  • One of the best episodes of the bunch, i love the very spooky and chilly feel to this episode. When i read the summary of the episode i was looking forward to it cos I love the idea about Bloody Mary so when I watched the episode I wasn't disappointed

The 46th episode of the series is really a special episode because in my opinion I love the dark side and fear it showed us. I love horror movies myself and the suspence the episode portrayed was intense and I love the mystery and the finding out that the ghost isn't really Bloody Mary but someone else looking for vengeance who believes they are Bloody Mary. Looking back at how Bloody Mary died was interesting and enthralling and it was quite sick to see all of that blood all over her and the idea of being buried alive is quite gruesome. Definetly worth seeing.
  • If you like scary, this is the one to watch.

Wow, this was definitely one of the creepiest epsiodes yet in this series. I am not a huge fan of scary movies, but I usually can handle Ghost Whisperer's fright sequences. This one had my heart rate speeding up and my eyes being covered. I must say that thus far I've looked at Ghost Whisperer as a sort of comofrt show, always going through the same similar motions making me cry and laugh and sometimes giving me a little scare. This episode was definitely out of the ordinary for the series. I personally prefer the softer fright sequences over this, but it was an excellent episode nonetheless. The special effects were really cool in some parts (take for instance a bloody hand coming out of a mirror towards Melinda). The special effects in this season as a whole seem to be getting better as the shown goes from season to season. Overall, I feel like this is a very dark season so far, but I think it was time to go for a little change in the show. It's been pretty much the same for the past two seasons: ghost bugs Melinda, Melinda searches for a reason why, Melinda finds the reason using her numerous resources, Melinda tells loved ones who at first think she is psycho but soon realize that she is telling the truth, ghost crosses over. So, that being said, I'm glad to see that an effort is being made to keep us all interested.
  • A good stand alone episode that continues a two show streak. More spooky episodes, instead of adventure episodes!

Be honest, now. How many people went into the bathroom and did the Bloody Mary mantra after watching this episode?

It was a fun spooky episode. I won't claim it was art, and it didn't really further the series narrative (although, we saw more of the public records ghost, and he was almost civil in a confrontational way...). Melinda was definitely a skeptic in this episode. I liked that. I'm not exactly sure why, it'll come to me...I'm sure.

Episodes like this are most of why I watch this show. I'm not looking for ghost hunters...I'm looking for a good chill down my spine.
  • One of the scariest episode!

This episode was one of the scariest Ghost Whisperer episodes ever. This was a really good storyline. This was proubly the only episode were I literlly had a blanket and a pillow beside me in case I get scared which is very unusual for me because Ghost Whisperer episodes don't scare me to much but this one scared me! I think this season is going to have more episodes like this. I really like this episodes and I hope they have more really scary ones but not all the time though. Oh and I almost forgot they didn't have much Mel and Jim moments and I wish they had more.

I love watching this episode.... especially when it involves spookiness.... history from the past... It is always good and scary when it involves woman being a vengeance ghost. I love the final bit of the series, where the bells rings, and suddenly you can see the 'original' loody Mary appears Hmmmm... I wonder when are they going to air that episode?

Melinda is really brave when she wants to confront 'Mary' by standing in front of the mirror. But thinking to myself, come on, she is surrounded by directors, people etc. There is no way that she can be scared easily..
  • One of the scariest episodes of the series! This episode heads on an urban myth- Bloody Mary which is scary. She's a teenager who was buried alive. And she will come through a mirror to anybody who dares to wake her up...

Melinda saw ghost since she was a little girl. That's why she is not freaking out seeing ghosts even when they change to demons. But a normal person like us, it is not easy to stand in front of a ghost. Practically, I heard alot ghosts stories in reality from many people that I trust they tell the truth, my close friends, my sister, even my mom. What are the same points I have from their stories? That is they couldn't see the ghost's faces, their faces are so blurred. Why was that? This film really reminds me from what I heard. I try to find the answer and they tell me, that because we don't know exactly who are those ghosts, so we couldn't see their faces. Someone says, dead people are afraid of being forgot. They don't want the-people-knew-them forget them. And that answers that, really weird... Back to the episode, Don't-try-this-at-home has no moving scenes, but that makes it special from the others. I'm sure it's worth to watch.

There is nothing like a urban myth to be explored to scare you to pieces! I enjoyed this show so much. The Bloody Mary myth drew on things like the graveyard shift - a string attached to the wrist of the deceased that if the deceased wasn't dead and moved the string would ring a bell topside of the grave. This is what happened to Mary except no one heard the bell ringing and when dug up the coffin was full of bloody scratches. Some college kids tried the myth by turning in front of a mirror and calling on Bloody Mary but it's goes awry when the the kid doing it dies! It was awesome! Melinda gets to the bottom of it by realizing it was another kid who scared the the first kid to death and she crosses the the kid but it was full of suspense until!

