If you look closely the man with General Hakuro when he visits Roy Mustang is Frank Archer a character who is officially introduced three episodes later.
Manga vs. Anime:
1) Paninya stole Ed's watch; Winry didn't give it to her.
2) Ed was the only one who cheated at the automail arm-wrestling competition after his height was insulted and wasn't caught.
Look Carefully:
The man who enters Dominic's automail store has a large stack of cash sticking out of his shirt pocket. At the automail arm-wresting contest, the man makes a snide comment about Paninya's automail. The huge stack of money is no longer in his pocket, although his mechanical arm does not appear to be different from the one he had earlier in the automail store.
Look Carefully:
In the first shot of Dominic's shop there's a wanted poster for Lieutenant Yoki, the greedy officer from Youswell.
Paninya: You know, when you can't win by using your legs, there's always Alchemy!
Ed: Screw you!
Contest Barker: No, I couldn't possibly ask this shrimp... to take on the champ!
Ed: I'm not a shrimp!
Contest Barker: Whoa, you're a pretty feisty shrimp, aren't you? Looks like you salvaged that auto-mail from the bottom of a scrap heap!
Winry: Alphonse... let go of your brother.
Winry: Ed, did you use Alchemy?
Ed: Yeah...
(Winry beats Ed with her Wrench)
Winry: Hi, it's a real pleasure to meet you, sir! I'm Winry Rockbell visiting from Risembool. I'm an auto-mail mechanic too!
Dominic: (Panicking) Did you say you're a Rockbell out of Risembool? Are you related to Pinako?!
(An image of a younger, taller Pinako laughing maniacally pops into Dominic's mind)
Dominic: The Leopardess of Risembool! ...I can still hear the bone-chilling laugh!
Ed: Damnit! She's like a freakin' cat!
Winry: Edward, if you lose I'll kick your ass!
Mustang: I'm on my way to the top. You coming with me?
Hawkeye: You know the answer to that.
This is the first episode in season 3.
Characters introduced: Izumu Curtis, Sig Curtis, Paninya, Dominic
New Ending Theme: Motherland by Crystal Kay
The Opening Theme remains Ready, Steady, Go!
Reference to England:
The invoice that Lt. Ross hands Mustang from the Elrics mentions "Modern Britain" on the form letter accompanying the invoice.
The full text of the letter is as follows:
"Dear Colonel Roy Mustang,
Please have the HQ pay all the bills for my hospitalization, medication, food, etc. This section, by featuring a number of objects of special from the contemporary collection of the Science Museum, shows how broad and multi-faceted the contribution modern Britain is making to science and technology, and also sheds light on the Science Museum's policy.
Thanks,
Edward Elric"
Britain was also mentioned in episode 6, "The Alchemy Exam".
