  • Sorry, but this series is a PALE version of the far superior Medium, and the hackneyed see-it-from-a-mile-away melodrama only serves to prove the point. This beats Threshold? OR Joan of Arcadia? How sad.

I returned to the two-part finale to give the series one last try, but the inferior acting and derivative script puts this firmly in my don\'t watch list. I get that some folks must like JLH for some reason. Or that simple minded Christian fundamentalists grasp at ANYTHING that portends to espouse a literal interpretation of their definition of how the afterlife works. Hewitt is certainly attractive ... but her performance here is a notch below daytime soaps. Maybe if I was a teenage girl or a romance-novel-reading housewife I would get it, but nothing rings true for me here. Not the reactions of the supporting/guest casts, not the dialog, not even the basic premise.

And the \"surprise\" ending? For gosh sakes, rent M. Night\'s masterpiece \"The Sixth Sense\" ... the same theme and concept, but done right. Or even better, support Medium over on NBC, a truly superior television program in a similar vein.
  • This is why everyone should watch this series!

    SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!!!!

I have to say that I watched this episode as a rerun during the end of season three and am very sad that I did, because at that time I didn't care about Andrea, Melinda's store partner.

I have been fortunate to be able to watch the entire first season again and go through all the emotions of it. When I first began to watch the episode again, I knew the conclusion and felt as if I should just skip it -- but didn't!

I'm glad I did not, this is THE reason to watch this series. It was the best episode as of yet (meaning from season one) and the twist ending where we find out that Andrea is dead is classic and greatly written.

The first time I watched the episode, it never hit me that she could be dead and that's great writing and acting and directing.

This is one of the truly best episodes of Ghost Whisperer and if this doesn't get you addicted to the series...I have NO idea what will.
  • An amazing episode with so many twists

This episode was so surprising. It had you wondering whether Melinda had gotten herself into trouble with that guy who worked for the government. He actually turned out to be OK with the fact that she can see the dead.

I was biting my nails so much because of how exciting it is. You want people to be found alive from the plane crash but everytime you are told that there has been no survivers so far, your heart drops.

The ending was just breath-taking the way all the spirits were walking towards the light. I felt saddened by the fact that there was a select few which chose to stay with evil mask man. I wanted them to realise that it's better for them where all the others have gone. After that I got such a shock when Andrea's brother wasn't the one who had died but Andrea was the one who had been driving and got hit by the accident. I cried my eyes out when she realised she was dead.

It made me cry more when she said it was her brothers birthday and it reminded me how cruel this show may seem, because they took her when it was her brothers birthday.

It was such a beautiful episode and one of the best in the first season. The identity has not been properly told of the mask man yet, but I thought he was a very scary character who appeared out of nowhere and gave you a scare.

A great episode and I hope that all of them are as good as this one.
  • Melinda must deal with the results of the plane crash, the investigation into the crash, the spirits who need her help to move on, the victims families who need help moving on and the wide-brimmed hat man. Also, helping a friend see the light.

I cannot say I am a big fan of the show. It is too "Touched By an Angel" with happy endings and such. I absolutely loved this episode because it ended with a completely out of the blue, never saw it coming conclusion. It is only in watching the episode again do you notice the "Sixth Sense" moments, Andrea not actually touching things, her being ignored by the plane crash investigator, etc... She spends the episode interacting only with Melinda, worried that her brother was on the flight, terrified that she has lost him. You never get what has happened until her brother arrives in town and passes her on the street, not seeing her to be consoled by Melinda. It is a sad episode for the character of Melinda because you gotta wonder how painful it is when she can see so much, know so much yet to be unable to help a person who was so close to her, who was her friend.
  • I haven't had this much time watching a twisting ending since "The Sixth Sense."

