One of the funniest moments in this episode is when the two Cylons are picked up at the side of the road. Lara Parker gets out of the car wearing fangs as a vampire and Roger Davis backs up. She takes out the fangs and assures him she's not a vampire. However, anyone who watched Dark Shadows knows that Lara Parker played Angelique, who was for a time a vampire, and Roger Davis played Jeff Clark, her victim. Talk about an inside joke! One has to wonder how Glen Larson managed to pull that one off & how many caught it!moreless

Kanon (Timothy O'Hagan) was a character who really brought this episode together. Without his brilliant performance this episode would have joined all of the other episodes which didn't have the priviledge of having the expertise of Kanon. This was the pivotal moment of the whole series, and perhaps television. Kanon made me laugh, cry, and contemplate the meaning of existence. He stood up bravely in the face of the cylon tyranny. It was Kanon's gorgeous face which brought out the beauty of Earth. The riviting on the edge of your seat action that kanon provided forced viewers to be sucked into the story line and love this show! Kanon was so wonderful, one wouldnt even notice Dillon.moreless

    • The film being shown at the movie theater, in which Dillon, Troy and the Space Scouts are members of the audience, is the 1955 science fiction movie "This Island Earth". Edit
    • The scene where Adama asks Dr. Zee why the Cylons don't simply wipe out the fleet is lifted from part one of "Super Scouts". Edit

    ADD NOTES
    • William Daniels, who plays the clown Norman, provides the voice of KITT in Glen Larson's "Knight Rider" series (1982-1986). Edit
    • This episode introduces a humanoid Cylon. The concept of Cylons who can pose as humans would become a focal plot point in the 2003 BSG remake. Edit

    ADD QUOTES
    • Dillon: ( to Troy) How do we get into these messes? Troy: How do we get out of them? Edit
    • Adama: ( referring to Cylons) If they're so all mighty powerful, why don't they simply destroy us? Zee: They wish to experiment with their new machines... Adama: Using us as living targets.... Edit
    • Boy: I know what happened. ( gesturing towards Troy and Dillon) Those two zapped them with the flashing lights. Captain: What did he say? Dillon: You know children... vivid imaginations.... Edit
  • Allusions

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Skylab: There are several references to the Cylon ship crashing being similiar to Skylab. In July 1979, the US satellite Skylab crashed into a desert area of Australia after intense speculation by scientists and others as to where it would crash. Edit
    • At the airport: "Hijack," "Smoking or Non-Smoking," "Cuba"
Troy and Dillon's experience in the airport represent a time long past where smoking was allowed on commercial flights and security was not sophisticated enough to spot them or detect their laser weapons. The hijack attempt represents a phenomenon of the time--Cuban refugees released by Castro and sent to the U.S. hijacking aircraft to return home. Edit
