      • Jon: Garfield, how could you? That poor kitty is starving. Garfield: Hey. (Points at himself) This poor kitty is starving!

      • Jon: Isn't it nice for Garfield to go outside and get us firewood for the fire. (Garfield hands him a table leg) Thanks Garf-- Hey this looks familair. GARFIELD! Garfield: (holding an ax. The dining room table is destroyed) Hey you said wood. You didn't say from where.

      • Stray: Hey pal, why you leaving a terrific spread like this. Garfield: Because you're here, and thank you, thank you, thank you- I thought Jon would never get another cat! Stray: Hey, then I guess I can stay forever! Garfield: Yeah, forever. Tomorrow he's making Casserole a la Arbuckle. Stray: So? Garfield: So? Don't you know the main ingredient of Casserole a la Arbuckle? Stray: No. Garfield: Well, it's... nah, never mind. Forget I mentioned it. Goodbye forever! Stray: [Panicks and runs into kitchen] Let's see, where does that guy keep recipes? Ah, here we go. Candied meatballs, cantaloupe chow mein...ah, here it is, Casserole a la Arbuckle. 1 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons flour, carrots, potatoes, 1 kitty cat, add salt to taste... K-k-k-kitty cat?! Jon: Hungry little kitty, we've gotta fatten you up! Stray: Fatten me up?! Jon: I'm looking forward to having you for dinner tonight. The dish I'm making is Odie's favorite! Odie slurps Stray Stray: He's tasting me! Augh!

      • (After the intro): Garfield: "I suppose you wondering why I asked you here today?"

      • Garfield: Who'd be stupid enough to be out on a night like this? [Odie walks up] Garfield: No, not even him.

      • Garfield: That cat is a scheming, conniving, evil phony who deserves to be punished! Jon: [To cat] And tomorrow, I'll make my special Casserole à la Arbuckle for you. Garfield: Ooh, but not that punished.

    • NOTES (4)

      ADD NOTES
      • In season 2, the generic CBS "bumpers" announcing the show going to and returning from commercials are replaced with actual Garfield and Friends bumpers. Unfortunately, from season 3 on, new generic CBS bumpers replace these. (In syndication the Garfield ones appear in all episodes, although they're different than those that aired originally during season 2.)

      • Garfield loud song of choice comes from the album The Marine Corps Band Plays Songs To Make Your Neighbors Move To Another Zip Code.

      • Recipes in Jon's recipe box include Candied Meatballs and Cantaloupe Chow Mein

      • When the 1989-1990 season began, Garfield & Friends was expanded to an hour-long cartoon with six shorts instead of three.
