  • When Melinda and her husband go on a vacation for their anniversary, ghosts aren't too far behind!! And, Melinda is left once again to find out why a ghost is haunting a couple.moreless

A really good episode. Melinda and her husband Jim go on a cruise for their anniversary. The problem a ghost is haunting a couple on the ship, and she's left to figure it out. It takes her from one point to another and finally she's able to solve it through the ship's owner and some other guy, I can't remember his role, but he has written book(s) about the ship they're on. This is the ship's last voyage and was going to be scrapped, but with the truth coming out it's going to be a floating museum. It was a different take on the show. It really did bring in a new fresh of air and a new revitalizing factor to the show, at least for me.moreless
  • Ghost Whisperer continues to give us good shows.

The fourth episode of season four began with Melinda going on a boat trip hoping to be able to relax, only to discover a plethora of ghosts needing her assistance. After shipping most of them off to Eli she attempted to solve the murder of one in particular Lorelei, played by Peyton List (Mad Men). The plot was pretty interesting, but just about every show has done a cruise episode of some kind. Not that it was tepid, but just not the type of installment you expect from Ghost Whisperer. The presence of Jamie Kennedy was also missed here as Eli's been playing off Melinda well and the two are great together.

The climax of the show was also, for a lack of better words, anti-climatic, and not the kind of ending I had expected or hoped for. Another good episode, just not the best so far this season.moreless
  • This was a great episode with plenty of twists and empotion.

I kept thinking the whole time that she was murdered. What a shock to see it was an accident. I also loved how they put everything together for a very good ending. This was a great episode. From the very start it was kind of creepy with the dead girl kissing the guy. Then just as soon as you thought you had it figured changed. This was a very touching episode with plenty of excitement and chills. I couldn't believe the terrible luck that the two young lovers had. What a shame to be so close and then so far away. I thought the guest stars were outstanding also.moreless
  • Melinda and Jim go on a romantic cruise....until some ghosts show up

In this episode of Ghost Whisperer, the following happens. Melinda and Jim go on a curse, for 3 days. Of course it isn't long before Melinda sees a ghost and is yet again forced into a situation, where she has to help someone cross over. The ghost whom she is having problems with is feeding off of the energy of a man they have just met, who is on his honeymoon with his new bride. Melinda and Jim soon believe that the Husband and the ghost, where having an affair. The ghost turns out not to be that of the woman who jumped overboard, after she is found alive and well. But Melinda believes that the ghost met a violent death. We see that night the Husband sleep walking and walking off of the ship. Luckily he survives. We soon realise that the ghosts fiancé killed her and that she believed it was the Husband, but now realises that it isn't him.

After a vision Melinda believes that a member of the crew killed the woman. We learn that she snuck onto the ship and within three days her body was found. They were ordered to get rid of the body and so her body was simply thrown overboard. We soon learn that the victim was in love with the owner of the ship and he went on board to be with him. We learn that she saw him with another woman. She slipped and fell and died. We learn that he went back to Rio for her twice, but had no luck in finding her. We then see her crossing over.

Melinda then also manages to cross over all of the other ghosts on the ship. All except for one, who wants to travel around the world forever. At the end of the episode Melina thinks that she might be pregnant.moreless
  • One of my all-time favorites!

This is an episode that I'll always remember as one of my personal favorites. I really love d the idea of a reomantic getaway, as the basics of a storyline, and they really developed it well from that point.

The storyline was not a straightforward one, and the blonde ghost was pretty faunny, and a nice addition. I really enjoyed the case with the ghost. The story took many twists and turns, and until the end, it was basically impossible to figure out how everything was going to end!

Keep it up, Ghost Whisperer, as Season 4 has started with some pretty scintillating episodes! Can't wait for more!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The name of the tortured female ghost is Lorelei.

Lorelei is also the name of one of the Rhine Maidens in German mythology who lured navigators to their dooms with their singing, much as the ancient Greek Sirens did.

    • On the way to their cabin, Melinda is told by a female ghost that Audrey Hepburn once stayed in Melinda's cabin and that Melinda looks like her. Jennifer Love Hewitt once played Miss Hepburn in the 2000 biopic The Audrey Hepburn Story.

When Melinda enlists the aid of Eli via phone, in dealing with the requests of several ghosts, the first one to approach identifies himself as "Rogo"...Rogo was the last name of Ernest Borgnine's character in The Poseidon Adventure (1972).

Another Poseidon Adventure name turns up later on in a character named Linarcos (Anthony Tyler Quinn) who shares his name with Fred Sadoff who played a Mr. Linarcos.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Melinda: (to Jim) I might be pregnant.

    • Melinda: How come you didn't go with the others, last night?
Betty: When I was 39 my doctor told me I had congestive heart failure and could drop dead any second. So, I packed all my best clothes, my medical records, got my will in order and booked a world cruise on the Claridon. I wanted it to last forever. So far so good.

    • Melinda: (hits Jim) Jim wake up.
Jim: Huh. What. Wait, i was ah..
Melinda: Dreaming? Did you see her?
Jim: No, no, I can't remember anything.
Melinda:(exhales loudly) Just get dressed the ghost was here and I'm pretty sure that I just saw the word 'AFT' bruised into her back.
      Jim: What does that mean?
Melinda: The rear of the ship.
Jim: I know that, but whats it doing there?
Melinda: I don't know. It looked like she'd fallen or was pushed against something. (sees scratches on Jim's back) Are you sure that you don't remember any of your dream?
      Jim: Yeah, scouts honor. Why?
      Melinda: Good, come on.
      Jim: Where are we goin'?
      Melinda: AFT.

    • Melinda: What happened to you?
Betty: Oh, so sorry. I was dead in my stay room for two days before the steward found me, the blood settled to that side. My advice if your having a massive coronary, don't put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign out first. Now come on, your gonna love the Claridon.
      Melinda: I already do.

    • Jim: You know, you do have a spooky knack to get people to open up to you.
Melinda: Yeah, except usually it's after they've died.

    • Cliff: (As he throws the bracelet he gave to Lorelai into the sea) I saw that in a movie once.

This is in reference to the famous scene in the Academy Award winning movie Titanic in which Rose (played by Kate Winslet) throws the necklace into the sea after finally moving on from a lost love, Jack (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), many years ago, just like Cliff does in this scene.
