Why was there someone else playing Danny Tanner before Bob Saget had the role.

no, John Posey got the role and then when they saw Bob Saget, they immediately went with him

Yeah, i think Bob was busy with some other things then, so they cast John, but then like sss said, once he wasn't as busy they took him for the role.

Here's some specifics: CBS has never had a successful morning show unlike GMA on ABC or NBC's Today Show. One format that CBS tried about the time they were casting for Full House (early 1987) was called the Morning Program; where Bob was serving as "comedy contributor". That format bombed after 11 months before CBS retooled to "CBS This Morning" and ultimately "The Early Show". Saget (who the FH producers wanted from the beginning, I think) left by June...and the rest is history.

    Sorry about the history lesson.

I'm not posotive but: I read somewhere that Jeff Franklin (or who ever) asked Bob to FUll House, but he had an other project, but then he got fired and he joined the Hull House crew.
