Melinda: You know, I was thinking it would be fun to go out tonight and... celebrate.
Jim: You were?
Melinda: Yeah. Life is good, you know, and racking up another year, well that is big stuff.
Jim: Damn straight! Big stuff. I'm gonna go round up the usual suspects.
-
Melinda: I have to meet someone in the bedroom.
Jim: Excuse me?
-
Miss Riley: (to Melinda) Time is a funny thing.
-
Mrs. Gordon: I suffered years through it with my mother, I'm not going to do it again.
-
Melinda: You know, maybe I should go and to talk to your mom alone first.
Sarah: Why?
Melinda: Well, cause there might be grown-up talk.
Sarah: Melinda, you're a kid. She's not gonna talk to you about grown-up stuff.
-
Melinda: I haven't always wanted this gift myself. In fact, sometimes I absolutely hate it. But I do good with it, Mom!
-
Miss Dowling: How could I survive the thing that killed my little girl?
-
Melinda: Grace, are you all right? Forgive me, but you don't look well.
Grace Dowling: Don't I? Well I... suppose there's a reason for that. The fact is that I'm dying.
-
Mrs. Gordon: (to Melinda) I've been so busy lately, the house has gotten out of control. Not that it was ever in control.
-
Melinda: Sarah, you don't have to hide, no one can see you.
Sarah: You can.
Melinda: Well, there aren't a whole lot of people like me.
-
Jim: Mel, don't give her that kind of power. It's your birthday, take it back.
-
Melinda: (about Sarah) She's coming to me. Not just in dreams, I can see her spirit.
Mr. Applewhite: I see... I see... That's very interesting, good luck with that.
-
Sarah: (to Melinda) I don't wanna do that light thing until I know where my mom and dad are.
-
Andrea: Do you see someone in the store?
Melinda: Yeah, a customer.
Andrea: Besides her.
-
Jim: How was the play?
Melinda: Spookier than I expected.
-
Sarah: Tell them it's okay to be happy. Tell them I'm happy. Everything is the way it's supposed to be.
-
Andrea: Now can we move these dolls? Cause they are freaking me out.
-
Andrea: (to Melinda) Can a civilian get a ghost vibe like that?
-
Melinda: Do I know you?
Sarah: Why didn't you help me?
(Melinda wakes up from a dream)
Melinda: Who are you?
Sarah: Don't you remember?
-
Melinda: She'll be haunting places that are familiar to her.
Jim: Which means?
Melinda: Which means I have to go home.
