This was the first episode that I watched from this series, missed the entire first season of this and tuned in, with the start of the second season. I recently went and bought the first season on dvd, and I believe this is Melinda's first suicide that she deals with. I love these episodes they have a beginning and an end, so no matter which episode you tune into you understand what is going on. Jennifer Love Hewitt is great on this series. For this being my first episode I saw it did spectular for me to tune in every week, and make this one of my favorite shows.
This episode is all about Marty, who Melinda finds while she is at a comedy club with Jim and Andrea. He starts doing all kinds of strange things such as balancing Melinda's arm chair on the coffee table and balancing glasses and throwing them to the floor, which starts to scare her a bit. She goes back to the club at night and finds it full of those who have not crossed over. Melinda believes he died in a horrific event which explains his disgusting disfigured look. He remembers he killed himself on a bridge. He stepped off the bridge, but then realized he had made a mistake. He finally figures the reason why he killed himself: his girlfriend, who was also a comedian at the club, got a break in the big time and he didn't. When she refused to go, he felt like he was taking her chance to be good. There are good co-stars in this episode. The rest is up to you to watch but I bet you can guess the ending.
Well..I Loved It! Especially When Melinda's Keys 'Defy The Laws Of Gravity'!
I Thought This Episode Was One Of The Classics, As Was 'Hope And Mercy' (Personal Favourite).
The Storyline Is Just So Great, You Couldn't Help But NOT Watch It! (I Certainly Loved It!!)
When I First Saw The Ghost of Marty, I Thought 'Wow' But As The Episode Went On, I Thought He Was Very Very Nice! Especially Jumping Off The Bridge So That The Woman He Loved (Bless Him!) Could Be A Star Instead Of Him, I Mean, C'mon How Many People Would Be Willing To Give Up Their Lives So That YOU Could Be A Star Instead Of Him/Her??
To Round It Off, Thought It Was A Bit Of A Tearjerker At The End, When Marty Was Stroking The Woman's Face And Saying 'I'll Be Watching You Tonight'.
Very Very Good Episode! The Writers Should Keep Coming Up With Quality Stuff Like This!
Melinda, Andrea and Jim take interest in a comedy club named "The Comedy Cave." There, Melinda meets a very scary looking ghost, but later on becomes more civilized looking and she finally was able to start helping him. Like most times, it is a romance problem with one that is still alive. Melinda tries to contact the partner of the ghost, but finds convincing the partner more difficult than she expected. This episode is quite emotional, but it also has its twist of comedy, but what would you expect, the story is centered on comedians?
Overall it was a very unique episode, I don't think much people would really enjoy it, but it has required taste.
Bellow average episode. The story didn’t click for me. The casting to be blunt, sucked! The guy who played Marty was the worst but Sandra and the other chick weren’t much better either. On the plus side, Jennifer Love Hewitt looked absolutely delicious. Very, very hot! As to the episode, it’s one of the worst of the season so far. Even the jokes at the comedy club failed. They need to do something with the show. It’s getting stale already, after only a dozen episodes. I mean, JLH is great eye candy and all, and some stories really are sad/beautiful but that alone doesn’t hold a show together.
A good episode, again another sad one but I guess that is the nature of this show.
I like the idea of the comedy club filled with dead people.
I think they could have a lot of fun with dead jokes!
I think Melinda has a ability I would hate to have. To tell people that she can communicate with the dead is something that would be very hard because it is so unbelieveable. She does a pretty good job explaining it though.
Andrea seems to be the type of person that will give anything a go once, even though I didn't think she was very funny at all.
It's the same thing, every episode. A ghost appears. It scares Sandra. Melinda talks to it. Then she talks to the family. They shun her away. Melinda tries to talk to them again. They see she is telling the truth because Melinda tells them something that only the ghost would know. Melinda rights whatever wrongs may have happened. The ghost crosses over. Melinda goes home to her Husband. The End. They better pick it up quick, or they aren't going to make the cut to second season. However, hats off to the creativity put fourth into Melinda's outfits. Maybe they'll do Halloween episode in which Melinda wears something normal. Now that would be scary!
Another low key and what the HELL's the point episode.
A comic kills himself, but first he forgets that he did, and asks Melinda if his dead, then he comes to terms with the fact that he is dead, but he can't remember why he killed himself.
Man, they are really making this show boring now.
Marty the dead spirits wants to make amends with Francie the comedy club owner and his girlfriend Sandra, whom Melinda helps him with.
We barely saw goody too, most understanding husband in the world Jim, which was good for a change.
I loved Andrea's closing joke about praying that the escaped convict was tall.......funny.......but I've heard before, it was a stolen line.
Well, another ghost that needs to cross-over but is having trouble. This is what happens when you put a psychic and an actress in charge of a show.
The most interesting part of this episode was counting the number of hairstyles and wardrobe changes of the show's lead actress. The "Little Bo-Peep" outfit she paraded while walking down the stairs was particularily hilarious. Looks like the wrong people have too much say as to what the focus of the show is about.
No much can be said about the story, the only twist was that the ghost couldn't remember why he killed himself (I've forgotten already) and was a bit scarier than the others. The best part was the Monday regular meeting of dead comics that Melinda crashes to get her information.
This was a different Episode than usual but I still liked it.
What freaked me out was when Melinda was listening to Marty's old jokes on CD and she looked under the table and saw a puddle of water and looked back up and saw the freaky looking Marty with the completely blacked eyes and the pale looking skin just gave me chills lol along with the eyes he had afer he was cleaned off.
The part that got to me was on the bridge and seeing Sandra just drop that bottle of wine off the bridge and her just saying goodbye was just sad along with Marty talking to Melinda about how he felt more alive when he jumped than when he was alive that was just heartbreaking.
The 'Laughing Man' still gets to me lol I want to know what he wants from her is he evil or is he here to help Melinda and why is he laughting did he die from laughing gas? lol anyways another good Episodes but not as good as the other ones and again I give props to the Writer, Cast and Guest-Stars.
