  • Everything is twisted around when Puck teaches Alex the spell of soul transference. Not only is Goliath's clan involved, so is Coldstone & his 3 different personalities. Who is who? You'll have to figure that out on your own.moreless

One of the BEST Garoyles episodes. This is why I watch the show. I've always liked episodes with Coldstone and Puck in them, and putting them both in this one was a wise choice. I love the confusion and the "subterfuge". And to think it was all a lesson for little Alex. All I can say is that you MUST see this episode. I don't want to say too much about it, because that would ruin the surprise of who is in who's body. Don't pass this one up.moreless
  • Interesting turning point for the Coldtrio. (Spoilers) It will be nice to see the preceeding story in Gargoyles #6.

Didn't expect to see an immediate follow up on Puck teaching Alexander the use of his powers. It was also fun to see the return of Coldstone and crew. Coldstone's appearance in the Himalayas will be explained in #6 of the Gargoyles comic series.

What helped to make the soul transfer interesting was the choice to keep Broadway, Angela and Brooklyn's voice the same. That decision payed off even more since Brooklyn's behavior was puzzling.

As far as the forshadowing goes, I'm embarassed to admit I didn't see the pairing between Broadway and Angela coming. I thought she would end up with Brooklyn.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Broadway and Angela (under the influence of Coldstone and Coldfire) kiss for the first time, which begins their future relationship.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Coldsteel: (after being transferred into his new body) The raw energy! The unbridled power! I am Coldsteel!

    • Brooklyn: And this scrawny Gargoyle'll be waiting!
Angela: Brooklyn! You remember what he called you?
Brooklyn: I know every creepy thing he made me do. I couldn't stop him, I'm sorry.

    • Goliath (to Puck): But why did you work your magic through Lexington?
Puck: Mois? I haven't done a spell all night! It was all thanks to my prized pupil! Passing his first lesson with flying colors!
(Lex opens his mouth and a stream of light comes pouring out, bringing Alex into Puck's arms)
Lexington: Well, he had a little help...
Puck: He had a brilliant teacher!

    • Goliath and also Alex/Lex: For the spirit to be willing, the flesh must first grow weak. Just long enough for soul in flight to pass from cheek to cheek.

    • Goliath: Why the subterfuge?
Puck: Hey, I live for subterfuge!

    • Puck: My boy, welcome to Soul Transference 101.

    • Coldstone's head: Wait! You're not going to leave me like this?
Xanatos: We'll get back to you, Coldstone. Meantime, chin up.

  • NOTES (2)

    • Though Coldstone's previous onscreen appearance was in "High Noon", an additional story written by Greg was planned for Marvel Comics Gargoyles series. The story was set during The Avalon World Tour arc (Inbetween "Cloud Father" and "Ill Met By Moonlight"). The story has Goliath and crew sent to the Himalayas by Avalon where they run into Coldstone (hence his appearance at the beginning of the episode. Also, this explains why Angela seemed familiar with Coldstone as they never met onscreen prior to the episode.

    • Elisa doesn't appear in this episode.
