Factual Error: Days of our Lives is filmed in Los Angeles, California, but Friends is set in New York City.
Trivia: While sitting in Central Perk, Phoebe says her surprised/defeated "Oh, no" for the first time when she hears that Lorne Greene is dead.
Goof: Ross is dating the curator of moths and other wing-ed things from the museum. Wouldn't the curator of moths and other wing-ed things and the curator of insects (which is a different woman that he dates) from "The One with the Stoned Guy" be the same thing, since moths are insects?
Trivia: The producers of the show have joked in the past that the character of Russ was played by a famous Croatian actor named Snaro, but Schwimmer has said that the name Snaro was a tribute to a friend of his.
Trivia: In Phoebe's Grandmother's apartment, an "original Buffay" (a work of art involving a woman coming out of a picture frame) can be seen in the background. These paintings figure later in Season 10's "The One with Ross's Grant".
Continuity: In this episode Phoebe says her father left her mother before she was born. However, in Season 5's "The One with Joey's Bag", Frank Buffay says he used to sing lullabies to Phoebe and Ursula, contradicting what Phoebe says in this episode.
Trivia: After her grandma gives Phoebe the keys to her cab, Phoebe looks at a picture of Albert Einstein and says, "Wish me luck, grandpa".
"Two of Them Kissed Last Night"
There was a girl, we'll call her Betty
And a guy, let's call him Neil.
Now I can't stress this point too strongly...
This story isn't real.
Now our Neil must decide
Who will be the girl that he casts aside?
Will Betty be the one who he loves truly?
Or will it be the one who we'll call... Lulie?
He must decide, he must decide,
even though I made him up, he must decide!
Trivia: Ross has a book about artist Henri Matisse on his coffee table, which you can see towards the end of the episode.
Trivia: The radio DJ says "Avery, Michelle's sorry she hit you with her car." Avery Michelle is series creator/producer Marta Kaufman's goddaughter. Her parents are who Carol and Susan were based on.
Goof: When Rachel reads the list you can see the back of the paper is blank and then later when she and Ross are at her door he tells her to read the back for Julie's list but the back is blank.
Trivia: In the opening scene, Chandler is wearing a loose-fitting, heavy sweater to suggest that he's put on weight. Ironically, Matthew Perry who plays Chandler, would have real weight problems later in the series.
Trivia: When Rachel says that Ross should have said something about his feelings for her and that he had a year in which to do so, she has a point. Despite her brief relationships with "Italian guys and ex-fiancées", Ross and Rachel really did spend a lot of time together, even alone as we learn in the Season 1 finale "The One Where Rachel Finds Out". Rachel mentions that she and Ross were out walking when she pointed out the brooch in the window that he ultimately bought her for her birthday. Alone together, no Paolo, no Barry, no cat--almost on a date. C'mon Ross!
Trivia: This is the first episode that you hear Gunther's name. When Rachel is closing up the coffee house, if you listen very close you can hear her say, "Goodnight, Gunther."
Continuity: In "The One with Frank Jr." Rachel tells Phoebe that she's not supposed to bring cups out of Central Perk. However, in this episode, not only does Phoebe drink from a cup outside of Central Perk, but Rachel brings it out for her. Also, in "The One with a Chick and a Duck" Gunther (who was actually the person to tell Rachel that the cups weren't supposed to be brought out of the coffee place) brings out a cup of cocoa for Rachel (possibly because of his feelings for her).
Goof: In the scene where Chandler is telling Monica that it will be a long time before she has to deal with her own baby, Monica folds her arms. When the camera angle changes, her arms are down by her sides. When the angle pans back to Chandler, her arms are folded again.
I'm in the shower and I'm writing a song
Stop me if you've heard it.
My skin is soapy, and my hair is wet,
and Tegrin spelled backward is Nirget.
Lather, rinse, repeat and lather, rinse, repeat
and lather, rinse, repeat... as needed.
"I Play For Me"
When I play, I play for me
I don't need your charity
La lalala lalalalalalala
lalala lalala lalalalalalala....
...was the double, double, double-jointed boy.
Stephanie knows all the chords...
Terry's a jerk!
And he won't let me work!
And I hate Central Perk!
You're all invited to bite me!
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It's not your fault.
Trivia: In this episode we learn that Ross has a Ph.D.
Continuity: Phoebe knows guitar chords in this episode, but not in "The One with All the Resolutions" three years later when she's teaching Joey to play the guitar.
