NBC (ended 2004)

  • Season 2 Episode 4: The One with Phoebe's Hus...

  • Continuity: Rachel says that Monica had sex with Fun Bobby out on the balcony. However in "The One Where Chandler Takes a Bath" Chandler wants to have sex on the balcony and Monica refuses.

  • Season 2 Episode 3: The One Where Heckles Dies

  • Goof: Chandler dials Janice's number from memory, but since he last saw her she got married. It's unlikely that she would still be reachable at her old single-woman number in her new home. If the phone she'd answered had been a cellphone, it might have made sense, but the phone she answers is clearly a land-line.

  • Trivia: The giant magnifying glass that Joey ultimately ends up with was a device sold in the 40's and early 50's to allow cheaper televisions--some with only 3", 5" or 7" screens--to have a more viewable picture area. With the introduction of more affordable large-screen televisions they were discontinued.

  • Goof: Mr. Heckles' apartment in this episode definitely doesn't seem to be located directly underneath Monica and Rachel's, and also is not the same apartment as shown in previous episodes.

  • Goof: In the scene when Ross and Phoebe are talking about evolution and Phoebe tells him that he believes in something and she doesn't, she turns and she's asking "Why not?" but her lips are not moving.

  • Goof: In the scene where the gang is at Mr. Heckles' apartment, Ross tries to explain evolution to Phoebe with bird models. At one point he drops the first bird but when the camera angle changes, the model is still there.

  • Factual Error: In the scene where Joey tells the gang that he used to date a girl with a big Adam's apple, they all tell him that "women don't have Adam's apples." Actually, women do have Adam's apples. Everybody does, however, in women, they aren't as large or as apparent, due to less cartilage protruding.
Note: Although it is obviously true that women have cartilage in their throats, it is the "protruding" cartilage, only found in men, that the term "Adam's apple" refers to, not the cartilage itself. Therefore, the statement, "Women don't have Adam's apples" is correct.

  • Goof: When the gang is in Heckles's apartment and the door is open, you can see there is a door at the end of the hallway. Since Heckles lives beneath Monica and Rachel, the stairs should be there, or at least the hallway should continue. When you see the hallway outside Monica and Rachel's apartment, the stairs are there. Therefore the layout of the building is inconsistent and incorrect. Also in "The One Where the Monkey Gets Away" when Ross knocks on Heckles's door, the stairs are where they should be.

  • Trivia: In "The One Where the Monkey Gets Away" Joey asks Mr. Heckles for the giant magnifying glass. At the end of this episode he ends up with it. Of course, as with many oddball items introduced in an episode, that is the last we see of it.

  • Continuity: Joey talks about how a girl he dated had the biggest Adam's apple. But in "The One Where They All Turn Thirty" Joey still thinks the Adam's apple is named after each individual person, referring to his "Joey's apple".

  • Season 2 Episode 2: The One with the Breast Milk

  • Trivia: Joey's cologne-selling job is at Saks Fifth Avenue.

  • Season 2 Episode 1: The One with Ross's New G...

  • Trivia: Interesting that although Phoebe could confuse Dudley Moore and Demi Moore as well as Andie MacDowell and Roddy McDowall, she knew their hairstyles from memory. Of course, if she'd been working from photographs, as one would expect, there would be no confusion, and therefore no comic situation.

  • Goof: After Ross and Julie arrive home from China, Ross says that they need to get some sleep because it is 6 o'clock tomorrow night their time. However, China is only 12 hours ahead and it was nighttime in New York (meaning it would be morning in China).

  • Trivia: Paolo says "Buongiorno a tutti" to the gang, which means "Good Morning to all of you."

  • Continuity: In this episode Joey says that he has been going to the same tailor for 12 years, since he was 15 or 16 years old. This must mean he is about 27 now, and therefore has aged 2 years since "The One with the Birth" where he said he was 25. That was only several months ago.

  • Trivia: When Ross and Rachel are talking out on the balcony, an instrumental variation on the Friends theme song, "I'll be there for you" can be heard.

  • Goof: When Rachel is trying to leave the airport but falls over the chairs, you can clearly see she lands on a big mat.

  • Continuity: When Monica tells the rest of the gang that Rachel went to the airport and she was going to go for it with Ross, they all looked surprised, even Chandler. In the last episode of Season 1, however, when Rachel was leaving for the airport, she ran into Chandler in the hall and told him it was "a good going to the airport".

  • Season 1 Episode 24: The One Where Rachel Find...

  • Goof: Rachel says that Ross mentioned asking her out her first night in the city, but it was actually her second night in the city. Rachel's first night in the city, Monica slept with Paul the wine guy, Ross, Joey and Chandler assembled furniture, and Rachel watched Joanie Loves Chachi while clutching her wedding gown. The following morning Rachel made coffee for the first time in her life and went shopping. It was the evening of that second day when she and Ross shared the last Oreo and Ross mentioned maybe asking her out.

  • Trivia: This is the first episode to mention Rachel's habit of exchanging gifts. This habit becomes a running joke throughout the series.
