Not only did Jon and Garfield forget about Herman hanging from the tree trap, they also forgot Odie!
Jon: Garfield, Cousin Norbert left me something in his will! Garfield: Is that edible?
Garfield: This is Garfield your doorman.
Garfield: You're bored, Odie. Wanna do something? Odie: Mm-hmm. Garfield: Okay, I'll give you a choice. Either we can discuss the socioeconomic status of the world--[Cheerfully]--or, I'll throw a ball, and you fetch it! (Odie runs off and scampers back with a ball) Garfield: Always a sucker for the intellectual stuff.
When the man who wants the Klopman Diamond wants it back, Garfield answers the door with "This is Garfield your doorman." This is a referrence to Lorenzo Music's (Garfield) role on "Rhoda," where he played the unseen Calrton the doorman.
