Gene decides to take Sophie to San Diego's Camp Pendleton to help her do some research for a school paper she has to write on the armed forces. After a lot of smack talking back and forth, they are thrown into a few brutal basic training exercises. No one is laughing now.moreless
  • Gene Simmons, American. What a touching tribute to true heroes.

My relatives are all gone now. My dad was a Marine in WWII. My Uncle was in the Navy. Another Uncle was in the Navy also. I watched in awe how Gene and his daughter and his band honored those who are truly heroes. Those who put their lives on the line daily. Those whose job it is to keep us in the USA safe every day of the year. He honored those who served and are not here, those who serve and are here, and those who still serve today. Thanks for being our voice, Gene.

After seeing this episode for the second time, I went outside tonight after dark, to see the stars. With tears in my eyes and pride in my heart, I thanked my dad, my uncles, and everyone that has served in the service of our country that isn't here today. Thank you. And thank you, Gene, for reminding us of those that are gone and those that still serve.moreless
  • Daddy & Sophie. . . Sophie the Marine.

I love watching Gene in his role at dad. He's actually pretty good at. I think bottom line is, spending time with Sophy but I don't think boot camp is what most people have in mind. Sophy is not a wimp. But neither is Gene. But I love Sophy willing to do hands on homework. You can see and hear the pride in Gene face and voice. I think Gene needs to start working with a personal trainer and get in shape cause his teenage daughter really made him look bad. But I think he has a newfound respect for his daughter. But they also got a sip of what our military does for us and are willing to give back. Good for them.moreless
  • Proud to be an American.

I found this episode to be entertaining. The best part for me was seeing Gene get screamed at by the bootcamp soldier and keeping his cool the entire time. I think Gene should have jumped into the water like Sophie did. Sophie did really well. She is a brave young lady. I hope she doesn't decide to join though. I wonder how she will do on her paper. I think they should have taken Nick with them. I'm glad they finally showed Nick's girlfriend. It seems that Nick might have a health condition because he doesn't really do much on the show. He has very good character for a teenager. It still seems as though they don't have enough material to keep the show running. The family can be a bit boring at times. I'm glad they visited the soldiers in the hospital. I can't believe Gene cried. The concert at the end was a great idea to help motivate our soldiers and our country.moreless
