Gash

Show Summary

Gash is a British topical political comedy show from Talkback, an independent production company. It was broadcast on Channel 4, a British public-service television station, over four nights, from April 28th, 2003 to May 1st, 2003, in order to coincide with the 2003 UK local government elections. Each episode was written and filmed in front of a live studio audience on the evening of transmission and included modified VT footage, sketches, jokes, talks and satirical debates, which attempted to cover the day's events in 24 minutes. The show's main host was Armando Iannucchi, but he was joined by co-hosts Nick Wilty and Dominic Holland, and Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament Mark Oaten, Jon Holmes and Olivia Colman all made guest appearances. Some of the topics covered in the show included the Iraq War, Daniella Westbrook and the Falklands War. The show was named after TV insiders' slang for bits of discarded cut up video tape.