How many times have we seen a surprise ending in a movie or TV show? Too many to count if you ask me. This day in age when we see a movie, (or TV show) we are almost always expecting a twisting ending, because it happens so often in movies. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE surprise endings. It wasn't until this episode that I really noticed that I haven't had so much fun watching a twisting ending in anything since the sixth sense. There's a sense of "AHH, why didn't I think of that!" after you see this episode. You hit yourself, and wonder how could it be, but it happened, and you end up praising the show for it. They did an absolute amazing job with it, and I was surprised. Like "The Sixth Sense," you can replay the episode, and see Andrea make so many obvious actions that give her away, but your mind watching the first time around, doesn't catch it. That is the work of a talented writer. If you haven't seen this episode, check it out!
  • My definite favorite episode (part 2)!!!!!

Awww... Why'd Andrea have to die...? I liked her a lot! She was really funny! Drats... But anyways, other than that, I liked this episode A LOT too, but it still didn't beat the first part. That was one chiller-show... And I still don't get what that laughing ghost's job is (the one that little girl described as a "Guardian Angel" of some sort...I think...)...? If that guy's really a "Guardian Angel", why the heck's he laughin' all the time?! That can't be a good angel's job... Anyways, the first time I watched this episode, I almost dropped a couple of water-works during the "Andrea's Dead" event... I still don't get why'd she die, not her brother! She was stupid to drive out to town, and now we won't be able to watch her or listen to her fantastic jokes anymore... Waaah!!! ...But still, I have to admit, great episode!
  • Season Finale...

    10
    "Perfect"
The emotional intensity of this season finale is heavy. This is probably the episode where Melinda cries the most, or where you would cry the most... I appreciated the fact that there was no redundance with the skeptic "I don't believe you" cliché that everyone realistically reacts with in this episode... Henry Czerny, the authoritative guy and every one of the family victims - especially the husband and father of the young girl takes it in so easily. Oh yeah, the girl also tells Melinda that she is "The One". Jennifer Love Hewitt and company do great... The ending is emotionally overwhelming. It's heartwarming when the souls cross over into the light and a few remaining stay with Wide Brim Hat Man. But the most intimately emotional sequence happens in the end with Andrea, Melinda and Andrea's brother, Mitch. "Love Never Dies." I guess that's true... The thing is, Wide Brim Hat Man seems to get the last scene, there is lack of denouement in that issue... Will these things be brought to closure in future episodes of Ghost Whisperer? Will Melinda indeed pay for making those souls cross over? I guess that is just to get us hooked for future plans of the series.
  • hailing from ireland, we dont get american shows until a year after they start. so i only discovered ghost whisperers before christmas. i have fallen in love with this show.

this episode had me in tears. she lost one of her best friends in andrea. had to get people from the plane crash to cross over and actually find a way of telling andrea that she has died. thought the episode before this one was emotional, but this just made me weep, certainly could feel the fear and confusion in the episode. soo powerful to watch. seeing the light and seeing so many people cross over was an emotional moment in the episode for me. loved it. scary, exciting. what a show. great acting in this episode especially, could feel that melinda was taken back by the power of the light.
  • Oh God, this 3 episode storyline was such an "experience" to watch, incredibly entertaining, edge-of-seat stuff. With amazing acting and writing through out. This is the most epic Ghost Whisper yet.

Oh God, this 3 episode storyline was such an "experience" to watch, incredibly entertaining, edge-of-seat stuff. With amazing acting and writing through out. This is the most epic Ghost Whisper yet. I consider Free Fall, The One & Love Never Dies all one big episode. I'm looking for a word to put on these episodes and I keep coming back to 'torturous'. But torturous in an incredible, amazing way. It was hard to watch because the acting and writing was done so well that it made the tragedy in the episode so much more. Almost like watching United 93, or Titanic. I'll really miss the character of Andrea and her farewell was well done. Jennifer Love Hewitt was amazing through out the whole episode, better then any acting in any of her film roles. This was her at her prime. And all the supporting actors and guest stars were incredible too. A+, AMAZING.
  • Compelling plot with a twist.

