    9.0
Second episode comes around and questions remain unanswered. A handful of new characters are introduced, and by introduced I mean shown. Why would they introduce the characters when they can have the viewer sit and struggle to figure out why they've just met the villain of the series?

The action was far less ominous in this episode compared to the first, but we get our first clearer glimpses of what it takes for Gawl to become the awesome fighting machine he is. A few hints are dropped that Gawl is not completely a natural human being.

Overall, the episode gets a 9/10: once more the animation is stellar, the newer characters intriguing, but the plotline slows.moreless

    • Masami: (to Natsume) How many times do I have to tell ya; hold out for an Internet nerd; they run the world and they're loaded.

    • Masami's Mom: Masami, it is our humanitarian duty to help these young men with food and shelter, and if that's not enough reason, think of the cash.

    • Gawl: I'd rather sleep in a park full of Generators.
Koji: (covering Gawl's mouth) Power generators. He's got a phobia.

  • NOTES (2)

    • The enemy generator in this episode is Generator Manta, whose back is shaped like a manta ray.

    • Character intros:
Prof. Ryuko Saito is the assistant professor of Takuma. The boys don't know her true intentions although she lets the audience know.

Natsume Chigira is Masami's best friend.

Prof. Takuma Nekasa is a biology research professor who hardly leaves his lab. His face and name are revealed at the end of the episode.

    • Product Replacement
At the video game arcade, there's a poster of Tokkan 3, which is a spoof of the fighting game series that includes Tekken 3.
