I put it in my DVR because I enjoyed Spartacus and costume period pieces. I also DVR The Borgias and Camelot. After the 4th episode of G of T...I was hooked, the actor Sean Bean has made the show his own and the sets and costumes are first class. i dare to say that this might be the absolute Best series on television at this point and I am sorry to see it end.

Currently i am loving this show from episode 1!!! Cast is great and the story is keeping me watching it over and over! To all the people crying about not enough action etc, this show was never going to be about that. And also as they have said before, there is no good guy/bad guy feel to the show. Everyone has their own agenda to uphold in the show which brings exciting TV. There's so many characters in this show so that's why it's a little slow because they have to introduce them all and get the back stories of them.

This show does not need lots of action and sex to make it great. Its perfect the way it is. If you want blood/guts/sex etc... watch Spartacus (great show too by the way)

    New episode tonight WOO!

Thoroughly enjoying it! I read all four books when first published (BTW George R. still waiting patiently for the 5th!) I have found the characters quite similar to the original descriptions with the exceptions of Tyrion (described as grotesque but is cast as actually quite handsome) and Lysa (described as plump and puffy yet cast as quite thin). This has been the only series that has caught my attention and devotion since Tolkien's LOTR. I would highly recommend the books to anyone interested.

At what point did you lose interest? Bear in mind that this is not episodic TV, even though it is divided into episodes. The first half was setting the stage and introducing the characters and locations, the second half will be more "action-oriented". I put it in parenthesis since this is not an action show per se, but a drama with some action in it.

So far i've thoroughly enjoyed the show well written story, developed characters and an engrossing plot. I've heard it compared to camelot and spartacus but cant justify getting starz for 2 shows(but with torchwood coming we'll see) anyways haven't seen those but I did see Rome and am finding this to be of a similar taste but dare I say better

I don't get where this slowness is coming from, it's pretty intense story telling, pure gravy for he brain.

i guess you were expecting dragons and magic, as opposed to some deep twists mixed with building pressure and the occasional bursts of action

Don't really see how anyone could find it "slow", unless they are also "slow"...

Apparently our ADHD modern audience cannot pay attention long enough to actually take in a well-developed story, eh?

To be honest, I think it is not slow ENOUGH. The fact that HBO can get 13-14 episodes per season of True Blood out of a 300-some page book of Charlene Thomas just shows the disservice that this 850 page book is getting by being crammed into only 10 episodes. Hopefully they will gain an audience, and the future seasons can spread it out a bit more, at least give us the standard 13-14 episode season.

Indeed, it seems HBO rushed lots of information from the book(s) into one 10ep season, that with it's current potential and depth could've easily surpassed 15 ep/season. I think HBO needs to start investing more and more into this show.

what do u guys think will happen in the end...
I haven't read the book(if the series follows any) and i think that in the end khal drogo, cersie and jamie(maybe) will die.
ned won't sit on the throne(it will be his decision though)
dani will have the dragons but won't attack any peaceful land and robert or maybe his brother will be the king.
tywin may or maynot live.i'm also doubtful abt death of cersie.
also i don't know where the whitewalkers fit into that.

i bit dissapointed because of lack of action in the episodes which i thought would be in plenty after watching those evil creatures in the first 5 mins at the start of the season.the whitewalkers have been largely(infact totally) absent since then...

I'm not sure which end are you referring to. Season 1 (which i doubt will end with Khaleesi having dragons at her side, and i'm pretty sure Robert IS dead and will forever stay dead), or the series finale? (which is waaay to far to speculate)

As for the action scenes i'm pretty sure when they do happen, will be epic
