The FBI assigns Jagger to investigate an organ-selling ring at GH; cancer-patient Robert has a most difficult time; relationship troubles plague Leo and Saira and Toussaint and Epiphany.
  • The episode was kind of hit-and-miss, with both good and bad plots. Robert's on-going cancer dilemma and Robin's reactions were gold. The "pay it forward" organ donation story, the end result and Jagger's investigation all fell flat, as did Leo & Saira.moreless

NS Season 2 has been hit or miss all season. This ep certainly fell in line with that theme. Robert's multi-episode storyline regaring his cancer battle, featured here again, was right on the mark. It sparked emotion and heart, especially for long-time GH viewers, who are now seeing the once great Robert Scorpio reduced to a broken-down old man while his daughter Robin has finally realized that, as a doctor, there really wasn't much she could do except love him. However, not all plots were able to resonate as much as Robert's storyline. Ryan's organ-donation story was intriguing at first, but then took a left turn. His death, while unexpected, just didn't hit home. Maybe because we barely got to know him or maybe because it just seemed so out of the blue. Medically, there was nothing wrong with him when he was wheeled into surgery, all health and happiness. So when Patrick and Epiphany saw Claire in the hall, it was like WTF!? Did they just throw that in for the heck of it? His death didn't have the emotional punch of Stacey Sloan's death last season. Maybe because we got to know Stacey a little bit and were invested in her character. Ryan, while cute enough, didn't really leave a lasting impact.

As for Jagger, again he was totally misused. I thought there would finally be some drama where we finally got to see him in action as an FBI agent, but that fell flat pretty quickly when he was reduced to following Patrick around the hospital.

As for the relationship drama, I just don't see sparks between Toussaint and Epiphany, so its hard to invest in their relationship, if that's what it's called. As for Saira and Leo's "whatever," I never thought those two fit, so it didn't surprise me that Leo and Claire ended up together. I think Saira made the wrong choice and would like to see what would have happened with Jagger. But with only a handful of eps left, I don't see that happening.

All in all, it was a good episode, just not great.moreless

    • Robin: (to Robert) Really, I think you need to get out of here. I think you need to get away from these machines. You need a home. And you've rescued me plenty of times, and here I am... all grown up, a doctor even. But even with... even with all the research in the world I... I might not be able to cure you, but I can love you.

    • Robin: I can't even help him. I mean, I just... I freeze up, like I... I can't believe it's happening. I mean, he's my dad. And I have no idea how to help him. Toussaint: Listen, don't think that an orderly is trying to give you medical advice, but take this from a guy that has at least one or two things in common with your old man. He needs his dignity now. We're pretty good at fixing people up, but sometimes a man needs more than just fancy drugs or crazy treatments. He doesn't need a doctor right now. He needs... a daughter.

    • Jagger: You smell that? Patrick: What? Jagger: It smells like flowers or something. Patrick: I don't know, maybe it's the... probably just the... Jagger: No, I think it's your cologne. Patrick: Well, I'm not... I'm not wearing cologne. Jagger: Yes, you are. Patrick: Okay, fine. Maybe I'm wearing cologne, but it doesn't smell like flowers. Jagger: It smells like jasmine or something. Patrick: Okay, you know what, Jagger? This whole following thing around business here, that doesn't include smelling me. Jagger: Hey, hey. That's fine. I kinda like it, not bad. Patrick: Okay, thanks.

    • Robin: Well, if it isn't my two favorite men. (to Jagger) What are you doing here all dressed up? Jagger: I had some business I needed to look into. Patrick: Yeah, your friend here is going to be monitoring me. Robin: What? Patrick: Isn't that fun? Jagger: The FBI monitors hospitals all over the country to investigate organ trafficking. Patrick: It's kind of like, "Bring Your FBI Agent to Work Day."

    • Kyle: (to Claire) Where did you get pie at this hour? Claire: (to Ryan) I have to present to the GH Organ's Watch meeting. Ryan: What? When? Claire: This week. I have to explain the organ donor standards to the entire staff. Kyle: (to Claire) No, I'm serious. Did you get this from home? Ryan: That could be fun. Educating your peers. Claire: (to Ryan) No, I hate public speaking. (to Kyle) I stole it from the cafeteria. Kyle: Oh, great. The FBI is still in the building, you know? Ryan: Ooh, maybe you could do a cheer instead, Simpson, like in high school? Maybe an organ donor pep rally? Kyle: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have some pom-poms she could borrow.

    • Claire: Maybe that guy will name the music program after you. Ryan: Yeah. It would be better if the couple named their housing project after me. I'd like my name on a building. Claire: To match the size of your ego? Ryan: To match the size of my something.

    • Kyle: Okay, here he comes. Claire: Okay, I don't know if I can do this. Kyle: Yes, you can. Just think, "What Would Oprah Do?"

    • Toussaint: Chemo's rough. Anything you want to know, just ask. Robert: Can you cure old? 'Cause I don't like it.

    • Robert: Liars. Doctors, they lie. Toussaint: Hold on, now. You're talking about my new field. Robert: You should have stayed a rock star.

    • The two FBI agents with no speaking lines were played by Scott Healy and Clay N. Woods. They were not listed in the credits.

    • The two songs playing in this episode were by uncredited female vocalists. The first song's (which played towards the end in the scenes with Claire) lyrics were: Such an ordinary day, but something's different in the way my stomach's feeling. I pick up the phone, you know I'd never be the same. You're gone, I still can't believe you're gone, I'm still holding on to memories, the times we spent, and all the secrets that we kept, now meaningless. Tell me where to go, you know I'd follow you down. You're gone, I still can't believe you're gone, you're gone, I still can't believe you're gone. I'm still holding on, I'm still holding on. Oh I'm still holding on. A simple life, why must it be that everything we see we're surely gonna leave, and if there's a song to sing, please sing it now and carry us. Oh please carry us. I can't believe you're gone, well, I'm still holding on.
