  • Seriously funny! A true to life view of a typical general nursing ward. A great take on public health care in the tradition set by Yes Minister's protrayal of government.

One of the funniest hospital shows I have yet to see. Funny because of its accuracy, and skill of its actors. Great script writing and wonderful props give a sense of reality that would be hard to beat. My whole family loved the programs. Two members are nurses, and found the situations portrayed hilarious. More hospital comedy is really needed, as medical dramas are getting very stale - as stale in fact as Dr Moore's special 'plop-plop' samples! You would have to admit that many hospital stories treasured up by nurses are side-splittingly funny. Please could there be more of this show?moreless

Only the most senior within the Health Service will not find the funny side of this dead-pan comedy from former psychriatric nurse Jo Brand.
When I first tuned into this show last week I wached as Nurse Kim Wilde (Jo Brand) and Sister Den Flixter (Joanna Scanlan) did last offices with a recently departed patient, something that is done too often on wards such as the one in this show. Brand was sat on a chair as Scanlan put the patients propety in the bags, ready for the patients sister to collect, it struck a chord with me and I knew I was in for something special.
I never got the office, and it was probably because, since I have never worked in an office I didn't see that I could relate to someone who was like many of those who were in the show, however in this show I can see people I know in the 4 leads, Joanna Scanlan, Jo Brand, Vicki Pepperdine and Ricky Grover even myself to a small extent. My only gripe is that along with a Sister, Staff Nurse and Matron there should be a Clinical Support worker. But hay, I am a CSW, so I would want my role placed up here.
Fantastic stories and fantastic cast. I, for one, will keep watching. This will be The Office for the NHS.moreless
