Near the end of the episode, as the trio travels into the year 3010, we see moments from several old episodes:
"Space Pilot 3000" - the destruction of New York City and the medieval reconstruction from when Fry was frozen.
"Love's Labours Lost in Space" - the Professor showing a hologram of Vergon 6.
"Amazon Women in the Mood" - Amy, Leela, Zapp and Kif discussing their upcoming double date.
"Future Stock" - Fry and That Guy waking the crew for a meeting.
"A Taste of Freedom" - Fry and Zoidberg dancing the Freedom dance.
"The Beast with a Billion Backs" - the Professor having been infested by Yivo, scaring Leela, Amy, Hermes and Wernstrom (who is coloured differently from the previous universe).
"Attack of the Killer App" - Fry, Hermes, Bender, Zoidberg and Amy playing with their eyePhones, and Leela crashing the ship.
The concept of time being cyclical was previously mentioned in "The Cryonic Woman" by the man who wanted to meet Shakespeare. Interestingly, in that episode Fry stated with confidence that it wasn't, but here it's proven that it is.
This episode reveals that Leela's birthday is on the 29th July, according to the time machine's display when Fry, Bender, and the Professor enter the machine for the first time.
The song played at the end of the episode is an altered version of "You are my Little Bird", a children's song written by Elizabeth Mitchell.
In a previous episode entitled "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back", it was established that bureaucrats must stamp forms 5 times.
However in this episode the bureaucrat at the entrance only stamped his forms 3 times, and he made this mistake 3 times!
The alien message Leela throws away reads: "Need extra cash? melt down your old; unwanted humans; we pay top dollar!"
When the Professor and Fry were propelled off into space, it explicitly states on screen 1 month passes before they arrive at Planet Vinci. It was never explained how they survived that long without food or water, as they weren't in suspended animation one presumes they must've needed to eat.
Oddly enough this episode contradicts a previous episode: I Dated a Robot, where they frown on Fry dating a robot, but everyone seems fine with Bender dating a human.
Fry asks (hypothetically) when the Internet became about humiliating your fellow man, Bender replies August 6, 1991. That was the day that Tim Berners-Lee posted his summary of the World Wide Web to the alt.hypertext news group. This could be seen as the day the world wide web was created.
Leela takes off her spacesuit even though her legs are "pinned" under the tree. If she had actually been pinned, she would not have been able to take it off. Since she is not actually pinned, she should have realized that the tree is movable.
Nixon's map of the Solar System shows that Uranus is now called Urectum. It also shows 9 planets instead of 8 (since 2006, Pluto is no longer considered a planet).
At the end, Robot Leela suddenly gets a wrist thingy, which disappears in the next shot. But as soon as she sheds her skin, the wrist thingy is on her skin.
Bender looses an eye and subsequently gets eaten by the Cyclops Eater, but in the shot where he emerges from the beasts mouth he has two eyes again. The next shot however he's back to having only one eye.
With this episode, the whole Waterfall clan is now dead.
In the Original Airing and the DVD, Calculon says his Operating System is Windows Vista, but in the most recent broadcasts of the movie, it was edited to say WINDOWS 7.
Hermes('s head) asks Bender to go back in time a few days and bring him his body before it was decapitated. While this worked for the art and such that Bender went back in time to steal, it makes no sense for Hermes' body. Once Bender decapitated Hermes, his body would have started to die and decay, so it would not have been viable a few days later; at least not without being frozen, which Bender was not shown to do (especially since Bender waited in the basement for time to pass, which is fine for art, but not a decapitated body).
After the Robot Devil grabs Nixon and sets off the smoke on stage, he seems to disappear, yet you can see him tiptoeing down the aisle.
