Does anyone have any back story on why Nimoy decided to come out of retirement for the final two episodes?

In 2010, the media was abuzz with stories of his retirement from stage and screen.

Try this link below and enjoy. In short, he came out of retirement since he really liked the show and the character William Bell.

SO glad that he stepped out of retirement! I was cheering when he appeared on screen again, especially since Bell-y was always being mentioned by Walter. I kept wishing he wasn't in retirement because he's just such a great addition to the show.
