Trivia: In this episode and many later episodes, the gang make fun of Chandler for emphasizing the wrong words when he talked. (Could that report be any later?) Chandler had only done this once before on Friends, in "The One With The Butt".
Trivia: In the hospital, Monica sees a mother go by with twins and says, "No fair! I don't even have one. How come they get two?". Chandler then suggests that if neither of them is married by the time they're forty, why don't they get together and have a baby. What's interesting is that in that simple little exchange their actual future nine years later is defined. They do ultimately end up together and like the woman who just went by, get to have twins.
Trivia: Susan says that Carol's contractions are 55 seconds apart, and Ross says 59 seconds, suggesting that his timing is more accurate because his watch is "Quartz--ha!". Susan trumps him by saying that her watch is "Swiss quartz--ha, ha!". In truth, a four-second difference in their watches in the course of a minute suggests that one of their watches needs repair, regardless of it's advertised accuracy.
Trivia: When Rachel comes back to the hospital and is all dressed up you can see that the shoes she is wearing are identical to the ones Paolo gives her in the episode "The One Where Nana Dies Twice".
Goof: On the sign outside Carol's hospital room, "NURSERY" is spelled "NUSERY".
Continuity: Joey's age is not consistent. In this episode (1995) Joey says he is 25. In "The One Where Joey Moves Out" (1996) Joey says he is 28. In "The One with the Red Sweater" (2001) Chandler says Joey is 32. In "The One with Joe's Fridge", Joey says he went on Spring break in 1981 when he was 13. That would make him 27 in this episode, not 25.
They're tiny and chubby and so sweet to touch,
and soon they'll grow up and resent you so much.
Now they're yelling at you and you don't know why,
and you cry and you cry and you cry.
And you cry and you cry and you cry and you cry...
And they found their bodies the very next day,
they found their bodies the very next day,
La la la, la la la, la la la...
Continuity: In this episode Joey says he is 25, and in the previous episode, "The One with the Ick Factor", Monica said she was 26. However, as the series goes on it is shown that Joey is actually older than Monica and many of the other friends. In "The One Where They All Turn Thirty" we learn that Joey turned 30 before Chandler, and since Chandler is the same age as Ross, Monica's older brother, we can deduce that Joey is also older than Monica in later episodes.
Goof: Rachel says that Ross mentioned asking her out her first night in the city, but it was actually her second night in the city. Rachel's first night in the city, Monica slept with Paul the wine guy, Ross, Joey and Chandler assembled furniture, and Rachel watched Joanie Loves Chachi while clutching her wedding gown. The following morning Rachel made coffee for the first time in her life and went shopping. It was the evening of that second day when she and Ross shared the last Oreo and Ross mentioned maybe asking her out.
Trivia: This is the first episode to mention Rachel's habit of exchanging gifts. This habit becomes a running joke throughout the series.
Goof: When Rachel is on the balcony with her date Carl, a set worker dressed in black is visible on the left side of the screen.
Continuity: Rachel's birthday is inconsistent. In "The One with Joey's New Girlfriend", Rachel tells Gunther her birthday is May 5, and this is consistent with the month of birthday parties thrown for her in this episode (which aired in May 1995) and in her one-month-early surprise party in "The One Where Rachel Smokes" (which aired in April 1999). Rachel's 30th birthday, however, is celebrated in February in "The One Where They All Turn Thirty", which aired on February 8, 2001. Rachel also mentions that her birthday is after Valentine's Day in "The One with the Girl From Poughkeepsie". A birthday in February is also consistent with Rachel's statement to a police officer in "The One with Chandler's Dad" that she is an Aquarius (January 21- February 19).
Trivia: Interesting that although Phoebe could confuse Dudley Moore and Demi Moore as well as Andie MacDowell and Roddy McDowall, she knew their hairstyles from memory. Of course, if she'd been working from photographs, as one would expect, there would be no confusion, and therefore no comic situation.
Goof: After Ross and Julie arrive home from China, Ross says that they need to get some sleep because it is 6 o'clock tomorrow night their time. However, China is only 12 hours ahead and it was nighttime in New York (meaning it would be morning in China).
Trivia: Paolo says "Buongiorno a tutti" to the gang, which means "Good Morning to all of you."
Continuity: In this episode Joey says that he has been going to the same tailor for 12 years, since he was 15 or 16 years old. This must mean he is about 27 now, and therefore has aged 2 years since "The One with the Birth" where he said he was 25. That was only several months ago.
Trivia: When Ross and Rachel are talking out on the balcony, an instrumental variation on the Friends theme song, "I'll be there for you" can be heard.
Goof: When Rachel is trying to leave the airport but falls over the chairs, you can clearly see she lands on a big mat.
Continuity: When Monica tells the rest of the gang that Rachel went to the airport and she was going to go for it with Ross, they all looked surprised, even Chandler. In the last episode of Season 1, however, when Rachel was leaving for the airport, she ran into Chandler in the hall and told him it was "a good going to the airport".