I would expect some growth this season out of Ghost Whisperer but it seems to be bending on it's knee to teens. The highlight of this show was the fact that Professor Payne was utilized and I enjoy watching him on the screen. He seems to bring a light, airy, funny part to it. The cinch of the urban legend is if you turn around 3 times in a mirror and call for Bloody Mary she will appear. Melinda gets to the bottom of this pretty quickly and helps her ghost and the students involved cope with their beliefs. The very ending scene was a sight to behold though!
  • Bloody Mary...Bloody Mary...

When a group of college girls are being literally paralyzed by fear, rumors run wild that they are being haunted by Grandviews very own Bloody Mary.

This was truly a very creepy episode of Ghost Whisperer! Every scene with "Bloody Mary" was extremely haunting (no pun intended!). The storyline was very enjoyable to watch and the mystery was interesting to watch unfold! It was as scary as the Supernatural episode all about Bloody Mary, and that was a scary episode!

Payne was very funny in this episode, as he is in most! His presence in the episode was a blessing, giving an otherwise freaky episode some light comedy.

Just when you think everything is all nicely tied up, we are left with a chilling ending!

    A quality hour of television.

This was a highly freaky, yet highly enjoyable episode of Ghost Whisperer. I thought the storyline was incredible and absolutely flawless. Definitely loved every minute of it, and I love the way that they ended off the episode.

I was quite surprised at how freaky this one got. I was quite nervous, and thankfull, they turned it into a great episode, which was actulally more enjoyable thatn I had expected and imagined.

I would highly recommend this one. It was really flawless, and I was quite happy with it, the whole way, right through! Great ending, and its a great cliffhanger for next week!

Don't Try This At Home is an awesome episode of Ghost Whisperer. I think it's cool that they finally did a Bloody Mary episode since it is one of the most popular ghost tales ever. I really really loved this episode. I hate to admit some parts scared me just a tad bit! I think this episode was very well written and very well acted. I didn't want to take my eyes off the screen and I didn't want it to go on commercial. The ending was good! I never expected it. I wanted to cry though. It was so emotional. Anyways this episode was absolutely great! It has to be one of my favorite episodes of the show.

This episode surprised me, without a doubt. I just thought it'd be another episode where Melinda just goes on her adventures talking to ghosts and spirits, but this one was different. Every child could relate to this episode, adn it was great. I've thought about the Bloody Mary legend a bunch of times, and this completed my thoughts about it. I loved how they used a real website in the show too, so I just had to check that out. I thought doing the legend before too, but I never actually did it, I'm too scared. Melindia didn't have any fear going into it, and I thought that was interesting. I overcame my fear of Bloody Mary after this episode, because it won't make you scared unless you let it. This episode kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, and even after the episode I know it's not real; I had a weird felling looking into any mirror when I got up on commercial breaks. Wonderful episode, and it's exactly why I watch this show. It satisfied me without a doubt.
  • Another perfect installment of the Ghost Whisperer with all the elements we like and love. From here on out i'll call an episode that meets the established GW criteria Ghost Whisperesque. On that note we had it all Melinda doing

Another perfect installment of the Ghost Whisperer with all the elements we like and love. From here on out i'll call an episode that meets the established GW criteria Ghost Whisperesque. On that note we had it all Melinda doing great work and appropriately without fear due to her life long job of communing with the dead and looking good while doing it. Payne who for some reason is needed to explain paranormal activity to the woman who has been talking to ghost her whole life. Did his usual playful flirty banter and provided legend and myths behind the ghost phenomenon. Cameron Manhiem didn't do much but at least she did appear but once again with the focus so heavy on Payne some of the other characters aren't getting screen time. The episode was plenty creepy since season 2 the show has held a high amount of creep factor and i'm so glad it wasn't really the ghost we thought it was. Good episode this season is going great so far as to be expected.
  • another great episode, this one brings up an old myth.

The most normal scene ever, a girl,Allison, cleaning up after taking a shower. The only but is that she is hiding all shining surfaces near her but that's no enough, she is still attacked and ends up in the hospital with her face expressing fear.

Jim calls Melinda, he thinks it's supernatural. The girls was almost scared to death and now she is in a coma. Someone says they heard her saying Bloody Mary. Her two friends looked scared but they won't talk to Melinda.

After some digging Melinda discovers that Mary used to live in Grandview and that she was buried alive by her parents. So she goes to the archives and talks to that ghost and learns some details about Bloody Mary. Another girl gets into a coma, one of Allison's friend. Melinda goes and talks to Sloan, the last one and she reveals about a forth girl, Rachel that died summoning Bloody Mary.

She finds out later that Rachel had a condition and her heart was weak, she died scared and the cause was Sloan, she disguised herself of Mary.

It's Rachel the one haunting the girls and Melinda has to fix it. Rachel forgives Sloan and the other girls wake from the coma.

But a door was left open, Melinda summoned Mary and she is waiting for Melinda...

