I loved the idea of a new character, but I believe it needs a little more work. I just can't wait to see if what the new ghost said is true and the real meaning of it. Is Melinda really getting pregnant? I'm going to miss Payne though, he always helps Melinda and brings a little humor to the series, but I hope they still keep in touch even if he's not always on our episodes. I think it was a good season premiere, but it didn't WOW me. However, it promises to be an awesome season. I just hope it gets better with the time.moreless
  • Farewell Professor Payne!

This was a greate season premiere for the new season! I hthought that the fire at Roackland University was a great way to kick off the episode, and they built it up very nicely from there.

The storyline was immensely itnteresting. It was a sad one, in many aspects, but it did lead to some quite freaky moments, particularly when Melinda was trapped and nearly died in the fire!

Definitely a suspenseful and immensely intricate episode! Really loved every aspect of it, and hopefully it is a sign of great things oto come in the new season!

Keep it up, Ghost Whispere! This is an amazing show, and I hope it ckeeps on rolling that way!moreless
  • This episode was good, but it never answered the question of the last episode of season 3, y there were 6 people but only 5 shadows!!

    8.0
Overall, for a season premiere it wasn't bad, but i was a little disappointed they never explained the cliffhanger ending of season 3 where there was 6 people but only 5 shadows? Will they explain that later or just pretend it didn't exist? Overall though the ep was good, and i'm still unsure about Jamie Kennedy joing the cast, but then of course i was unsure about Jay Mohr, I guess I'll have to wait and see how this goes. I think they should have had the 4th season opener start where season 3 left off, but instead it steered away from that, I just hope they answer it quickly about the season 3 cliffhanger.moreless
  • I need answers!

I was getting really excited for the return of ghost whisperer and really looking forward to knowing about what was up with the 5 shadows. I was really disapointed when they only mentioned it once. I thought Prof Payne was going to do a big insight into it but he didn't. But it did give me a few things to think about like about the black lady that helped Melinda I thought that maybe she was some kind of white lighter like from charmed and the thing she said about death brushing off on Melinda was also very interesting. I also found it a bit weird that they didn't say anything about her father or Gabriel! well hopefully big chills will be better!moreless
  • Jamie Kennedy joins the cast of Ghost Whisperer while Jay Mohr leaves to do a sitcom. Very exciting season premiere nonetheless.

    9.0
Well, the season 4 premiere was exciting! I was hoping that we would find out about the only being 5 shadows when there were 6 people thing, but there was nothing really about it. I am glad that Rick didn't die and he just left, which means that Jay Mohr could come back if he wanted too, which I hope that he does, he's so funny how he brings his sarcasm into serious things! The main storyline in this episode was introducing Eli (Jamie Kennedy), he has a near death experience after a fire in his office at the university. After having this experience, he begins to hear ghosts, not see them, but only hear them. I really thought that the girl he was with was the on who set the fire, but it turns out it was her roommate, who turned out to be her foster brother. There is a new mystery this season, that is the woman with the group of people who showed up and saved Melinda because she did something for them. I thought it was weird when she said that there was a price. What price? What ever price it may be, it won't stop Melinda from crossing people over. At the end of the episode, Eli and Melinda agree to work together, which I don't really like since I consider Melinda to be independent in helping people and helping their families, but I guess I'll have to get used to it.

Oh, and before I forget to mention, Jim and Melinda are now trying to have a baby! I wonder if that will happen this season?

I really liked this episode, and I hope that season 4 will be a great season!moreless

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Watcher: We've watched many like you, who do what you do, but don't understand.
Melinda: Look, if you're trying to tell me I should stop, you can save yourself.
Watcher: Understand the price. You don't know the price.
      Melinda: What price?
Watcher: You move between the world of life and death. Like your friend Eli, sometimes you come back from one with a touch of the other.
      Melinda: A touch?
Watcher: Of death. Be careful, it might brush off.
      Melinda: On what?
      Watcher: On what you touch.

    • Rick: You care about me. That's why you've been so mad. I figured it out, you don't want me to go.
      Melinda: Course I care.
Rick: A lot. You care about me a lot.
Melinda: What do you want me to say? That you're one of my best friends? And that, although I fully understand why you have to go, it hurts... to know that you would pick an old pile of artifacts over me?
Rick: Yeah, something like that would be nice.
      Melinda: Happy?
Rick: Can I have a hug for the road? Maybe a big, squeezy, chesty one?
      Melinda: Don't be an idiot.
Rick: I know. I pushed it, I know it.
Melinda: Don't be an idiot, be safe.
Rick: Hey, I'm coming back here and I'm coming back safe and sound, okay? I promise you that.

    • Payne (smelling the papers): Here's something very mysterious, how come your notes smell like beer?
Eli: Cause they were on fire. The bottle was closer than the extinguisher.
Payne: The smelling of Pilsner, maybe something Czech?
      Eli: Not bad.
      Payne: I went to college.

    • Melinda: Has anyone seen Rick Payne?
Payne: I have, but it's usually when I'm standing in front of a mirror.
      Melinda: You're OK!
Payne: Yeah well I'm more than OK I mean, ask around...
Melinda: Why the hell didn't you answer your phone?
Payne: Melinda I talked to you an hour ago on the phone inside my home, what makes you think I was inside that building?

    • Eli: Look, if this is a cry for help I can help you with your depression, your anxiety, even your self-esteem issues. But to tell you, I don't do well with your type of nut job.
Melinda: My type of nut job?
Eli: Yeah. Bizarre beliefs, superstitious behavior, people use that to hide from their real problems. I don't have the patience you might say.
Melinda: Wow is this the type of beside manner they're teaching these days?
Eli: I'm sorry...I like to keep it real.

    • Ned: So what do you know about the ghost?
Melinda: She was one of his patients, they were caught in the fire together he was revived, I wish I knew more.
Delia: Yeah, like what they were doing together in his office at 10 pm.

    • Payne: Melinda, I'm not a very sensitive guy OK? It once took a girlfriend six months to break up with me cause I thought she was expressing disbelief every time she said 'get out'.
