Award- winning singer and songwriter.

    • Rachel: Who's that kind of annoying girl soccer player?
      Joey: Mia Hamm?

Mia Hamm, a former American soccer player, scored more international goals in her career than any other player, male or female.

    • Joey: Easy there, Captain Kirk.
This is a reference to Captain James T. (Tiberius) Kirk, the captain of the USS Enterprise on the sci-fi series Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. He is played by William Shatner.

    • Chandler: (after discovering what is in Monica's secret cupboard) I married Fred Sanford.
This is a reference to the sitcom Sanford and Son, where Fred Sanford is a junk dealer. After this quote, Chandler precedes to sing the show's theme song.
