Shannon schedules the family interviews with the adoption agency. While she fears that Nick, who has been verbally non-supportive of her desire to adopt, will ruin her plans, she is hit the hardest when Sophie does not show up for the interview at all.
Shannon is concerned that Gene is having second thoughts about adopting a child, thoughts which are only supported by Nick, who is against the idea.
Nick questions his future. Meanwhile, Shannon and Gene contemplate their own futures and return to the subject of possibly adopting and adding to the Simmons family.
