Holy fuck, that was sexist. It was 1965, not 1945, for crying out loud. At the end, Gidget gave a "morals of the story" speech that turned my stomach. I don't know how much Sally Field agreed with that tripe at the time, but I hope she regrets going along with it now.

    • Gidget: Daddy, whose side are you on? I want to know right now. Are you a man or are you my father?

    • Russ: A car that old would be in the repair shop 90% of the time.
Gidget: If anything goes wrong, I'll fix it myself.
Russ: You are baffled by the complexities of a can opener.

    • Gidget: You're gonna find out there's at least one girl who knows where she's going and can manage perfectly well without the assistance… (screams as she falls into a small hole someone dug in the sand, then stands up) Oh! Why didn't you tell me I was walking into a hole?
Jack: Well, I, uh… I thought, if I warned you once, you might start depending on me.
