Commander Adama consults with the young prodigy Dr. Zee concerning the news that the fleet has at last found Earth. He is told that after coming so far, Earth does not appear to be technologically advanced enough to defend itself or protect the refugees from the Cylons. Dr. Zee tells him that not only can they not land, but they have in fact led the Cylons directly to Earth, the last human civilization.
Lieutenant Dillon passes children as he walks through some corridors. He enters a room and meets Captain Troy. He asks why Troy used to be called Boxey when he was young and see a photo of Troy's parents who are now gone.
Adama addresses an audience of senior officers. He tells them the information that Dr. Zee has gathered about Earth by monitoring transmissions. Dr. Zee shows them a video of Earth and teaches them of the pollution, followed by a simulation of Earth being attacked and destroyed by Cylon fighters. Adama explains that by landing, they would be dooming Earth as well as themselves. Xavier asks what they are to do now. Dr. Zee says that they have to wait for Earth to develop technologically, and that they can only nudge Earth to develop only slightly more than it would naturally. They will send down teams to secretly give technology to Earth scientists over time.
Adama tells his grandson Troy that some of the refugees will be able to live quietly in some remote corners of Earth.
Dr. Zee briefs the teams and demonstrates a new technology which can render anything invisible by covering it in a field of color whose frequency is beyond that which the human eye can detect. Unfortunately, the device requires too much power so it's to be used when it's not otherwise possible to hide the ships and only for so long.
The Vipers launch. Troy and Dillon fly to their assignment: the United States of America - Los Angeles. As they fly, they detect a radar scanning them.
On Earth, the military has detected two unidentified aircraft and jets are scrambled to investigate. The Earth jets attempt to intercept Troy and Dillon but lose them when the Vipers engage their cloaks and disappear.
Troy and Dillon land in a field. They activate their cloaks to hide the ships before heading off on their "motorcycles" to find Dr. Mortinson at the Pacific Institute of Technology. They drive down the freeway and are accosted by a motorcycle gang. They are told to pull over but activate the wings on their bikes and take flight, leaving the gang behind.
Later on, they hide the bikes and go to use a phone at a gas station. They use their arm devices to look up the meanings of various items as they try to figure out how to communicate with Dr. Mortinson. They watch and learn as a woman uses the phone. After she heads inside to get more change, they use their arm device to cause the phone to eject it's content of coins but are caught when she returns. She tells them to take off and uses the phone. The woman calls the television studio UBC and tells the secretary that her name is Jamie Hamilton and that she will be arriving soon for her job interview. The guys tell her that they are trying to get to the Institute to meet with Dr. Mortinson and ask her for a ride. She reluctantly agrees.
They arrive at the Institute and find a group of protesters. She tells them that the protest is about the dangers of nuclear power which Dr. Mortinson is working on. The guys find it surprising that they are making such a big deal about clean nuclear power. She tells them that since they are newcomers in LA like herself, they can contact her at UBC if they need to talk and then drives off.
Doctor Mortinson worries about the protesters and ponders using nuclear power with his assistant. A brick breaks the window so she calls the police when he leaves to get a broom. Troy and Dillon freeze the security guard and get on the elevator. The guard comes around and calls for backup. They guys enter Dr. Mortinson's office and ask the assistant to speak to him. They see the formula that he has been working on for years on the monitor. The guard calls up and tells the assistant that security will be coming upstairs in a moment and to try to stall them. The guys alter the formula and tell her to contact Jamie to get in touch with them then leave. They get caught by a police officer and are put in a police car. Dr. Mortinson returns and when he sees the new formula, he asks her who they were and says that they may be the most important thing to mankind today.
Jamie arrives for her interview but is given a frosty greeting from the secretary. The phone rings, it is the police station for Jamie; Dillon is calling her for help. She sees them on the news on one of the monitors and tells them to leave her alone and hangs up. The secretary fields another call to Jamie, this time from Dr. Mortinson. He asks her for information on the two mysterious strangers and how he can contact them. She doesn't know, but when the network executive Mr. Brooks finds out that the controversial Dr. Mortinson is calling his new prospective employee, he tells her to arrange a meeting with him. He offers her the job if she gets an exclusive interview with him.
Troy and Dillon are now stuck in jail. They use their cloaking devices to trick the guards into thinking that they are gone. When the guard opens the cell door to investigate, they slip out.
A boy plays fetch with his dog in the park and is shocked when he turns around to find a Viper suddenly there.
