  • The most self assured episode yet, unfortunately not the most funny

    7.5
This show is really good and laughout loud funny when it wants to be but can also deliver on the drama front as well as it does with this episode. The characters are what make it though with their own little quirks. Nessa's saying 'what's occurring?' might just pass into the English language and settle like Paul Whitehouse's 'Which was Nice'.

This episode has Gavin and Stacey separated as she misses her hometown Barry and doesn't want to live in Essex anymore. They both miss each other but don't want to talk about it prompting Pam (Gavin's Mam) to have Mick (dad) call Stacey's Mam Gwen just for a bit of Gossip. Just like her not to do her own dirty work. We also have a scene with Smithy (Gavin's Best Friend) annoying a waitress in a pub when he wants Gavin's chips, lets just say it's great to watch but hard to explain here. The best character is still Stacey's Uncle Bryn and we finally have him properly talking to his Gay Nephew Jason concerning the fishing trip. Previously they've just avoided each other but when somebody else knows (Nessa's new boyfriend Dave) it's a crisis isn't it. Lets just say as Bryn's favourite movie is Brokeback Mountain it gives you a bit of a clue to what might have gone on.

Other Highlight's amongst the Drama of Gavin and Stacey missing each other were Big Fat Sue and Japanese Margaret, Bryn and his enthusiasm for Youtube and the Nessa and John Prescott story.

Last episode in series 2 next week, hopefully the drama won't outdo the comedy - it's still a good show either way though.moreless
