  • The show "Generator Rex" makes a strong second step forward in this hit series

    9.0
The episode basically starts off when Rex is debriefed on an Evo infestation taking place in new york. The infestation is caused by this strange Evo with a giant brain with a mouth for a head. Basically what the Evo does is it can take control of the nanites inside a person's body weither they're malfunctioning or not. Afterwards the person is completely under the Evo's control. At first, it's easy for Rex to get close enough to the Evo so he can use his curing ability, but there's a twist.... Rex can't cure it. This leads to a problem wih Providence. Mr. White (the boss of Providance) wants to nuke the entire section of the city so he can kill the Evo and all of the infected people before they reach the other parts of the city... but Rex isn't about to let that happen. Rex has a feeling that the Evo wants to be cured... but something is keeping it from letting Rex cure it. They soon learn that the Evo is the father of a daughter being held in Providence captivity. So after a little conversation.. Rex cures the Evo and stops the bomb about to blow up new york... happy ending.moreless
  • Generator Rex follows up last week's strong premiere with a strong second episode.

First of all, let me get this out of the way because it's bugging me, the cheesy Looney Tunes sound effects has got to go, I went easy on them last week, I thought it was a one time offense type of thing, no such luck, they're back. Have I deducted points for it? Not really, I decided to look the other way and pretend I didn't hear them, because they only appear in the very beginning, I've seen most of it before, it was released as a sneak preview from CN, thing is, that clip didn't have those sound effects, which means they were added later. Why? I have absolutely no idea, could be to take some of the impact away from the blows. But the rest of the episode doesn't have this annoyance.

Okay, over to the episode itself, I wasn't really that hyped for it from the commercials, I thought the design on the zombies was pretty uninteresting, looked like some sort of plant people, the main guy with the enormous head and his body dangling under it was cool though, reminded me of Fang from Teen Titans. Regardless, the action in the street was phenomenal, Agent Six is awesome, and some of the music was pretty cool and not just generic background noise. The whole "cleanse the city" was a nice touch of darkness, and surprisingly enough created some tension, they have the PG rating and they killed a bunch of people in the premiere, so maybe...no, they didn't. But they had me going there for a while. The revelation at the end with Agent Six and the bomb was nice, so was the rescuing of the little girl.

This is a very entertaining episode from a series that's already shaping up quite nicely, next week, It's Circe's introduction, I believe, that's going to be interesting.moreless

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Rex: A person is a person no matter how screwed up they are.

    • Agent Six: You need to listen.
Rex: (transforms his feet into giant boots) When you have super boots, you can give the orders. (goes to attack the EVO) That's one small step for me, one giant pounding for ugly EVO guy! Incoming! (EVO easily destroys Rex's boots, knocking Rex to the ground and landing in front of Six) Okay, what did you have in mind?

    • Rex: "Cleanse" the area? Knight's losing it. This is New York City. You don't just cleanse New York City, right?
Agent Six: Do your job and you won't have to worry.
Rex: Cure, contain or kill... at least you keep it simple.

    • Rex: There's more to my job with Providence than smashing heads, Noah. I mean, that kid today was so... scared. To him, I wasn't fighting some EVO'ed-out monster. I was hurting someone he cared about. I was the bad guy! What am I supposed to do with that?
Noah: You tried talking to Six about that?
Rex: Six? He doesn't do "talk."

    • Agent Six: What you're about to see is disturbing.
      Rex: Disturbing? Cool!

    • Rex: No way. Is that a zombie?
Dr. Holiday: He's not a zombie. This poor soul is very much alive, conscious of his actions, but unable to control them.
Bobo Haha: Like Bobo in Vegas. Ka-ching!

    • Rex: They sure look like zombies. Check it out. They even have that fresh-from-the-brain-buffet, living-dead walk.
Bobo Haha: Feel sorry for whoever they were.
(the infected people start walking towards them)
Rex: And you're positive they don't want to eat us?

    • Bobo Haha: (to Rex) Hey, watch it with the sewer water! The vest is dry-clean only!

    • Rex: Hey, buddy. Sorry about kicking your butt today.
Bobo Haha: That's all right. I spit in your oatmeal last week.
