Did anyone else turn on the TV on Friday to see if a new Fringe episode would come on?

In the back of my mind, I wished that Walter didn't have to go with the boy and that September went with his son, but at the same time I knew it had to be done.

I stopped watching a few weeks ago, should i finish the last 4 episodes? I havent been able to bring myself to watch them. And I do know thet JJ abrams could not finish a show (WELL) if his life depended on it, so i'm a little stuck.

JJ Abrams didn't write the Series Finale, or have much to do with Fringe creatively since the Pilot. The showrunner, Joel Wyman wrote and directed the Finale, and if you watched the previous 96 episodes...you're going to want to watch the final four. A lot is tied up within the mysteries of the show...of course you're going to have SOME problems with the finale as nothing is perfect...but it's at least a 9/10. Trust.

Poor Olivia, she alwas had the hardest weight on her arms. I don't know about you, but for me it' pretty obviuos Olivia was the only one who remembered everything at the end.

I thought Peter might've too...after receiving the Tulip. But yes, Olivia's facial expression in the park was a dead giveaway. She now has the memories of what, 3 different timelines? love it

So it's a farewell. Somehow I do not feel sad.

We all agree that the final scene shouldn't be possible, right ? No Observers means that Walternate cures Peter, he lives on the Red side, and never meets Olivia ! But he did anyway, so how is it possible ? My guess : Walternate did cure Peter, but Elizabeth can't live without her son ( she committed suicide for that very reason in the "both Peters died" timeline ), and Walter crosses over to steal Peter to ease her pain. It makes Walter a little more selfish than in the version of events we've seen, but that's the best theory I have. What's yours ?

So we have ways to fill in the blanks. But be assured, that the final scene with Olivia, Peter, and Etta was NOT a mistake by the writers or producers, It was meant to be there. The finale was not perfect, but it was handled well. Maybe the Observers did exist in the future and still came back to view their origins of human history but did so with emotions, instead of without, SO maybe September still distracted Walternate, since it was his emotion as a father that made him distract Walternate in the first place.

See here's the thing. Yes, it would seem that when Walter brought Michael to the future WE ASSUME that the Observers never existed. Which would make since, which would mean September never distracted Walternate from finding the cure and thus Walter never crossed the other side to find Peter. But as of "The Day We Died" both Peters died after Walter saved him from the other side. Peter became a Paradox who was brought back into the current timeline due to Olivia's Cortexiphan Powers and Walter & Olivia's memories/love for him from the original timeline.

I have written it somewhere already. My version is different from yours but not much. We know that Water was saved by September. When the time loops, this has never happened. So Walter drowns and is not able to help Peter, who in turn dies in the alternate world. The whole story we watched never really happened (because of the time loop). We (viewers) do meet Olivia who investigates some fringe events, but she is never assisted by Walter or Peter.

but how do you explain the end scene with Peter, Olivia and Etta then ?

It's a logical mistake by the script-writers.

I think everything that happened before the invasion actually took place. The timeline was only reset after that moment.

We would all like it to be that way, so we want to believe it. TIme-looping is so beyond our understanding that we just want to accept the happy end. But in my opinion the only possible reality is cause and effect. So there is no happy end of the story simply because there was no story. All other solutions do not agree with the cause and effect order.
