Tonight's episode revolvoed around Julian, an ex-con from last week's episode who died when Jim's ambluance rolled over. I must say, I found this episode to be really well written and it didn't go the way I thought it would, because I thought that the spirit of Julian would try to hurt Melinda by posessing her husband. Even though Jim was in a way posessed by his spirit, it wasn't to hurt Melinda, or the people around Jim, it was to help Melinda when she and Jim went to visit Julian's murder victim. When they went to visit the family and when they wanted nothing to do with the apologies of him, it was through Jim that you can see the anger and anguish that Julian was feeling, because of how he changed while he was in prision. And while Jim and Melinda were in the diner, I thought that it was really nice to see that they were able to persuade Julian to go and make amends with his wife, to help make him feel better and then be able to cross over. I found it really touching that when they went to his wife's apartment that he was able to come to terms moreso with what he did to his family before he was sent to jail, by his own son. I kind of found it light-hearded that Julian was fine with his son turning him in to the police, in order to protect his mother. It was with this action, and with his family's forgiveness that Julian was able to leave Jim's body and cross over, because he was finally able to start feeling peace about his actions while he was alive.
In a different storyline in this episode, an old high school and college friend of Melinda's came into her shop, wanting to talk to her. When we finally learn that she told all of her new college friends about Melinda's gift, only in order to make new friends and to redicule her, causing a rift between the two. The episode ended with the two old friends having lunch together when we learn what the old friend's motives are: to find out what happened to the emerald necklace that her desceased aunt promised her. When the friend tells her her predicament, you start getting a smirk like the one Melinda had on her face when you see the aunt standing by her niece with the necklace on, motioning to Melinda to not let on that she was buried with the necklace on and then both Melinda and the ghost left the table where Melinda and her old friend had lunch.
In all, I really enjoyed the episode, and that was due to Melinda working with Jim to help a spirit cross over. I hope that next week's episode is as well written as this one.
