Adrift in a sea of strangers in strange locations, Kimble, on the hunt for the one-armed man who actually committed the crime, desperately tries to avoid being captured by Lt. Philip Gerard (Mykelti Williamson, "The New WKRP in Cincinnati"), who always seems to be only two steps behind. From week to week, Kimble searches city after city for the elusive killer whose capture would finally allow him to prove his innocence and return to his former life. In constant flight in his quest for justice, Kimble touches many lives, but the encounters are ended as suddenly as they have begun when the fugitive is forced to escape to yet another city." - CBS press release.''''CBS premiered the much-hyped new action series on its Friday night lineup, which included fellow action series "Nash Bridges" and newcomer "CSI." Many predicted the new version of "The Fugitive" would become one of CBS's greatest hits, but the show only earned decent ratings for its first episode (curiously, everybody thought "CSI" was too morbid and wouldn't live to see a pickup, and it turned out to be the big hit "The Fugitive" was supposed to be). From then on ratings fell to an underexpected average, and eventually CBS decided to revitalize its Thursday nights with ratings magnet "CSI," bumping Dick Van Dyke's "Diagnosis Murder" to Fridays, where it took "The Fugitive"'s old time slot. Even with a good lead-in the ratings didn't rise (the show aired opposite "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," which at the time drew huge numbers, giving the show a push to death). At the end of the season, CBS decided to cancel the entire lineup. The 21st century incarnation of the 1960's classic and 1990's movie. Dr. Richard Kimble is accused of murdering his wife, but knew it was the work of a one-armed man. On his way to prison, there is a crash and he flees the scene and is on the run.moreless

At times this show was great, and others it was good. I really wished this show made it, as I wished to see how it would all end. Unfortunately they put it on Friday night, when people hit the bars after work and I am guessing that is what killed ratings.

The show was intense at times, a little too intense. I also think that killed it as they put all their efforts into some shows and exhausted all of their future ideas, leaving for an uneven flow of action from episode to episode (rmember the first season of Family Guy? Seemed like all the material was used up in the first four episodes and the show was just "okay" after that).moreless

No doubt this show captured the american audiance to now end. There was never a day following the show that people were not talking about it the next day. It was clean and written extremely well. We need more of this type of tv today.moreless

One day they will look back on this show as one of the classic tv shows ever. Anyone who watched it just once was addicted and locked on it like a magnet to steel. This show taught us we didn\'t need the sex and the violence that todays shows subject us to. David and the other cast members took ever \"take\" so serious. It was always a moving drama with no \"dead air\". Watch any of the episodes and then watch anything today on TV. It\'s no contest. Call me old fashion, it\'s a label I will proudly accept if it means to preserve the type of TV that had universal appeal.moreless
