For one, it is confirmed that season 3 will roughly cover the first half of A Storm of Swords.

Updated the first post with many new roles confirmed by showrunner David Benioff for season 3. Two of those, Ramsay Snow and Vargo Hoat were not confirmed by Benioff, but there have been other sources for their inclusion. There will be more new roles and some old ones absent from season 2 will also return; so far at least Pypar has been confirmed to return.

Reek should be in Season 2, not just 3. Either way, I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Meera Reed and Jojen Reed should have been introduced this season. In the book they also escaped Winterfell with Bran and the others. It's also Jojen's idea for Bran to go North of the wall to find the one eyed crow!

Lord Beric Dondarrion appeared in season one. Ned Stark sent him to kill the mountain that moves.

Reek is already in the show. He is Theon Greyjoy.

Yes, but this is not the book(s). This is an adaptation of the entire series of novels, so they will shift things around. Season 2 was not an adaptation of A Clash of Kings, it was a partial adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire. There have been numerous changes to the books' version of the story with changes, additions, and omissions to characters, places, details, and plot developments. But some of the omissions are simply being delayed and we'll see them in the future in some form (with changed details most likely). The Reed siblings are one of these delays as are the Tully's and Riverrun which were introduced already in the first book but have only been mentioned a few times so far in the show.

True, but he was portrayed in it by a featured extra. He will be properly cast now that his role becomes more important to the TV show.

Theon was the third Reek in the books, but you are probably correct that he will be the only Reek in the show. If they even use that name at all, which they might not since the whole concept of Reek has not been introduced and it would require a previous Reek to do so. We'll find out eventually.

More casting updates. Theres some new characters that weren't in the book, maybe their combination of characters from the book. Most of the casting looks good but personally I'm disappointed with Edmure Tully and Meera Reed.

Diana Rigg is Olenna Redwyne the Queen of Thorns

    Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei

Paul Kaye is Thoros of Myr

Mackenzie Crook is Orell the skinchanger

    Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jojen Reed

    Ellie Kendrick as Meera Reed

    Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion

    Tara Fitzgerald as Selyse Baratheon

    Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane

    Philip McGinley as Anguy

    Tobias Menzies as Edmure

    Anton Lesser as Qyburn

The premiere date for Season 3 is Sunday, March 31, 2013.

I've updated the first post with that info as well as many actors and roles that have been confirmed lately. There are still many roles/actors to be revealed, though.

So far HBO has only confirmed that Iwan Rheon plays the role of "Boy" in Season 3. This "Boy" is most likely Ramsey Snow, but that is only speculation.

He's too old for Jojen Reed, IMO.

I can't believe it took so long makes you wonder what they've been shooting all this time. Personally I don't think Mance when I look at him but maybe he'll look better in costume.

He looks more like an olderJarl or a younger Styr to me.

But maybe they will sum up the three of them into the same character.

Mathos died in Blackwater last season.

The show established he was Davos's only son (so none of his brothers will appear in season 3).
