Having been encouraged by his mother and friends, Alex is ready to pursue the trouble maker who is out to get him. I always thought the first season had the best mysteries and most interesting questions. Like Jamal said, how can a pen pal in Texas participate in a New York school campaign? We don’t know yet. But Alex is now thinking with a clear head and manages to apologize to the newcomer, Rob Baker, who still looks rattled over being contacted by Ghostwriter in the computer lab.

Subplots have always been a part of the show and they are a good way to show the other team members in action or conflict while bringing significant relevance to the main storyline. (E.g. Hector faces a bully while the team confronts an online hacker in “Who is Max Mouse?”) In this case, Jamal and Gaby take up karate and get sidetracked by personal mistakes. Their teacher wisely advises them to change their perspective instead of quitting the class. These lessons about respect and courtesy are parallel to Alex’s troubles with the campaign and how his change of perspective will lead him to a better investigation.moreless

    • Sensei Kamata: Karate is using for defense only, not for picking fights. We'll have no ninjas here.

    • Jamal: Ah, don't worry. You're going to do just fine. As long as you don't break any bones.
Gaby: (sarcastically) Thanks. You're a big help.

    • Rob: (Types) "Words that fly, hanging in air. Maybe a friend?" Friend nothing. I don't even know if I saw it or not.
Ghostwriter: I am a friend, Rob.
Rob: What's going on here? Woah! (Rob pushes back his chair in alarm. Then he cautiously types in a message) "Who are you?"
Ghostwriter: My friends call me Ghostwriter.

    • Jamal: Wait. Where are you going?
      Alex: Creep hunting!

    • Sensei Kamata: You both have lessons to learn. Yours is, "Leave your ego at the door". This is a class, not a competition. If you want to study karate, you can't worry what other people think of you.

    • Rob:(types) How do you know my name?
Ghostwriter: I've read your fine poems.
Rob: (annoyed) Hey! (types) My poems are private!
      Ghostwriter: Sorry.