This episode dealt with Melinda helping the victims of the plane crash move over, whilst an evil black-hat-wearing character tried to trick the souls into remaining on Earth. Melinda considered the possibility of giving up her soul to spare the 250 victims, but ended up convincing most of them to cross over in an emotional scene where everyone, including Melinda and her husband, saw the light. Most chose to move on, except a few remained with the evil guy.

Meanwhile Andrea was upset and trying to find out if her brother had been on the plane when it crashed. Melinda had something to tell Andrea but then she saw Andrea's brother coming towards the shop. He was alive because he never caught his scheduled flight. BUT instead of rushing into Andrea's arms he walked right past her and to Melinda. It turns out that Andrea was DEAD. She died in a car accident during the plane crash and Melinda hadn't yet been able to break the news to her. Andrea tearfully realizes she is dead, we see the evil guy laughing behind her and the season is over. Andrea's death was completely unexpected to me. I was in tears.. sad episode.. but sad episodes always make the most compelling viewing.

I couldn't put how good this episode was into words, but I'll try. This epi had it all happinesses, excitement, and sadness. It was amazing when all those spirits went into the light. Even the people who weren't dead could see it because there were so many spirits going into it. And then there is the Wide-Rim hat guy. He was the one who was holding all the spirits tricking them into not going into the light. Then there was the twist with Andrea who was worried her brother was dead but in the end it turned out he was alive and she was dead. That made me very sad because that meant Aisha wouldn't be on the show anymore. But luckily we meet another good friend later. So like I said this show was Beyond Amazing!!!
  • Wow. I couldn't believe it. Andrea...

Melinda goes to the crash site. There are so many spirits that need to be crossed over. Melinda can see the light. She also meets the wide brimmed hat man who is pure evil trying to make the ghosts stay. Melinda crosses most of the ghosts into the light but some do stay with wide brimmed hat man. Andrea is searching for her brother, trying to make sure he is okay. He is okay. It is Andrea who is dead and didn't know it. I almost cried for she was a good friend to Melinda. When Andrea realizes she is dead the wide brim hat man is waiting for her. That's the end of the story!
  • wow...I can't believe it!

OMG this was the best season finale I've ever seen...the writers really tricked us. They wanted think us Andrea's brother died but it was her all the time! This was so sad and when she's found it out in this last second....this was just too sad. And now I'm really unhappy because Aisha left the show. I liked her and her character...:( But Mel has found another good friend. When all the spirits were crossing over and we saw the light it was so great...somethin special cuz nobody's ever seen it before...Now I hope The Wide Brim Hat Man let Andrea cross over after he took her with him...
  • One of the Best Season Finale's I've ever seen!

After the plane crash Melinda helps solve some pieces of why the plane crashed and who was on it. We find out that there was one survivor. A girl that was driving in the car with her mom when the plane came down and killed her mom. Later on we see all the spirits together. Melinda starts talking to them with the Evil spirit trying to covince the spirits to stay. Eventually everyone (Even Melinda and Jim) see the light and most of the spirits go into the light. Some stay with the evil spirit. After we see Melinda at the shop telling Andrea that her brother didn't die. They both run outside and Andrea's brother is there. He goes straight to Melinda w/o noticing Andrea it is then told that Andrea is the one who died when she was driving to her brother's apartment. We then see Andrea standing and the Evil Spirit standing right behind her...CLIFFHANGER...!
  • This episode was a good one but a little overly emotional. I mean seriously, why does someone who's seen the dead all her life basicly cry and run away from those who need her help.

This episode was a good one but a little overly emotional. I mean seriously, why does someone who's seen the dead all her life basicly cry and run away from those who need her help. I thought that was pretty stupid and kinda showing one of the few problems this show has, Melinda's crying thing. I understand that she's emotional, ok, but does she really have to cry in every episode, cause that makes it silly.

I think that Andrea's death is a good thing because it makes the show more sophisticated and dramatic (good dramatic, not bad dramatic). Even though I saw the end coming I liked it anyway.

