Can someone please explain to me (or provide a link to the explanation) WTFthe lie-detector test was for?The answerat that time: it was to see if Gene was cheating on Shannon (this was a few season's ago).

So here's where they lost me, what is thier actual definition of cheating? Because now, Shannon says he's been unfaithful all along, the marriage wont be "open" like their relationship has been, etc.

None of it makes sense.

Was he cheating? What's their definition of cheating? Did she know all along? Was the lie detector radio show a bunch of crapola?

Remember that a lie detector only measures pulse and biometrics and not really truth or lies. A nervous person can come up lying even when he or she is telling the truth and a truthful person can come up lying if they are nervous. The thing with lie detectors is that if you believe what you are saying is true, then it will come up true. So if they did have an open relationship then what he had been doing may not have been cheating to him. So when asked the question and he said no, it would come up as true. Of course, Shannon's definition may not have been the same or has changed in the intervening years. She has said that she put up with it in the past but that her outlook has changed.
