The Visitors
AIRED:
After arriving in the past and defeating a Generator that followed them, Koji, Ryo, and Gawl go in search of information. Gawl runs off in search of food as Koji and Ryo hack into the city's system and find the lab where the thing that they have come to stop, starts. Gawl runs into trouble when he is caught staring into a fast food restaraunt by Masami and is arrested when she accuses him of being the "fast food stalker." Koji and Ryo clear his name by making up a story about their orphanage burning down. They are given new IDs and find a place to stay, which to Gawl's disgust, is also the home of Masami.moreless

  • Just another mecha anime?

Nope, not at all. While most series that would be classified as 'mecha' contain giant robots with emotions, Generator Gawl is more of a human with the abilities of the giant robots. It gives more of a human twist to what is expected, appealing to more viewers than those looking for the next Gundam.

The episode itself was rather confusing, even annoying at times. I watched both the dub and the sub, and while the translation was a bit off, the lines added or altered gave the show a bit more of a comedy vibe. As I don't think that was the original intent of the series, I don't agree with this change.

Overall, I'd give it a 9/10: the animation was really good, the storyline was somewhat intriguing, and the characters were just above average.moreless

    • The good guys go back in time to prevent some science folks from finishing the research that will result in the creation of Generators. Similarly, in Terminator 2, Arnold's character is sent back in time to destroy a chip that would result in the prototype Terminator. Other than that, there aren't many other similaries.
