  • Trivia

    • When Peter discovers that Walter is sitting in the closet again, he is first shown wearing dark boxer shorts while putting on a dark shirt. In the closeup shot of Walter, we can see that Peter is now wearing gray sweat pants.

    • When Walter tries to lull himself to sleep at the end of the episode, he recites to himself the Fibonacci series - a series of numbers where each number is the result of adding the two previous ones. The real series starts as: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 while Walter recites 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 8, 13. Besides the modern misconception that the series starts with 0, Walter omits the 5.

    • When Olivia and Peter enter the motel room, Peter closes the door behind him. A couple of shots later, A policeman can be seen through the open door without anybody having gone in or out of the room.

    • Near the end of the episode when Peter was shooting at Dr. Penrose we see that he shot only three bullets, After that we can clearly see the exposed barrel of the gun as the slide stayed in the back of the gun. This only happens when the magazine is empty of bullets. Any average magazine holds at least 10 bullets in it, so it cannot be empty after three shots unless Olivia keeping it on purpose half empty.

    • The glyph cipher spells "child."

    • Trivia In front of the Massive Dynamic Building you can see a one way sign that has the words "Voces Video" on it. This is a Latin word that translates into "To See Voices. This is a clue towards the next episode "The Ghost Network."

    • Trivia: Walter's locker combination is "31", "41", and "59" these number make up the first six digits of PI, 3.14159.

    • Trivia: While the team is walking through the hospital to see the dead new-born, The Observer may be seen standing in the background.

  • Quotes

    • Phillip: What they realized was that the child wasn't just growing... it was aging.
Peter Okay... hang on a sec. It's four a.m. so I'm a little foggy but we're supposed to believe that grandpa here was born four hours ago.

    • Walter: About my former colleague and his son. It's one of the inherent pitfalls of being a scientist, trying to maintain that distinction...between God's domain and our own. Sometimes I forget myself. But then, you already know that.
      Olivia: What do you mean?
Walter: If you've read my file, then you know the truth about Peter's medical history. I've been meaning to ask you-
Olivia: Walter. There was no mention of any medical history. Just his birthday.
Walter: Oh. Uh-I was going to ask you to keep it between just the two of us, but-uh-I suppose then there's no need.

    • Peter: (over the phone) Walter, I am with a woman in her mid-twenties, she is going into cardiac arrest due to an overdose of anesthesia. (pauses) Her heart just stopped.
Walter: Do you have any cocaine?
Peter: Cocaine?! No, I don't have any cocaine.
Walter: Oh, that's too bad. You'll have to shock her heart.

    • Broyles: Is he coming out?
Peter: Well, that's unclear. He's currently in the car fiddling around with the seat warmer.
Broyles: Dr. Bishop, hello. I appreciate you coming out tonight.
Walter: I've never seen a feature like this before. It warms your ass. It's wonderful. Have you tried it?

    • Peter: Come on, Olivia, I can do this. My limited stint at M.I.T. did teach me something.

    • (Peter finds a jar with a severed hand in it)
      Peter: Friend of yours?
Walter: Oh… I certainly hope not.

    • Olivia: I need a cross check of recent unsolved homicides. See if any bodies have turned up with a missing pituitary gland.
Charlie: Oh, you say the sweetest things.
      Olivia: Only to you, Charlie.

    • Peter: And the killer's condition was passed on to the baby.
Walter: Even condoms are not 100% effective. You two should be aware of this. That night he was going to kill her. But first they fornicated. Had intercourse, sex.
      Peter: Okay, we get it.

    • Peter: Something on your mind?
Walter: Please. The term "on your mind" vexes me with its depictive inaccuracy.
Peter: Aw, stop. Would you just talk like a person? What are you thinking?

    • Walter: Impatient! You always were.
Peter: As if you ever knew me well enough to make a statement like that.
Walter: Hah! You are a smart boy, but there is much you don't know.

    • Olivia: She offered me a job.
Broyles: And what did you say to that?
Olivia: I told her you were going to give me a raise.

    • The Kip Brothers by Jules Verne
This novel featured solving a crime by obtaining a latent image from the retina of the murder victim. Walter Bishop would have had to read this novel in the original French, since the first English language edition wasn't published until May 2007.
