(After the intro): Garfield: "I suppose you wondering why I asked you here today?"
Garfield: Who'd be stupid enough to be out on a night like this? [Odie walks up] Garfield: No, not even him.
Garfield: That cat is a scheming, conniving, evil phony who deserves to be punished! Jon: [To cat] And tomorrow, I'll make my special Casserole à la Arbuckle for you. Garfield: Ooh, but not that punished.
In season 2, the generic CBS "bumpers" announcing the show going to and returning from commercials are replaced with actual Garfield and Friends bumpers. Unfortunately, from season 3 on, new generic CBS bumpers replace these. (In syndication the Garfield ones appear in all episodes, although they're different than those that aired originally during season 2.)
Garfield loud song of choice comes from the album The Marine Corps Band Plays Songs To Make Your Neighbors Move To Another Zip Code.
Recipes in Jon's recipe box include Candied Meatballs and Cantaloupe Chow Mein
When the 1989-1990 season began, Garfield & Friends was expanded to an hour-long cartoon with six shorts instead of three.
