This is bad news of epic proportions. I cannot imagine this show even existing without the original voice actors. That's tantamount to replacing all the Simpsons voice actors, its just not a good idea no matter how you spin it. I cannot imagine how this could turn out good in any way. I sure hope there will be a huge uproar about this.

I think it's just FOX playing hardball, and that they'll never actually replace the cast. They know that Futurama has a select fanbase that won't accept replacement voice actors. They also know that the cast love doing the show. I reckon this is just FOX flexing their muscles to get the deal they need.

$75,000/episode, and that's not enough? Would any of you turn down that kind of money for just a few hours of work a week?
If those actors really believe they are better than every body else, then Fox should tell them to buzz off. $1.65 million per year is what they will be throwing away. If the average person makes $50,000/yr, it would take 33 yrs to make that kind of money.

Considering that the most recent batch of Futurama episodes bordered on the boring, and weren't funny or even satirical in the slightest, I'm not all that concerned.

Isn't your Leo quote supposed to be

Who's going to do Fry's and Bender's voices now? Charlie Adler and Jim Cummings? I'll still watch the show, no matter what.

Futurama without the original voice cast = not Futurama = fan boycott = epic fail.

Anyone on Facebook who wants to know how to let the powers that be know just how they feel about this ridiculousness, join the following groups and follow the instructions:

Leave the cast of Futurama alone!!!!

    Save the Voices of Futurama

(Copied from Save the Voices of Futurama below):

    ####################################

Use YOUR voice to save THEIR voice

    Step 1:

Write an email with "Save the Voices of Futurama" in the subject line

    Step 2:

In the body of the email start with, "If the vocal cast of Futurama is changed I will not watch the new episodes"

    Step 3:

Add whatever additional comments you would like to make. Please be decent and respectful. Don't allow them to discount your opinion because of rude or crude comments.

    Step 4:

Send this email to the following addresses:

    futurama at scottmullercasting.com

    melissa.sugiura at mtvstaff.com

    steve.albani at comedycentral.com

    •••••Extra Credit/Extra Fun•••••

    Literally use YOUR voice instructions:

    Step 1:

Record an MP3 file in the voice of your favorite Futurama character saying, "Leave the cast alone!"

    Step 2:

Attach file to email with Subject "Casting call"

    Step 3:

    Send to futurama at scottmullercasting.com

We have until July 24th to make as much noise as we can. If you care about the integrity of the show, please take the time to participate in it's Futurama!

It's the day of the Futurama panel at Comic-Con

To refer to your earlier post where you linked to Evanier's blog, that makes sense, but you have to wonder why the studio bothers. Wouldn't the voice actors and their agents sort of know about that trick?

Personally I think it's a big prank to play along with their panel at comic-con. Here's the official write-up: "1:00-1:45 Futurama: Life or Death?!- Be a part of sci-fi history! Join executive producers Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, and stars Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, and Maurice LaMarche for high-stakes thrills as a top-ranking FOX executive decides live, on stage, whether Futurama will make yet another triumphant return or whether it is gone forever! The very fate of Futurama hangs in the balance! Paramedics will be standing by in case the intense excitement causes any panelists to collapse. Raucous celebration or abject despair to follow the news. Ballroom 20"

Though, they may need to announce sooner whether or not it's a joke or legit before Comic-Con. Otherwise you're walking into a building filled with pissed off fans. And the word needs to come from Groening or Cohen or a Fox exec who gives their name. Every story keeps quoting the same paragraph about negotiations with no name attached to it, and on top of that the story broke because of Facebook

    My words exactly.

With the budget already lower, I wasn't sure if it was even going to be worth tracking when the new episodes would air, but I still thought i'd try and see them..

W/o the original voice actors, there's no way i'll put forth an effort to see them.

Thanks for the explanation. It sure looks to me like that people know more than they're saying. Or they know less than they're saying and making things up. Either way, I personally think it's silly at this point to form groups, send in letters, send in recordings, etc.

the problem is the big wigs always try to rip everyone else off

so the question is are the voice actors going to be stupid enough to cave and let mr im rolling in cash win another round or is fox going to be stupid enough to believe the show can survive with new voice actors