9.3 Points out of 10 for me.

This was a great episode but it was really sad and I am really sad that Aisha Tyler left the show. First off I felt really bad for Melinda I mean trying to pass over that many ghost / spirits but she did it anyways. Ialso feel bad for the paramedics and the fireman and how they got to clean all of that up and it also must be very emotional to not find any living bodies and the emotions get worst because they barely get any sleep. I was at the edge of my seat and at the end was crying. This was a great episode.

this is the best episode of first season, all i thought was andrea's brother would be in trouble,he would probablly die,it seems like that, and melinda was afraid to tell her the truth.it really stunk in her crop.

the truth is i got really shocked about the ending, when andrea saw her brother, she was so happy about he is still alive, then she found out her brother didn't die,she did.she will never be alive, never talk to her brother and do anything she likes.life is so cruel.

melinda faced so many ghosts, and let them peace, this time she has to make her best friend peace.everything was so touching.

I just caught up on the entire first season through DVDs and I am hooked. I only wish that I had been watching from the beginning so that I could have seen the second season now. This final episode was tear-inducing for a sucker like me, but I have to say that I wasn’t as surprised as some by the main character death. Not that I’m an amazing predictor, but I got such a strange The Sixth Sense vibe when nobody would talk to her. It was sad watching her the rest of the episode knowing that. But I am now a fan and I will be watching this show.

Now, I admit Ghost Whisper is a great show, but after watching this episode, the series finale, I\'m hooked forever. I think I\'ve never been so suprised on any TV programme before, well I possibly have but, this was a great episode. Definatly an season finale that will make me watch season 2 when it comes out in the UK. I was only disappointed they killed Andrea off but, I suppose it made the ending so great.

Last of the first seris and was great but was I the only one who saw the ending comeing?

was a really good episdoe and cant wait for next season but I did see teh ending comeing only a few times during the episode did I think I was wrong. after the horrible plane crash hundreds are dead and mellinda has alot of work on her hands especialy with the creepy guy in the hat trying to get the gohsts to stay earth bound and tells mellinda the only way he will let them go is if he can have her.

this episode was still a tearjerker even though I geussed the ending because Andrea who has been searching for her brother who she thought he was on the plane finds out that her brother is alive but she is dead and just didnt know it as she was killed by the plane when it crashed. the shocker is that the creepy hat man takes Andreas spirit.

I can not wait for the next season and find out what \"youre the one means\"

I watched this and i was reduced to tears. I expected it to be Andrea's brother to be the ghost not Andrea. I didn't realise that she was the ghost and the way it was written that Melinda didn't say she was a spirit til the end. I have goosepimples all over my arms whenever the man in the black hat shows up he just gives me the creeps even thinking about him. I knew they were going to kill off a main character. It was a shock to me at the end of the episode and one that left me thinking about the show. I couldn't believe that they could have done that, Andrea had been a strong presence in the show and for her to die at the end of the first season was a real big deal. Something like that usually is saved for a few years in. I am waitin til the new year thats when season 2

I wasn't prepared for the end of this episode. I had spent the last couple weeks watching this show on DVD with the wife and we were enjoying finding a new show to watch together.

We had come to like the characters and the dynamic they played within each others life. It was nice to see such strong relationships.

Then the end of the season was coming and we knew that there was going to be a big story and that changes were coming. We had seen the dark figure lurking through out the season and we knew that he was going to play a major part. What we didn't knwo was that... SPOILERS...

... they were going to kill off a main character. It was a shock to me at the end of the episode and one that left me thinking about the show for the next three days. I couldn't believe that they could have done that. Andrea had been a strong presence in the show and for her to die at the end of the first season was a real big deal. Something like that usually is saved for a few years in.

And while I am sad that the character has passed I am still a fan of the show and know that the writers will be up for shocking stories when you least expect it.

