Melinda is helping Prof. Payne find out if he is the father of a young boy who is the son of one of his old girlfriends. When Melinda helps Kate talk to Payne about how much they wanted kids. She tells Jim that she wants to have a baby.
I loved this episode. One reason I loved this episode was because you got to see the other side of Payne. The side that is more serious. The oher reason I loved this episode was the Melinda and Jim parts. I thought it was sad that they fought and she walked away mad, but then later on in the episode when she told him she wanted to have kids, that was such a sweet Melinda and Jim moment. If you think about it Payne and Kate where in the same situation as Melinda and Jim. Payne did not want kids at the time but Kate did. She wanted kids so bad but Payne wasent ready and when Kate was. That was like Melinda and Jim. Jim wants a baby so bad, up untill this episode Melinda kept saying she wasent ready. Over all I really love this episode.
I always look forward to the last 3eps of the season, and "Deadbeat Dads" surely did not disappoint. Who would have thought in GW's 3yrs, such a heavily driven minor character ep would actually provide some needed umph to move along the arc of the season.
Payne, before this ep I found Payne ignorant for not forgetting his wife in "The Collector," after discovering she had cheated due to the lack of interest he showed for her. However, tonight I somewhat have a new found respect for him. What did it, was his heartfelt speech of his own selfishness of wanting his wife all to himself with no interruption from babies. I have watched plenty of TV programs, and I have never seen a man admit to his own selfishness in such a profound way.
Kate, deserved closure from the get go, she made a mistake but it was not without a cause. I thought tonight, she left in the only way she could, allowing Payne to move on but never letting him forget their past. Kate Payne, is a character I will deeply miss and Rachel Shelley did a "magnificent job" as Kate would say, in portraying such a complexed character.
Nina and Elliot, what a surprise they were, I was sure Payne would have felt a slap in the face. After, discovering the girl he dumped for his wife had given birth, especially the harsh time he had in forgiving Kate and her affair. However, as I stated earlier, all is forgiven and the plot ended on a note that could come in handy if and only if Jay Mohr decides to depart from GW to pursue a comedy project.
Now, Payne aside, Mel's baby issues was once an for all mended. Having Kate show Mel that life is dispensable and that one can never tell when death and his minions will prevail. Though this was a good progression for Mel and Jim's relationship, it was not the reason I was looking forward to the ep. My personal reason was for the mystery of Tom Gordon. However, it was never answered the tidbits dropped were exciting. Guess we will just have to sit tight, wait patiently, and tune in next week for everything to begin to come together. Hopefully, the significance of those numbers led to something big either to Mel's past or even eventual future.
At the beginning I thought that this will not be such a great episode but I was very wrong. Before watching this episode I knew that Payne's wife will reappear but I didn't expect that Melinda will cross her over. I really love the way that things turned out for Payne and his wife. I think that only Andrea's crossing-over was more beautiful than this. Also Melinda finally told Jim that she wants a baby. It will be interesting to see a baby in their house every now and then. Of course that will only happen in 4 season (I hope there will be one). The ending was as always strange. I wonder what those numbers are...
Poor Profesor Payne, he really wanted the kid to be his son, but in the end all was a trick from Nina (that woman with big big lips xD).
I only dislike one thing, last time Kate appeared was a bad spirit, she was with the bad ghosts, and in this episode she doesnt tell anything about it, I really liked she crossed over but she could have done more..
Melinda wants to have a baby. It seems like Ghost Whisperer will end in 1 or 2 more seasons..
And the end with these misterious numbers... I cant wait to watch the next episode. This season is getting better and better!
I liked this because it enters Rick's life. I only knew about him being married, his wife dying three years ago, he being a teacher and some of his trips.
Now we find out his past life, loves and all. The kid looks a lot like him but we all know the truth.
That discussion with Kate and Rick when he gets home is fun. The whole provoke the ghost and Kate answering in her own special ghost way.
This must be frustrating for Kate, she wanted kids and now Rick has one. This takes a new view about kids in the episode. Jim wants kids but Melinda doesn't, this create a lot of difficult situations. I admit I was a bit worried. He has to put up with a lot, all the ghosts, the hauntings... He loves her but it can be very hard for him.
When Melinda is talking to Kate and Rick, she realizes that Kate is describing her relationship with Jim. Kate feels what Jim feels and Melinda finally gets it.
Well, I must say that this episode was not what I expected when I first turned it on. Nearing the end of the season, I was ready for an episode that prepared us for the season finale. However, I was pleased with the outcome even though that wasn't what this episode was about. Since the beginning of the show, I've always wondered why Melinda didn't want children. I mean, the girl has been saying "At least not right now" at the end of every one of these conversations since season 1. I was left wondering when this girl would ever want to have kids, if ever. Finally, we saw that missing piece of information. Even if we all knew why she didn't want kids, she never said it, until now. It was apparent in this episode that Jim was getting fed up with that line too. I think that I should give Melinda the benefit of the doubt in this situation though. Jim has known for years that she wasn't ready and truthfully I think he really started acting like a jerk to her in this episode. It made me a little bit annoyed with Jim's character. I like Jim, alot, but his whole attitude in this episode was a little bit uncalled for and childish. I really didn't understand why he suddenly became so hard about this topic. If I were Melinda, I think I would have given in too at the end of a few days with Mr. Grumpypants. I know that we are all supposed to believe that the day's events are what changed her mind, but come on. If I were her I would be afraid that he would get so sick of hearing no that he might leave and he showed in this episode that he was getting to that point. Whatever it was, we all (Jim and the audience) got what we wanted at the end. Melinda seemed genuine about her reasoning but from that point on I have looked at Jim differently. Oh and I am very happy that Rick finally had some closure with Kate. My favorite part of the episode was the chat on the steps between Rick and Melinda. It had to be their best seen in a long time.
This was another sensational episode of Ghost Whisperer. The storyline was one that heavily involved Professor Payne, and the storyline was intensely interesting.
There were many unexpected twists and turns throughout the episode, and it was great to finally get a continuation into the life of Payne. I really enjoyed seeing Payne with the kid, but it was dsad when he figuered out that it wasn't his!
Overall, this was an amazing episode. There were some abosolutely great moments, and I really loved the whole thing. It was quite a sweet ending as well, as Melinda finally got to help out Rick Payne with his ghost troubles!
I'd highly recommend this amazing episode! Keep it up, Ghost Whisperer! I can't wait for more!