So yeah i thought that this was on the scarist episodes of GW! It wasn't too scary to enjoy, it was just right! The fact the the episode was based around Bloody Mary couldn't have been better, bringing new perspectives to the show, making is a lot scarier for one. Although hinting at Payne falling more in love is a big this to worry about we are just going to have to what where this one goes. This episode didn't however touch on the evil in Grandview which was hinted at last weeks episode and hopefullly some more of the shows story lines are conclued e.g Ramano and Gabril. All in all i loved this epidose!!
  • This one was more like one from Supernatural than the Ghost Whisperer

This episode was about a girl who died after saying Bloody Mary into a mirror. The ghost of Mary came to life and the girl was scared to death, literally. Then JLH calls the ghost through the mirror and must now convince the ghost that she's not the Bloody Mary that kills people. I liked this episode, but it seemed like something that would (and had during the first season) occur on the show Supernatural. They study and stop urban legends and myths and the like. JLH usually has to get real ghosts to cross over to Heaven. this episode was slightly different, but very good nonetheless. The only problem was not enough of the patented cleavage, but I guess you can't get that every time.
  • Run of the mill episode, just going through the motions

    "Mediocre"
An almost by the numbers , run of the mill episode of Ghost Whisperer. A simple plot with a red herring to mislead Melinda from the real culprit for this episode.Perhaps the red herring will return in a future episode and Mel can put the ghost on the right track.

There was no real ongoing plot development in this episode Professor Payne seems to have moved from eccentric to annoying. It looks like the new basement set will be getting a lot of use, i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure it wasn't mentioned before s03 e01.

Jim's new haircut isn't so shocking or scary now. I'm hoping next weeks episode is better
  • A wonderful case of public service AND a moody, atmospheric episode.

What a great idea this was -- use GW to focus on the pathological terror that develops in teen communities (especially in high school) surrounding these sorts of myths. I had a problem regarding this with my own niece. If only I'd had this episode!

I loved the atmospheric, gothiness of the episode. The one element I keep stumbling over is Jim -- I like the actor, I'd like to like the character, but imo he really no longer has a place in the series as it is. All of the Jim-and-Melinda stuff just feels tacked on for exposition -- exposition that might have been rendered in better ways. But the wonderful Rick-and-Melinda dynamic keeps moving on. I just adore their relationship and their scenes. It's obvious the writers do, too, since they seem to excel at writing for them.
  • One thing that I can say about this episode is that it's one of my favorites of the Ghost Whisperer so far.

Wow, what can I say about this episode of Ghost Whisperer? Some things that definitely come to mind are the ways the writers kept me engrossed with the plot by weaving it around such a popular Urban Legend.

What I thought was interesting about the episode was how the writers of the episode decided to center the storyline on the popular urban legend that is Bloody Mary and put a slightly modern tale on it. It was really interesting the way the three college girls thought that Mary was coming after them for daring Rachel, a former suitemate into trying the legend to see what would happen, only to have the girl be scared to death. Too bad it took Rachel starting to haunt the girls for them to start feeling bad about what happened.

Some other things that I really liked about the episode was how Grandview's records archivist was less uptight that he was in last week's episode and how the ghost was surprisingly helpful when Melinda was looking for answers in the Bloody Mary Myth. At least thanks to his help she was able to find out who really was haunting Sloane and her friends and was able to help Rachel come to terms with what happened before she crossed over. And lastly, I thought Professor Payne was extremely funny in the episode. Only he would have the gall to blame Melinda for his classes being unpopular and that website about the people trying the Bloody Mary myth going from being one of the most viewed web pages on the internet to being a virtual ghost town. But then again, when doesn't he act that way to Melinda?

In all, I found "Don't Try This At Home" to be a well written, suspenseful episode. I absolutely loved the way it was acted out and can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for the viewers.
  • Not the best, but unique in storytelling. Defiant plus!

"Don't Try This at Home" from the trailer was made out to be Ghost Whisperer's scariest episode to date but watching it I was disappointed in that I wasn't scared. Sure it was chilling but nothing to make you jump out of your seat or be afraid to go into the bathroom worthy, but I did enjoy it from beginning to end. The episode showed that GW can still be the same while playing with new elements. I defiantly liked how they kept accurate accounts of the legend of Bloody Mary while mixing it up a bit. I'll give them a round of applause for making it unique from any other show that told the tale. One thing I really liked about this episode was the ending, for sure. Another nice cliff-hanger that'll tie into the bigger picture.

Not GW's best efforts but as I said not it's worst. I feel this is really the transition episode into the new season, with the premiere being the season closure of last year.
  • A sad episode but good attempt.

This is my first episode of the show, just getting that out there. As a Jennifer Love Fefferman fan, I'm going to lay it out the way it should be. This was quite the mediocre episode... It needs a lot more writing work. The dialogue was very cheap, but as I can see, every episode is not written by the same person so.... yeah, maybe the older ones are better.. I guess I need to go back and watch those. But this episode as a first; isn't much of a grabber if you know what I mean. In time it should grow though. Good luck Feffy.
