  • I love Price is Right. I love Ricki Lake. I love Prime Time. I love d-list celebs. Why don't isn't it all stur into a lovely soup?

    4.4
When I heard about the first episode of Game Show Marathon's first episode being price is right I was excited for a fun-filled episode. Sorry Ricki but you put me to shame. The first episode of GSM was very forced. It felt as if they were forcing it. Ricki Lake tried her best and did a good job with what they had. They had to make it over the top instead of the top prize on Plinko being 50,000 dollars it had to be 100,000. When Bob Barker hosts in daytime it gives the show a certain lightness. He doesn't have to force it opon us. The prizes are reasonable. It all comes together. GSM was shoved into my face. When I had enough spoonfulls were being litteritly shoved down my throat until I gagged. 4.4 is generous but because of Ricki Lake I had to give it more. Amazing super-duper concept = bad executution. I really wanted to like it but it wouldn't let me. I don't think I will watch this show again because chances are it will be like this every episode.moreless
  • At least they tried....

    7.2
For the TPIR episode, I think it was okay. The Hole-In-One thing would've done it for Kathy, because had it been her second chance...you know what happened. I liked Paige Davis a whole lot and her Plinko game strategy. It's no wonder everyone in the crowd got free MP3 Players and I was stunned when I saw that clip on The Late Late Show. Everyone saw what the start of Gameshow Marathon was and it was a somewhat disaster from the ground up by the time it was May 31st. Let's Make a Deal came along by Thursday, and by then, it can all change in an instant.moreless
  • So far so good!

    8.0
So far so good episode and it starts off with

The Price is Right but we get Ricki Lake

And not Bob Barker but also we get stars trying to

Reclaim "their fame" of past with game shows. Too bad that

We didn't see game show favorite and fan Betty White playing

Just in the audience with other game show favorites like 90's Hollywood Squares Bruce and George Foreman!

So far off to a great start!moreless

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • The montage clips may have included Bob Barker's version of The Price Is Right and even Bill Cullen's 1950's version, but they didn't include any of the syndicated versions hosted by Dennis James, Tom Kennedy, and Doug Davidson.

    • For the game "Hole in One (or two)" only one of Kathy's putts was shown. Kathy did get 2 putts, but she missed them both. The 2nd putt was edited out to save time.

    • Paige Davis won everyone in the audience a Dell MP3 player.

    • During one part of the montage clips of The Price is Right, they say that they have given away $500 million in the 34 years that they had been on the air, and on the first episode of the 20th year of the show, Creator, Mark Goodson, says that they had given away $100 million in the 19 years they had been on the air back then.

    • Several celebrities, including Betty White, George Foreman, and Kathy Griffin, are in the audience during this episode, but they are only seen briefly and aren't credited for their appearances in this episode. These celebrities are most likely in the audience because of their upcoming roles as panelists in the "Match Game" episode of the show.

    • Kathy Najimy's injured toe/foot is mentioned several times in the episode, but in different ways. At first we hear that she has an injured toe, then we later hear that she has a broken foot, so the exact injury is unknown.

    • In this episode, we find out which charities each celebrity is donating their winning money to. They are as follow:

      Paige Davis - Donate Life
Kathy Najimy - Girl's Best Friend
Tim Meadows - Chris Farley Foundation
Lance Bass - Habitat for Humanity
Brande Roderick - City of Hope
Leslie Nielsen - a society in upper Phoenix for blind children (he doesn't explicity state the society's name)

    • After winning in this episode, Brande Roderick advanced onto "Finalist Row," where the winners from each episode wait to play head-to-head in the Card Sharks and Match Game game shows.

  • QUOTES (6)

  • NOTES (4)

    • The Viewer Giveaway question for tonight's episode was:

What was the price of this Camaro on The Price is Right in 1972?

      1: $3,621
      2: $5,295
      3: $6,750

The correct answer was 1: $3,621.

    • Some of the celebritites are vegetarians, for example: Ricki Lake, Kathy Najimy, Paige Davis, and Brande Roderick. Bob Barker, the host for the real The Price is Right is also a vegetarian.

    • Rich Fields, the announcer for this episode, is also the current announcer for the real The Price is Right.

    • For this episode, the "Plinko" and "Big Wheel" sets were moved from the The Price is Right set, but the other parts of the set are replicas.
