This is the 1st episode where we finally see the Arbalest's full potential. That includes Souske getting along with it as well.
Kaname didn't appear in this episode.
The loss of Sousuke's entire team in this episode causes problems for him to use Arbalisk in the future.
Its also hinted in this episode that Kaname and Sousuke may be becoming aware of each other's feelings--Kaname waits for Sousuke to come home in front of his apartment door.
The door of the airliner is shown opening outwards. However, pressurized aircraft, especially civilian ones, generally have doors that open inwards, so that aircraft pressure prevents them from accidentally opening in flight.
This episode is one of the first times that the audience gets to see Sousuke put his real skills to work in a potentially dangerous situation. Its also interesting to note that he seems most "human" when doing his duty.
When Kaname puts her hand up to support her chin while sitting on the bench after waking the local idiot (Sousuke), her elbow isn't supported by anything but the air. There is about two inches of nothing between her arm and her bag.
When Sousuke jumps off the train and Kaname stands there shocked, there is wind blowing through the sukura tree and when it reaches her only her skirt blows around, not her hair or anything else except the trees and her skirt.
Kaname's profile has a bunch of entries in English. We learn she ran away from home at an early age, then moved to the USA where she lived in Orange County, New York when she was in elementary and middle school, got a medal in a track tournament, lost her mother in an accident, moved back to Japan, but her sister Ayame and her father moved to New York again.
