Melinda must confront her hostile mother (Anne Archer) in order to make right the situation for a little girl whom Melinda first knew back in school. The girl died, but at the time Melinda first encounters her, back in the fourth grade, she does not know how to help her. It takes the return of the ghost (Abigail Breslin) to get the ball rolling. The girl's parents are long divorced, which complicates matters. Archer is delightful as Melinda's sharp-tongued mother who harbors a deep, dark secret. The show's continuity is on display here, as the girl ghost goes from sickly-looking to absolutely radiant as she helps reunite her parents.
Brilliant Episode, Melinda Is Forced To Reconcile With Her Mother, When A Child She Knew (In 4th Grade) Died, And Wants To Know Where Her Parents Are Now.
Very Moving Episode, Especially When Melinda Saw The Ghost Of Sarah Applewhite Who Died, And Nobody Believed Her, And The Flashbacks Were Sad, Especially When Her Mother Ruined Melinda's Birthday By Arguing With Her Grandmother.
Melinda Found Sarah's Parents, And They Convinced Sarah That They Do Love Each Other, Very Much, And Sarah Finally Crossed Over To The Other Side.
This Episode Brought A Tear To My Eye, The Scene Where Sarah Crossed Into The Light Is Very Moving.
I thought it was great that she finally helps the first spirit she has ever saw. I also thought it was pretty cool that it was Melinda's birthday. my favorite quote was: Melinda: I have to met someone in the bedroom. Jim: Excuse me?
and I can't believe that Melinda's mother has an ability to but now when I am writing this Ghost Whisperer season two just ended and Melinda's mom still hasn't helped and you didn't even see her in season two well back to the episode sorry I got a lil off track but anyway it was really good at the end where Melinda was at her mom house telling her why they can't get along. This was a great episode and hope you loved it also.
Melinda's First Ghost focuses on one of Melinda's old friends, Sarah Applewhite. Sarah was her best friend in the fourth grade and also the first ghost she could see. Many years later, Sarah comes to Melinda in the form of a fourth grader (the way she was when she passed) and seeks Melinda's help. The thing is, Sarah can already cross over, but she has some business to attend to. Sarah tries to get her mother help, who is also sick with the same sickness she died from.
I really liked how they went back to the past and showed us Melinda's first time to encounter a ghost. The shock of knowing why Melinda's mother is so against the spirit thing is also a great part of this episode. Really great episode.
This episode had so much going on in it... It revealed so many pieces, and brought up so much more to come.
You see all these dead people being reunited for a short time with their families. The scenes in this were so well done, and the character's were great. Melinda's mother is a good character, I think the show can only get better if they keep her in more of the episodes coming up.
This is definitely the best episode of the season... it really is surprising how good some of these episodes are, you just wouldn't expect it.
Another triumph for Ghost Whisperer. They always find ways to make me cry for the happy ending. A truly magical show. Melinda\'s first ghost really shows the damaging effects of children dying through Sarah\'s parents. You can see their pain and suffering due to their loss of their only daughter. Melinda always seems to help them in the right kind of way, nevermind her cow of a mother\'s fear and loathing for Melinda\'s gift. I really didn\'t like her mother and that is the way it was supposed to be I\'m sure. This episode truly showed that Melinda is her own wonderful person and that she did not need her mother to give her a direction. I think everyone can truly admire and love Melinda for that.
This episode actually brought a tear to my eye. It also gave me an explanation to give to my children about death. Showing that to past relatives that have past you don't change from the age you were at their death and neither do they.
I absolutely love this show. Our family almost feel it is rather spiritual. It has started to fill in the gaps as to what happened in her child hood, but why does her family have this ability. Was it an anceint curse to her bloodline or was it a gift from some gypsy ? Hewitt does a wonderful job with this role. She fits the part. The writers could have filled in a little more about the dark stranger in the antique store though. He seemed very menaceing, could it be her father ? Keep up the good work, and I will keep watching.
This episode went deep for the first time; Melinda's problems with her mother were very realistic and uncharacteristically harsh for this show. The supporting cast was amazing, especially the two little girls. This show is really starting to hit its stride, and I hope it continues to be this emotionally insightful. All in all, a wonderful hour of television.
The child who plays Sarah is amazingly talented, this is a kickass episode. the writing was the best that i have seen yet, and the guest stars rocked! Jennifer Love Hewitt is so friggin talented, and she was better than i have ever seen her in this one. there was the perfect amount of weeping from the actors, and even though Melinda didn't cry as much this time it was totally made up for by the pools of water that Sarah wept. Now i might just be saying this because i hate reality but, if there was any night to NOT to watch that crappy show, Dancing with the stars, or as i like to call it Skipping with the Rejects , this would be the night.I have to comment on anne archer, fabulous work that i am hoping we will see more of. as of friday, i was hooked!!!!!
I loved this episode it revealed Melinda's childhood and how she met her first ghost along with how she deals with it 20 years later. I love little Melinda and the girl that plays her is an amazing child star I can already tell lol. The effects were spectacular the switching from adult to little Melinda was really cool along with the dream sequence oh how I missed that. The conflict between Melinda and her Mother was also great it helped the storyline with the ghost and also gave us more info on her Mother dealing with Melinda and her "gift".
Must say again the acting from everyone is amazing Jennifer, Aisha, David and the guest-stars all did a fantastic job along with the Writer for this episode.
