Ghost adventures returns to the Goldfield Hotel. The place where they captured the famous flying brick. They were not allowed to the Goldfield Hotel. So they were planning on investigating the Nixon Building and the Santa Fe Saloon. Luckily, they find the owner of the Goldfield Hotel and get permission to investigate it one more time. The EVPs were good and clear. But the "Elizabeth" one was just noise. As for the 'they're back, what do you want" The mist they captured was great. The EVP "you're f*@@(@ in my house" is the only Ghost Adventures EVP that gives me chills. 9/10moreless

The EVP "you're f*@@(@ in my house" is the only Ghost Adventures EVP that gives me chills.

As usual, for the sake of simplicity, I will simply make the following disclaimer: if I don't discuss a specific EVP, one can make the assumption that I think it was just background noise and nothing remotely paranormal. (And seriously, if they want to get EVPs that can be taken seriously, they need to put the recorders down and eliminate their own movements and noise! I guarantee, they wouldn't get a quarter of the "EVPs" they keep claiming they get!)

I never saw the original "Ghost Adventures" documentary, so I'm sure that there's a layer to this episode that I'm just not going to experience. I also find the Constantinos to be less than credible, since they are just as haphazard with their recorders as the GAC crew. (Never mind that they consider the "spirit box" credible, which speaks volumes. No pun intended.) I find it very interesting that the EVP they are so famous for is at the same volume as their own voices, something evident even in the waveform.

One amusing thing about that old footage is how normal the team looks. Zak, in particular, is a lot less muscle-bound. His proportions look decidedly less chemically enhanced. I also don't believe for a second that the encounter with Red was spontaneous. That felt entirely staged from beginning to end. Oh, and there's another reference to GAC bringing civilians into an apparently dangerous location, exposing them to harm for profit.

We also get another potential example of how the team allows their pre-conceived notions to fuel their assumptions. Never mind that Nick completely betrays the trust of the old woman with the keys to the hotel. But both he and Zak come to the conclusion that the "other side" set up the circumstances for this latest lockdown in the Goldfield, which is just plain silly. Either that part was staged as well (my personal opinion), or they have completely lost all semblance of objectivity.

I will admit that the sounds of the rock being thrown and the footsteps were clearly audible. Having run into examples of such phenomena myself, I can't discount those incidents. The subsequent EVP, however, was the usual wishful thinking. In fact, all the EVPs are nothing but noise.

This brings up an interesting point. So many of these so-called "EVP specialists" are just really, really creative in their interpretation of background noise. It's not that they are conducting some kind of ingenious analysis; they are just repeating the recordings over and over until they find something that verifies their assumptions. This is the exact opposite of the kind of verification process that the "paranormal field" needs.

I've mentioned before that the PX is a complete fraud. Any device that contains a pre-determined vocabulary of words, triggered by an undisclosed environmental "energy", can hardly be taken seriously, regardless of the "malfunctions" taking place. I've already explained many times how easy it is to put together words in English from phonetics. Even with the mild activity that they may have captured, I don't trust that the equipment wasn't manipulated to seem "out of control".moreless
