"Shadow Boxer" has a mother ghost trying to reunite her husband and son, who is an up-and-coming boxer. One of the reasons you should watch this episode is the famous movie actress Sonia Braga as the mother. She is a strong presence. A cute bit of business has Melinda preparing a meal for father and son, using Braga's recipe for chicken and rice. Problem is, they don't want to be at the same table and end up accusing Melinda of somehow tricking them. Peter Onorati, who some of you may remember from a bunch of past TV shows, plays a somewhat shady promoter looking to take the kid pro when what he really needs is to make it to the Olympics.
Although I usually like every episode of ghost whisperer, I didn't really like this one. In fact I think it was my least faorite episode of the season. It's not that it was a bad episode, I just didn't like it. It as different than all of the other episodes and it just didn't catch my attention. Although I have to admit the basic plot was good and the acting wasn't horrible. Once again this was not my favorite episode but I suppose it could have been worse. I truely hope that future episodes will be better. Ghost Whisperer forever!
When Melinda and Jim both find themselves in a boxing gym, Melinda notices a ghost, the mother of one of Jim's friends in the gym. The mother apparently died of cancer and in order to cross over must find out why her husband and son are fighting, and later on to get them to make peace. Melinda finds it hard to convince the son about the whole ghost whispering thing, but the husband is a true believer. As usual, Melinda pulls through for everyone and fixed the whole problem. This episode was too emotional for me. I'd like to watch ghost whisperer to be afraid. Greta episode though.

A very great story. It showed the importance of family and why you should keep together with them. I found it funny how suddenly Melinda could cook with the help of the ghost mother of the boxer. I found it charming. The only thing I found wrong with this episode is that I can't believe that the ghost forgot about what she told her husband before her mind truly went. It seemed a very significant thing for her to remember. I just don't believe that she would forget something like that. Despite that it was still touching and wonderful to see. Keep them coming!
So often this show gets me teary eyed and emotional. For some reason this weeks failed to do so. I liked the actors and the characters fine but there just seemed to be something missing. Maybe we didnt see Melissa agonize over the problems enough. She kept talking about setting bounderies...blah, blah, blah. It's not like there are so many people these ghosts can go to, you know. Geez. I'm admittedly not a fan of boxing so that didnt help either. This was a sub par episode in my book.
This was my least favorite episode of Ghost Whisperer so far. The story just didn't draw me in. It really dragged on, and the reason why the father and son weren't talking after the death of their mother was kind of lame. The one plus was the very cute (and realistic) interaction between Melinda and Jim. They act like anewlywed couple and Jennifer Love Hewitt and David Conrad have some real chemistry going on.
Melinda helps a dead mother reconnect her son with his father, whom he blames for letting his mother die alone, because he father pushed him into a boxing match, when he wanted to be by his mother's side.
Every week is the same thing.......Melinda helps a lost spirit, although this is what the show is primarily about.....but shake it up a bit, but a little more sugar and spice into the storylines.
Is there ever going to be a spirit that Melinda can't help?
Will Jim ever be a real man and get a backbone?
So many, maybes, wants and ifs in this show.
But, overall, not a bad episode. What really gave it, it's boast for me was Nicholas Gonzalez.......his so hot, and Sonia Braga is a great actress too.
This Episode really did have that family feel to it that not most Episodes have and I really liked it and hope for more Episodes like these. The Drama between the father and son was really sad due to the passing of the mother. I's also really glad that it goes deeper into the family of the ghost more like how the parents met what happened to the mother and why the drift between the father and son.
The highlights for me was Andrea flipping Melinda into the mat that was just hilarious, the Pizza scene Melinda and Jim had but I really liked the ending with the fight and the mother just watching them getting along so well before she finally crossed into the light.
This really is an amazing Episode IMO it just keeps on getting better and better even if it has a few downers they are still very enjoyable. I just really like every Main/Guest Characters in this Episode I think they were really well written and really well acted to where it was really relatable.
