      • This is the first episode to have a dream sequence. There were seventeen dream sequences and fourteen episodes with dream sequences.

      • It's pretty hard to believe the Skipper would be pronouncing rations as "ray-tions," given his years in the service, where the other pronunciation is the most used.

      • When Skipper puts the axe in the table, it's near the edge, a few inches away from a crack running through thetable. However, when Gilligan comes in to get it, it is now in that crack and nowhere near the edge.

      • I don't really think the above is really a goof. In the dream sequences I think the people on the show were looking for ways to step out of character and make it funny that such a character would act that way. For instance, when Mr. Howell plays a vagabond in a dream sequence in an episode in the second season. That could hardly be considered a goof; it was just him getting a break from playing a rich socialite. I don't usually hold to a very high standard the deviations the characters took from their roles in dream sequences. After, weird things happen in dreams.

      • The dream sequence begins with "Gunsmoke" music, and people in the streets. After that the town appears to be deserted accept for the cast. We do see a couple doors slam, but no other people. "Senorita" Howell tries to give Gilligan a defective gun. Then as the Professor, and Mr. Howell are walking up the street, a curtain opens, and a face appears in the window.

      • Gilligan: When the mayor pinned this badge on my chest I made him two sacred promises. Ginger: What promises? Gilligan: First off, I wouldn't drink when I was on duty. Ginger: Forget the drink, Marshal. You don't have to drink to have a good time. What was your second promise? Gilligan: Never to have a good time.

      • Thurston: The minute I see that Gilligan, I'm gonna fill him full of gold. Professor: Don't you mean lead? Thurston: A Howell use lead? Such a vulgar metal.

      • Gilligan: Okay, Everett, now. And please be careful. Remember, glide a lot. It's a long way. Skipper: Fly below the clouds, don't go near the mountains, and for goodness sake, stay away from the airplanes. Ginger: And remember, if you meet a cute little lady duck along the way business before pleasure.

      • Thurston: Ginger, I'll give you $500 for your olive. Lovey: Oh Thurston, that's not fair. Thurston: You're right, dear. Make it $1,000.

      • Thurston: Thurston Howell, III in a soup line. I'll be drummed out of the social register.

      • Mary Ann: You want me to keep your breakfast warm? Skipper: No Mary Ann, just keep it from blowing away.

      • Professor: (ready to draw pistol) We want that duck. Mr. Howell: And we're gonna eat um.

      • Mrs. Howell: (very matter of factly) Oh look those nasty men are coming down the road.

      • Gilligan: Skipper, if she has to be killed, then let me do it. Skipper: Ok, Gilligan. (pause) Go on.

    • NOTES (5)

      ADD NOTES
      • Theme of this episode: When we are faced with two difficult alternatives sometimes we can find a third alternative that's better than both.

      • Actually, it was not cancelled because of the people of Gunsmoke. The main guy at CBS saw the new production schedule for one season, and saw no Gunsmoke on it, and he was a big fan of the show. So he cancelled Gilligan so he could put Gunsmoke back on.

      • This episode was shot on the gunssmok set as a dream sequence however Gillian's Island was canceled because of the Gunssmoke people, them brats,