I could not believe it that Andrea was dead , all the times that Melinda was going to talk to her , I really thought that she was going to say : \\\"Your Brother is Dead\\\" ... How can this be ?? What about the guy in black ?? Is he the devil or something like it ??? If someone could say something i would apreciate very much .... And back to Andrea , how could they kill the most beautiful afro-american actress that i have ever seen (and i bet all guys agree with me) , i\\\'m sorry \\\"jen\\\" but Aisha is better ..

The fact that Andrea died in a car crash (or so I think) while trying to figure out if her brother had died was a very surprising ending and a great way to end the season. The thought did not even cross my mind that Andrea had died. They didn't really give any clues to show that THAT was how it was going to end.

Well, "I" Couldnt pick up any clues, but it was a great episode that made me want to see what was going to happen next. I can't wait until the next season airs..... Can't WAIT!

I really did not see this one coming! Not only was the plane crash a very emotional scene, but seeing all those dead passengers was very heartbreaking. It was hard to watch! It brought feelings 9-11 back. Anyway, Andrea is one of the main characters, she brought warmth to the screen. She was funny and a joy to watch. I did not think that they would kill of one of the main characters so quickly! The only question now is who will replace her and will she "go into the light?" I can not wait to see what else will happen in this series!

This for sure was a great end for the season. The end absolutely shocked me, and ti certainly wasnt expected. I must say its one of the few series running right now that I\'m actually excited to see return in the coming months. Overall the episode was a great twist on the series, and in a sense added a new villain. Can\'t wait for next season!

I thought this episode had exactly what the season finale should have in it, an evil ghost is after her and trying to keep others from crossing over, but I was shocked when I saw that Andrea had died in the crash! I didn't believe it at first so I watched the episode before and realized nobody talked to her or even noticed her. I was sad because she was one of my favorite characters, but I still loved this episode and I really want to know what is going to happen to Andrea, considering it ended with the evil ghost right behind her.
  • For a season final this was a poor conclusion.

Season finals are usually my favourite episodes, but this one I just didn't like.

This second part was slow moving and the ending with the best friend dead just seemed far too cliched. It could have been a really good final, but it just didn't work and I was left wanting to fast forward through as much as I could.

It seems to me that we haven't seen the last of the Wide Brim Man, but it also seems to be deviating from what the series was originally about which I think may spell disaster.

Overall, the worst episode I have seen in this season.
  • I don\'t really watch this show, but this episode.. makes me anxious about what\'s going to happen next!

    9.0

The plane crashed horrificly and Melinda saw too many ghosts.. victims wandering around the crash site, confused.

Amazingly the FAA authorative figure had believed her when she told him that she could see the dead, so he let her stay around to help him figure out about the crash.

With the help of the pilot's ghost, they managed to figure out that the oxygen airway was closed, thus resulting the lack of air in that plane and to the death of everyone in it. Melinda tried to help these ghosts cross over but they were promised by the "Wide Brim Man" that they could stay and "live". Melinda was crushed when the ghosts won't listen to her and she doubted herself, if she should sacrifice herself to the "Wide Brim Man" so he'd let go of the plane crash's ghosts.

A girl who was stuck in the car due to the plane crash was rescued and told Melinda that while she was "in between", a man had told her that her time was not up yet and had wanted her to tell Melinda that she's "the one" to stop the "Wide Brim Man".

With that, Melinda was certain that she was put there, with the gift to help those ghosts to cross over. One night, she made a big speech about the other side and convinced the ghosts to cross over, creating a bright light that everyone on the crash site could see.

Andrea was still anxious about her brother, until Melinda told her that he was there. Andrea turned around and excitedly ran towards him but he ignores her and hugged Melinda instead.

He didn't see Andrea. Turns out, Andrea had died along the plane crash when she was driving, trying to get to her brother's apartment. She must've been on the plane's way.

The season had ended with the "Wide Brim Man" getting closer to Andrea, as she was crying, just realizing that she was dead, saying "she's mine now."
